Porsche’s 200-Page Annual and Sustainability Report Had a Little Surprise In It
Reports about the Porsche Macan EV have been bouncing back and forth for a year now, with the latest news being that it may only be sold as an EV from 2024 onward. This news came via an external report, but it is mentioned briefly in Porsche’s Annual and Sustainability Report for 2019 and that it is scheduled to launch in 2022. What was more interesting in that report, however, is reference to a jacked-up rugged wagon, once known as the Mission-E Cross Turismo Concept. Do you see where this is going? Porsche Macan EV Timetable – Everything is Changing
The Porsche Macan’s timeline isn’t written in stone and seems to be changing so frequently that it’s hard to keep up with. Back in March of 2019, we heard that the next-gen 2021 Macan would be offered as an EV only. Then, news about the Macan EV pretty much dried up until February 2020 when we learned that Porsche would sell the current-gen Macan (in facelifted form) alongside the next-gen Macan EV. A new report, coming directly from Germany, says Porsche is considering the bravest move it’s made since it almost replaced the 911 with the 928.
2021 Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS
The 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is an upcoming high-performance variant of the 982-generation Cayman that’s rumored to debut in 2020. Essentially a more aggressive and powerful version of the existing 718 Cayman GT4, the 2021 will be the first of its kind and the first modern 718 to feature the "RS" badge. This car has been in the rumor mill ever since the first Cayman GT4 was introduced in 2015, but it took Porsche around four years to turn it into reality. Better late than never, I guess.
The 2021 718 Cayman GT4 RS is more than just a rumor now. The car has already been spotted on public roads with some camouflage on its body, but also with a beefed-up exterior. It features bigger vents in the front, a big rear wing, and many small details that set it apart from the already familiar GT4. Just like the latter, the 2021 718 Cayman GT4 RS will feature the 911’s 4.0-liter flat-six under the hood, but in a more powerful setup. Let’s find out more about it in the review below.

Here’s Why You Won’t See an Electric Porsche 718 Anytime Soon
It was early March when we discussed whether or not there was a case for an electric Porsche 911 and, ultimately, why it’s going to be the last in the lineup to go electric. Part of the problem with the 911 is packaging, and the other part is weight. With the current 992-gen model, an eV powertrain just won’t fit. On top of that, battery technology hasn’t evolved enough. It might work for large sedans (nevermind the Taycan’s embarrassing range limitations,), but for most two-door sports cars, it just isn’t the right time to make the conversion. But, does the same hold true for the 718 Cayman and Boxster?
Porsche Won’t Do an Electric Hypercar, But It Does Have Something Else In Mind
Back in November 2019, a report traveled through online car-centric mediums claiming that Porsche is serious about building a hypercar that would rule supreme on the top tier position of its lineup.
Rumors talked about a car that would bridge the gap between Porsche’s road-going vehicles and its motorsport programs with know-how provided by the company’s abandoned Formula 1 engine development program. Well, you can disregard that, because Porsche’s is not doing a hypercar. At least not in the short- to medium-term future.
Is There a Legitimate Case for An Electric Porsche 911?
Porsche has bravely stepped into the EV world with the new Taycan, and it has sparked a lot of conversation about when the rest of the lineup will move into electrification as well. There’s potential that the 718 Cayman could go electric or at least hybrid when the next-gen model launches, but what about the 911? Will Porsche’s most iconic car take a ride on the greener side of things anytime soon? Well, Porsche’s Director of its Sports Car Line had something to say about it, and it might surprise you. … or maybe it wont.
2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT
The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is an upcoming version of the Cayenne Coupe, a sleek SUV that Porsche originally introduced for the 2020 model year. Spotted testing in the wild with a different exhaust layout, the 2021 Cayenne Turbo GT is rumored to become the company’s range-topping model. It could also be a hybrid that generates more oomph than the already impressive Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid model. The fact that it was also spotted at the Nurburgring in the past suggests it will be more dynamic than any other Cayenne on the market. The equivalent of the 911 GT3 for SUVs if you will. The name is not yet official, but it could be called the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT5, a badge that Porsche trademarked back in 2015.

Porsche’s Dual-Macan Strategy Is About More Than Easing the Shift Into Electrification
When the current Porsche Macan makes its generational shift in 2022 or 2023, it was originally expected to make the shift into EV territory as well. The original “plan” was for the next-gen Macan to be offered only as an EV and ditch the ICE altogether. All that has apparently changed, at least to some extent, if a new report is to be believed. Let us introduce you to the dual-Macan Strategy.
