From what we know about it so far, it seems like one of the most wholesome packages that we’ve seen in recent times

After four long years, the production-spec 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has finally arrived. The truck is as impressive as it seemed back then in concept form if not more so. This performance off-road truck has all the ingredients to make a perfect recipe - there’s a mighty V-8 Hellcat mill under the hood that makes over 700 horses, an advanced four-wheel-drive system, a strong suspension system that’s good enough to hit triple-digit speeds off-road, and a luxurious cabin that can put even premium sedans to shame.

With a price tag of $70,000, this isn’t exactly an inexpensive truck, and it kind of missed a full onslaught on the F-150 Raptor, which is available in the fully-loaded spec at the TRX’s base price point. Can it dethrone the apex predator, or will both the trucks be able to co-exist in peace?

A Hidden Ram TRX Easter Egg Hilariously Trolls The Ford F-150 Raptor

The gauntlet has been thrown in the direction of the mighty Raptor

The arrival of the 2021 RAM TRX was more than just the debut of an incredible pickup truck; it was also a gauntlet being thrown in the direction of the current king of all trucks, the Ford F-150 Raptor.

There’s no secret that the RAM TRX’s purpose on this earth is to take down the mighty Raptor. Well, as far as motivations go, RAM included a rather hilarious easter egg on the TRX to remind its current and prospective owners exactly what it’s all about. Pop open the hood of the truck, lift up the airbox cover, and you’ll see it, plain as day.

Underneath the cover is an engraving of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, only it’s not just a T-Rex (or TRX, if you’re Fiat-Chrysler) that you’ll see; it’s a T-Rex that has, of all things, a raptor in its mouth. The subtlety, or lack thereof, shouldn’t be lost on anyone who owns a RAM TRX moving forward.

The Ram 1500 TRX Was Worth the Wait, and Now We Know Why

Ever Wonder Why it Took 5 Years for the Ram Rebel to Morph Into the Ram 1500 TRX?

The Ram Rebel TRX was probably the most important – or at the very least most memorable – concept of the last decade. A Ram 1500 with a 500-horsepower Hellcat engine and all the off-road goods to put Jeep to shame – it was a recipe that blended desire with hope. That hope, by the way, was reinforced by the fact that the Rebel TRX Concept looked like it was ready to hit the production line. And, it really was ready, but Ram decided to hold back, and we didn’t get the production model – which we now know as the Ram 1500 TRX – for five years. Now we know why Ram waited to introduce the production model, and we’re damn glad it did.

2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition

Despite being priced at over $90,000, all 702 examples of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition sold out within three hours!

It’s been about a week since Ram revealed the 2021 1500 TRX. It came with a lot of exciting features in and out and hit the bulls eye in almost every department. The starting price of $69,995 (excluding destination charges), too, wasn’t bad for the stuff that’s on offer. But, as is the norm these days, the Ram 1500 TRX was also introduced with a special “Launch Edition”.

Priced at over $90,000, this edition was limited to just 702 examples – the same amount of horsepower that the truck offers. At the onset, it seemed a little too expensive, but all 702 examples of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition were officially sold out within three hours after the bookings opened. How about that!

2021 Ram 1500 TRX vs. Ford F-150 Raptor

The F-150 Raptor has finally found a worthy contender in the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX

From the day Ram revealed the TRX Concept, people have been calling it the Raptor-killer. The concept TRX came with loads of off-road accessories, a big engine, and a star factor that made people believe that it could dethrone the Ford F-150 Raptor. Four years later, the company revealed the production-spec 1500 TRX, and it retained almost everything displayed in the concept truck. At the onset, the 1500 TRX is very impressive, but can this new entrant take on the veteran F-150 Raptor with the DNA of the company that has been ruling for decades together?

