The Ram Rebel gets some exclusive paint and a few other goodies with this limited-edition model

When Dodge converted the Ram name into its own brand, there was a period of uncertainty as to what would happen with the line of pickup trucks. But, the new brand really didn’t disappoint, developing some of the nicest trucks there are on the market that just look outright sexy. On top of that, each trim level is different in its own way, making the choice to purchase any given trim a very personal decision. When it comes to the Ram 1500 lineup, there are a total of nine different trims ranging from the classic-looking (by classic I mean circa 2004) Big Horn, all the way up to the range-topping Ram limited that is powered by a 5.7-liter Hemi as standard and could quite possible end a marriage with its $52,000 price tag. But, the Ram 1500 range is growing a little bit with the introduction of some special edition models like the one you see here, the Ram 1500 Rebel Mohave Sand.

Based on the Ram Rebel, the Mojave Sand package brings an exclusive exterior finish to go with a special hood and roof decal and a very sleek and carefully appointed interior. It should start hitting dealerships in December of 2016, but if you like what you see, you need to move quickly as only 1,500 examples will be produced before the Ram calls it quits with this package. If you don’t get to the dealer in time to get one of these models, not all is lost as there is also a Ram 1500 Ignition Orange Sport Package that could suit your special-edition.

But, before I get too far ahead of myself, let’s take a look at the Rebel Mojave Sand Limited Edition and look at all the sandy details.

What makes the Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand special

As you can see from looking at the images we have here, the Rebel Mojave Sand isn’t all that different on the outside from the standard Ram Rebel. But, it’s the in details where you begin to understand what makes this model special. That finish isn’t just standard white, it is what Ram is calling Mojave Sand, and it’s exclusive only to this model. The other primary, and obvious feature, is the massive black decal on the performance hood that also carries over onto the roof – well. The part of the roof that isn’t made up of glass, anyway. Outside of this, you get everything the Ram Rebel has to offer including the off-road wheels and tires, Active-Level Four-Corner Air Suspension, that grille that is limited to just the ram, and the front and rear skid plats that make off-roading a little less troublesome to the undercarriage.

Inside, the cabin gets a darker appearance with black anodized bezels on the doors, instrument panel, and console to go with those of the center console and the trim rings inside the instrument cluster. The seats in this model are all black with black embroidery as opposed to the Radar Red seatbacks in the standard Rebel. There is Light Gray contrast stitching holding together the leather of the seats, door trim panels, center console lid, and dashboard. It’s not much, but it’s definitely a refreshing look compared to the current model. It’s also quite noticeable that the steering wheel spokes are now black and the lettering of the instrument cluster isn’t as white. The floor also has a set of rubber floor mats that are embossed with gray Ram’s head logos. The cabin of the 1500 was already spectacular, and these smaller changes just go to show how a little variation can do a whole lot in the way of visual pleasure.

The Rebel Mojave Sand isn’t all that different on the outside from the standard Ram Rebel. But, it’s the in details where you begin to understand what makes this model special.

In case you didn’t notice, this isn’t just a standard 1500 Ram Rebel either. Instead of going with the standard, 3.6-liter, Pentastar, V-6 model, this baby is built with a 5.7-liter Hemi under the hood (as proven by the HEMI badge on the exterior fenders.) As such, this off-road beast pumps out a rock-spitting 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. There’s no mention of what rear end is stuffed under the bed of this beauty but models equipped with the Hemi can be had with either 3.21 or 3.92 rear gears, so it could be up as an option at the time of ordering. The Hemi model can also be had in rear-wheel drive, which kind of defeats the purpose of the off-road prowess, but to each their own, I suppose.

This limited edition model will be produced in just 1500 units and will come at a cost of $45,590 plus taxes, and a delivery/destination fee of $1,320. To put that into perspective, the standard Ram 1500 Rebel in two-wheel-drive form with a near-six-foot box and the Hemi starts out at $44,995 plus that destination charge, so Ram really isn’t boosting the price of the limited edition that much. If it happens to have four-wheel drive, as standard equipment, you’re really getting a deal. Even without, however, it’s still not a bad price for this limited-edition model considering it has exclusive paint.

What do you think about this limited edition? Does it offer enough value for the price or is there something else you would rather see come as part of the package? Feed us your thoughts in the comments section below.