2020 Porsche 911 Turbo & Turbo S: All We Know So Far
With all the positive feedback received by the new 911, Porsche will want to let the good times roll with the upcoming 911 Turbo and Turbo S, too. At this stage, we have no doubt that ze Germans are working hard to perfect the Turbo recipe as the 992-generation Neunelfer Turbo & Turbo S will debut this year.
When it finally hits the showrooms, the Turbo will be forced to face stiff competition from the likes of Lamborghini Huracán Evo, Mercedes-AMG GT R, and Audi R8. Looking at how much horsepower these three pack, it’s pretty obvious that the new Porsche 911 Turbo has to up the ante in this department. That, however, won’t be the only change from the current 911 Turbo.
2021 Porsche 911 Targa (Updated)
If you like the Targa top in your Corvette, you must know that Porsche did it first, in 1967. Now, the 992-generation of the ageless Porsche 911 continues the tradition and the latest Porsche 911 Targa will be introduced as a 2020 model year car and will feature the 444 horsepower 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-six seen on both the Carrera S and the Carrera 4S. Expect it to cost at least $135,000, some $22,000 more expensive than a Carrera S. Blame it on that roll hoop that’s drenched in history.
Once upon a time, there was a road race through Sicily’s narrow, winding roads that awarded those that proved to be unphased by angry locals, that sometimes drew guns on the competitors, and the perilous condition of the tarmac in many areas of the Circuito delle Madonie. That race was the Targa Florio, launched in 1907 by rich entrepreneur Vincenzo Florio, that became a sort of a favorite for Porsche and its drivers, the brand from Stuttgart winning the race 11 times in less than two decades. 2021 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid "RS" Coupe
The internet has been buzzing with rumours about a racy Porsche Panamera “Lion” that packs between 760 and 800+ horsepower taking the Nurburgring by storm. It has been reported that the test prototype packed a boosted version of the S-E Hybrid powertrain found in the regular Panamera, while some said it relied on an ICE-only powertrain. All this chatter was immediately followed by rumors about a hotter Porsche Cayenne Turbo S-E Hybrid said to wear the “RS” badge; in fact, some outlets out there are forwarding the “GT” lettering instead, but that’s not the most relevant aspect for the moment.
What got us really interested has to do with the set of pictures sent in by our spy photographers. The photos show a camouflage-free Porsche Cayenne Coupe test prototype of sorts that wears a flashy body colour and contrasting brake calipers. What made us interest pique even more is the rear bumper/exhaust setup configuration, which sports a dual-pipe arrangement in the center unseen so far on a road-going Cayenne. Oh, and those rectangular side-positioned exhausts? They’re fake.
The Next-Gen Porsche 718 EV Could Be More Powerful than the Current Cayman GTS; Should Arrive in 2023
Nobody has officially confirmed that the next-generation 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster will be electric or even hybrid, but a new report is saying that they could have 400 horsepower, a figure that will put them well ahead of the current Cayman GTS and pretty damn close to the 414-horsepower Cayman GT4.
The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Gets a Big Bump in Power and Weight, But What Does it Mean?
The 992-generation Porsche 911 is already on sale globally, but only in non-Turbo trim. The range-topping Turbo and Turbo S have yet to be launched, and it seems we have to wait until 2020 to have access to them. However, the folks over at Car and Driver managed to ride in a Turbo S and found out important bits of info on the rear-engined sports car. For starters, we know it will generate 641 horsepower, but will it be quicker than the old model? Let’s find out.
2020 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible
Porsche is currently gearing up for the release of the next generation 992-era 911, offered as a follow-up to the current 991-era 911. Per usual, Porsche will offer a variety of body styles and equipment levels, including high-end speed and unlimited headroom with the up-and-coming 911 Turbo Convertible.

2020 Porsche 911 GT3
The Porsche 911 GT3 has been around since 1999, continuing Stuttgart’s habit of unleashing high-performance spec iterations of its iconic sports car originally started in the ‘70s with the incredible Carrera RS. Now, with the imminent arrival of an all-new 911 (also known as the 992 generation) by the end of 2018, we’ve been waiting for details on the next GT3. Luckily, it looks like we got just that, as our spy photographers snapped a few shots of a possible undercover 992-spec GT3 out and about undergoing some cold weather testing. As such, we drew up a quick speculative review on what to expect.