Ram Has No Intentions of Building a Street-Tuned TRX

Don’t Expect the TRX to Morph Into a Street Truck Akin to the Old Dodge Ram SRT10

It’s crystal clear that Ram had off-road in mind when it built the Ram 1500 TRX. In fact, it’s a bold and director competitor to the Ford F-150 with considerably more power. At this point, one could even argue that FCA is just amused by putting ridiculous amounts of power into the hands of drivers. In recent news we learned that the TRX will be the most expensive half-ton pickup ever, and that the TRX will be sold in Europe. There’s even potential for a less-powerful “entry” model of sorts to arrive sometime after launch. There’s now officially one thing there won’t be, however - A Hellcat-powered street truck akin to that of the old-school Dodge Ram SRT10.

The Ram 1500 TRX Might Be Associated With the T-Rex Dinosaur, But That Wasn't the Intention

The Ram 1500 TRX Might Be Associated With the T-Rex Dinosaur, But That Wasn’t the Intention

The affiliation between the Ram TRX and the T-Rex is just coincidence... kinda

As the only real alternative to the Ford F-150 Raptor, perceiving the Ram 1500 TRX’s relationship to the T-Rex dinosaur makes sense on several levels. First off, the T-Rex was an adversary of the Raptor, and two, it really kind of sticks it to the Ford Raptor. When the live unveiling for the TRX happened, it was even kicked off with a cutscene from Jurassic Park that included – you guessed it – the T-Rex. As it turns out, however, that’s not where Ram was originally going with the name and, while it makes sense now, it boils down to happenstance.

Is the Ram 1500 TRX's Cabin Too Luxurious For Off-Roading?

Is the Ram 1500 TRX’s Cabin Too Luxurious For Off-Roading?

There are some bits in the Ram 1500 TRX’s cabin that are a little too sassy for an off-roader

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has taken the world by storm. It comes with a Hellcat engine that makes over 700 horses and sprints to 60 mph in under five seconds. Stuff like the independent front suspension, advanced four-wheel-drive system, and performance shocks further make its resume stronger. It doesn’t end there.

Ram even decided to make the cabin look as premium as possible, with the use of materials like leather, suede, and even carbon fiber. But, for a truck that comes with such impressive performance specs and off-road equipment, offering a luxurious cabin seems counter-intuitive, don’t you think?

The Ram 1500 TRX Could Be Offered In More Affordable Form With Less Power

Down the Road, Ram Could Offer the 1500 TRX With Less Power For a More Affordable Price

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has taken the world by storm. The specs are mighty impressive, and so is the feature list. Although it is meant to take on the Ford F-150 Raptor, the price suggests otherwise.

A fully-loaded Ford F-150 Raptor costs almost as much the base TRX. That doesn’t mean the product is expensive, but it sure means that the TRX is offering a lot more features than the Raptor. So, how can Ram make the TRX more affordable? Simple. Downsize its engine. The automaker hasn’t confirmed this yet, but it isn’t averse to the idea of a smaller engine either.

Ram also claims it to be the most luxurious truck, but do all these things come at a cheap sticker price? Of course not. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX may start at just $69,995, but equip it with all the accessories and options available now (not counting from the MOPAR catalog), and it soon breaches the six-digit mark. Courtesy of this, this performance off-roader is the most expensive half-ton pickup ever.

You Can’t Buy a Ford Bronco In Europe, But You Will Be Able to Buy the Ram 1500 TRX

No Ford Bronco In Europe? Just Buy the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Instead

Shortly After the 2021 Ford Bronco was revealed, it was announced by a Ford spokesperson that the Bronco isn’t for Europe in any way, shape, or form. Given Europe’s strict emissions regulations and massive taxes on big engines, you’d assume that the RAM TRX would be stuck on the sidelines just like the Ford Bronco. Ford is even offering the Bronco with a three-banger, and it won’t cross the pond, but the HEMI-powered Ram TRX will be making that journey, and it could be happening sooner than you might expect.

