When Porsche decided to step into the SUV segment with the Cayenne, Porsche purists we’re all that happy, expecting the brand to soldier on with different 911 variants until times end. But, the Cayenne turned out to be a huge success, and the German brand decided to come out with a compact model named the Macan. Originally codenamed Cajun, the Macan hit the market in the spring of 2014 and became an immediate success, being one of Porsche’s most sold models. Be that as it may, the compact luxury segment is intense, so Porsche needs to keep things fresh until the next-gen model comes to be at the turn of the decade.

Now, we’re getting a first look at the facelifted model thanks to a new round of spy shots. There won’t be a whole lot of change on the table, but the headlights and taillights should get a new layout, and it looks like there’s a bigger chin spoiler up front. The interior is set for some minor nips and tucks as well, and the available engines could get some minor retuning to help keep things interesting.

With that said, we know Porsche’s facelifts aren’t typically that in-depth, so there won’t be a lot of significant change, but the subtle things will make all the difference. We expect the facelifted Macan to debut sometime in the next few months and should be sold as a 2018 model, so let’s take a closer look before Porsche spills the beans.

The Porsche Macan came to be in 2014 and arrived in dealerships as the company’s second SUV, after the Cayenne. Aimed at the luxury compact crossover market, the Macan is Porsche’s answer to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, sharing the same platform with the latter. Produced alongside the Cayenne and Panamera in Leipzig, the Macan is available in many drivetrain configurations. The range begins with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder model, the first in the modern era before the Cayman and Boxster received their new flat-four mills, while the S and GTS feature 3.0-liter V-6 units. Porsche also offers a diesel powered by a V-6, while the Turbo gets a larger 3.6-liter V-6. Come 2016 and the Germans introduced a new range-topping model, called the Performance Package.

Based on the Turbo model, the Performance Package is the most powerful Macan to date and also comes with a number of unique features inside and out. Besides a more powerful version of the twin-turbo, 3.6-liter V-6 unit, it also sports an updated chassis with an enhanced braking system and a sport exhaust system. There’s no word as to whether the Performance Package is limited-edition only or will become a permanent member of the Macan lineup, but the good news is that it’s available in the United States. Granted, it’s name is rather uninspired when Porsche could have used the Turbo S moniker, but who are we to argue company naming and marketing schemes.

Bottom line is, Porsche has a bonkers crossover for its customers at a time when no other automaker is able to offer a similar vehicle with more than 400 horsepower. Touché, pussycat!

Among the funky concepts and interestingly boxy designs at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show is this, the 2017 Porsche Macan GTS. Slotted between the “base” Macan S and the range-topping Macan Turbo, the GTS offers a sweet spot of horsepower and torque paired with the Turbo’s transmission and AWD system. Sporty looks and a decreased ride height further push the GTS towards the track star Porsche needs to fight rivals from Audi and Mercedes.

Powered by the familiar 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 found in the Macan S, the GTS gets an extra 20 horsepower and 30 extra pound-feet of torque. The seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK transmission and Porsche’s traction Management system are employed to help get power to the ground. Porsche even offers an optional Torque Vectoring System.

An initial glance at the stats, and the GTS seems very promising.

Porsche claims the GTS will hit 60 mph in five seconds, while the Sport Chrono Package knocks two-tenths off that time. Its top speed is listed at 159 mph. Promising indeed.

Of course, there’s more to the Macan GTS than just its performance stats. Still, it appears Porsche focused the crossover’s entire existence into a more track-ready machine. Black accents match its black wheels, helping to further visually lower the GTS’ center of gravity. A sport exhaust system announces its presence, while an Alcantara and leather-lined interior with exclusive GTS seats coddle all five passengers.

The Macan GTS is set to arrive at dealers in March 2016 with a base price of $67,200.

Updated 10/30/2015: Porsche dropped a new video in which its highlights the sports exhaust system in the new Macan GTS. Enjoy!

The newly launched Porsche Macan, which will wage war against the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5, has yet to reach U.S. showrooms, but that didn’t stop the folks over at Porsche Exclusive from meddling with the compact SUV.

Having already seen its take on the 2014 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo Cabriolet, we know What Porsche Exclusive is capable of when it comes to adding unique features inside and out. Flashy body colors, blacked-out headlamps and deep chocolate brown seats are just a few of the options that can be acquired form Porsche’s individualization program.

The same amenities are available for the brand new Macan as well, and the customized entry-level model you’re about to see below is proof enough. As with most Porsche Exclusive builds, this specific Macan S looks more aggressive without having that "in your face" statement attached to it.