Now That the 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo and Turbo S Are Here, What’s Next for Porsche’s First EV?
A few years ago I was working on a piece about the Porsche 911 991, and I had to count the number of available versions of it. I stopped at 25. It is a somewhat similar story with the Porsche Panamera, which is, right now, available in 18 different guises. Why am I telling you this then?
Well, the Porsche Taycan is available in only two guises for a start - the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S - I wonder how many more versions can we expect?
The Next-Gen Porsche 718 Cayman Might be All-Electric - Could This Lead to an Electric Toyota MR2 Spinoff?
Thanks to a recent report, we’ve learned that Porsche is considering making the next-gen 718 Cayman an all-electric sports car. In fact, it’s currently the “favored option within the company,” even though a final decision has yet to be made. The heavy brass at Porsche will make that decision within the next 12 months, so the 718 could end up being Porsche’s second all-electric car. This got me to thinking about the news last month that Tetsuya Tada, the Chief Engineer of the Toyota Supra, was very adamant about working with Porsche for its next sports car – the one that would serve as the final piece to the puzzle that is the three brothers, and the car that could revive the MR2 moniker.
Oddly enough, this falls right in line with one of my predictions for potential partnership between Toyota and Porsche. Well, sort of.
Here’s Everything We Know About The 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible
Back when Porsche introduced the 911 Cabriolet in 1983, proper sports car enthusiasts recognized one thing - the 911 was not only for the driving enthusiasts - it is also for drivers that see it as a status symbol. Now, almost four decades later, we get the 911 992 Cabrio in Carrera and Carrera 4S forms. Yet, fast roofless monsters still thunder over the Nurburgring and enjoy the sun on city streets across Europe. These are Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolets - possibly the best cabriolets that world has ever seen. While I am expecting a 911 Turbo Cabrio reveal at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, this is what I’ve gathered about it.
Someone Caught the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo and 2020 Porsche Taycan on Camera
The 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo is expected to come later this year, but we don’t have to wait to see it. The car has been spotted doing test runs out in the open sans any clothes. The car looks super sexy in black, driving sedately behind a cement mixer. In another instance, even the Porsche Taycan was spotted from the rear roaming the streets. We get to see the huge ass taillights and turn signal in action as well. Another prototype of the Porsche Taycan was spotted sprinting with blue dressing with ‘soul electrified’ and ‘Taycan’ decals on it. Although these sightings are fun, it makes the wait seem even longer. Can we just have the cars already, Porsche?!
A New Porsche Hypercar Is Coming and You Won’t Believe What Porsche is Considering
Porsche Design director, Michael Mauer shared a rather peculiar insight into the next generation of Porsche flagship hypercar. In an interview with British Autocar, Mauer noted:
“There is always the option to look into history, but sometimes you can also take the option to create some history.”
In short, this means that the Porsche 918 Spyder successor’s design could take a retro-inspired style, or it could look far into the future in a courageous step of progressivism. This got me thinking about the Porsche 918 Spyder’s successor which is slated to appear in 2025 at the earliest. In Stuttgart, Porsche engineers and designers had been tasked to envision the new hypercar. The first request:it has to be able to lap the Nurburgring in less than 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
Well, I am not entirely sure that this is the first request, but you get the point. Frank-Steffen Walliser, the head of Porsche Motorsport, said that this is one focal point for the company and one of the primary intentions behind the 918 Spyder successor.
Let me say that 6:30 around the ’Ring is not an easy task to accomplish for a road-legal car. Or for any car for that matter.
2020 Porsche 911 Speedster
The 2020 Porsche 911 Speedster is a limited-edition version of the 991-generation 911. Based on the 991.2 model discontinued in 2019, the 2020 911 Speedster is the last iteration of the eight-year-old sports car. It’s also the first Speedster since 2010, when Porsche sold a limited-edition model of 356 units based on the 997-generation 911.
Previewed by a couple of concept cars used to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary of building sports cars, the 2020 911 Speedster is actually very similar to the show cars. But unlike its predecessors, it’s based on the track-ready 911 GT3 and generates in excess of 500 horsepower. As a result, it’s also the first Speedster developed by the Porsche Motorsport division. It also comes with a Heritage Design package that adds unique features inspired by vintage Porsche race cars, as well as a premium timepiece.
