Gone are the days when trucks were designed for one of two things– off-roading or being put to work, both of which meant there were next to no creature comforts whatsoever. Ram has announced the 2019 Ram Rebel 1500 12 edition, and it feels like nothing short of a luxurious truck. Ram has a lot of new technology offerings along with its natural rough-and-tough characteristics. Has Ram hit the bullseye with the new Rebel 12?

What Makes the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 Special?

The interior of the 2019 Rebel 12 is a class apart. A new 12-inch touchscreen that's powered by FCA’s Uconnect infotainment system dominates the center console. However, this time the automaker decided to offer it in the 2019 Ram Rebel 12, making it the biggest highlight of the model. The thing with these huge touchscreens, however, is that they have to be vertically-placed, making it difficult to use while driving. The system is offered on the Laramie Longhorn and Limited models as well.

It has a faster processor and SiriusXM’s on-demand music service. A 900-watt Harman Kardon stereo is in place with metal speaker grilles for better tunes. Finally, the Rebel 12 also gets heated front seats, leather upholstery, and Rebels’ trademark, Radar Red anodized finish.

Even the updated off-road aspect of the Rebel 12 gives it that much more potential. The Rebel 12 is also available with a V-8 Hemi engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid eTorque system, RamBox cargo management, and four-corner adjustable air suspension.

Talking about this move to make the 2019 Ram Rebel 12 a feature-rich truck, Jim Morrison, Head of Ram North America, said, “Expanding the availability of the segment-leading Uconnect 4C 12-inch touchscreen is a direct response to market demand. Customers have been asking for additional high-end features on Rebel, and now we’re delivering with benchmark technology and materials wrapped in off-road capability.”

Our Take

The Rebel 12 feels like a transformation of the current truck on sale. Ram seems to have come up a winning combination here. It’s good to see Ram offering customers what they want. The Ram Rebel will be built at the FCA’s Sterling Heights plant in Michigan. Do you think the Rebel can take down the Ford Raptor with this new edition? Let us know in the comments section below.