The 2021 Ram Rebel 1500 TRX Comes to Put Pressure on the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler

Billed as the most powerful mass-produced truck in the world, the 2021 Ram Rebel TRX has some pretty big expectations to live up to, but once you hear more about it, I think you’ll agree that it’s about to dominate the off-road segment. The 2021 Ford Bronco and 2021 Jeep Wrangler better watch out because there’s a new truck in town, and it has the taste of blood on its tongue. Powered by a 6.2-liter HEMI V-8, the Rebel TRX is good for 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent through a high-torque-capacity TorqueFlight eight-speed automatic transmission. This truck has the capability of sprinting to 60 mph in as fast as 4.5 seconds and will blaze through the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. It will top out at just 118 mph, but remember – this isn’t a super-truck; it’s an off-road truck, and that is, without a doubt, its natural habitat.

A Dana 60 rear axle sends power to the rear wheels through an electronically locking rear differential with a 3.55 final gear ratio, and the new unique suspension system provides active damping to keep things under control even on the toughest off-road trails. But that’s not all. See, the TRX also features model-specific Bilstein Black Hawk e2 performance shocks and a five-link coil suspension system. All told, wheel travel is greater than 13 inches on all four corners, and the TRX is also 8-inches wider than any other 1500 on the market today. The TRX starts out at an impressive $69,999 and order books open as soon as August 18, 2020.

We have a lot more to tell you about the Rebel TRX, though, so stay tuned and be sure to check back regularly for the rest of this week! Until then, check out the amazing gallery above or embedded in this page below!

2021 Ram Rebel TRX - Everything You Need to Know

The 2021 Rebel TRX will come with concept-like exterior, premium interior, and one Hell(cat) of an engine

Update 8/17/2020: The 2021 Ram Rebel TRX has made it’s debut. We’re busy updating this article and our full review, but head on over to our quick facts and photo gallery to learn more about it!

The Ram Rebel is one of the sportiest trucks on the market today. It’s not just the tuners, but also the automakers building powerful and fast monsters right out of the factory. Dodge can be credited with this trend when they launched the Dodge Ram SRT-10 more than 15 years back. This truck was powered by the same V-10 found in the Dodge Viper. However, the market was not mature enough to handle it, thus sending it off the production line within three years of its inception.

Fast forward to 2016 and Dodge is Now Ram, and it revealed a concept truck called the Ram Rebel TRX. In 2018, the company said the concept was given a green signal by the corporate overlords and they will be building it. Since then, enthusiasts have been in a tizzy as to what to expect out of this beast. The only thing confirmed so far is that it will be powered by one Hell(cat) of an engine that will be driven by over 700 horses. Is there anything else? Well, here’s a list of all the things you need to know about the upcoming 2020 Ram Rebel TRX, thanks to Mopar Insiders and Allpar.

Ram drops a bomb just a few hours before the 2021 Ford F-150’s big reveal

The Rebel TRX goes up against the F-150 Raptor, so this strategic timing was purely evil. What a war this is turning out to be!

2016 Ram Rebel TRX Concept

2016 Ram Rebel TRX Concept

The Raptor-fighter Ram NEEDS to build

Ram definitely stole the show at the 2016 Texas State Fair with its Ram Rebel TRX Concept. Other truck brands were out in force, but it was Ram and its Hellcat-powered Rebel 1500 that drew crowds. Yep, you read that right – this truck is powered by the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 most commonly called the Hellcat V-8. Okay, so Ram powertrain engineers had to dial back the power and torque to more manageable level to keep from breaking axles and whatnot, but this beast still puts down 575 horsepower to all four wheels.

Oh, and speaking of wheels, this truck features massive, 37-inch Toyo Open Country MT tires wrapping 18-inch beadlock wheels. Hidden behind is a custom off-road racing suspension from King with remote reservoir shocks, a six-inch wider track, and beefy control arms.

There’s a ton more stuff that makes up the 2017 Ram Rebel TRX Concept, so let’s dig into it.
