Porsche

Porsche is known as the purveyor of rear-engined sports cars and GTs but, in the past two decades, it has greatly extended its business and, now, the backbone of Weissach’s lineup is made up of SUVs like the Macan and the Cayenne and the ultra-luxurious sedan that is the Panamera. Of course, there will always be more fans of the mythical 911 that’s been in production since the mid-’60s but two-door cars are hardly the bread and the butter of the company nowadays, although they will always remain the stars as Porsche’s motorsports-bred DNA is embedded in each and every model that leaves Stuttgart.

The 2022 Taycan Has Been Improved In Ways That You Can't Imagine

The 2022 Taycan Has Been Improved In Ways That You Can’t Imagine

Rubystone Red pays tribute to the classic 964-generation 911 models

Updating cars on a year-to-year basis is becoming a new trend, and the Taycan is the latest model to jump on that bandwagon. For 2022, Porsche has improved the Taycan dramatically, with all updates geared toward making day-to-day use easier. It all starts with Normal and Range modes. When these modes are engaged, the front motor is almost completely decoupled and de-energized. And an new computer algorithm allows both motors to disengage when the car is coasting or at a standstill, something that also helps increase usable range.

Beyond this, Porsche has updated the Taycan’s thermal management system with the goal of optimizing the drivetrain. The battery can now be heated to a slightly higher temperature, which allows for fast charting earlier and at a higher charge level – something that reduces the amount of time required to charge. Even better, the excess heat from electrical components is now used to a greater extent to regulate the battery’s temperature.

Alongside these new upgrades, Porsche is now offering the Taycan with Remote Park Assist that will allow you to park it with your smartphone and Android Auto has finally been integrated into the sixth-generation PCM infotainment system. The Taycan can also be ordered through the paint-to-sample and paint-to-sample plus programs, the first one of which includes up to 65 available colors, like the cool red you see here.

The Porsche 356 Speedster-Inspired Iconic Autobody 387 Is Actually A 987 Boxster In a Classic Suit

Looks can be deceiving; This Porsche 356 Speedster is actually a 987 Boxster, redesigned by Total Headturners

For better or worse, replicas have become a part of automotive culture. It’s certainly an alternative to a million-dollar dream car, even if the quality is often questionable. When it comes to classic cars, there are many that have achieved iconic status. Naturally, this is also reflected in their price. The classic Porsche market, in particular, is more or less a constant in this regard. With this in mind, U.K.-based company Total Headturners has built a very convincing 356 Speedster replica based on a more modern mid-engine Porsche, and we think it looks awesome.
