Back in November 2019, Ram announced that it will produce a series of 5 special-edition 1500 pickup trucks, with each one representing a branch of U.S. Armed Forces – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Called the ‘Built to Serve trucks, the company has now launched the second installment of the series; this time to honor the Navy. This Nautical-inspired theme will see 2,000 trucks being built in Ceramic Gray and Patriot Blue shades.

What Is This Initiative All About?

The ‘Built to Serve’ trucks were launched to promote ‘Ram Nation’, an invitation to a country-wide volunteer program for Americans to donate 1.3 million volunteer hours for the same number of active members of the U.S. military in one year (until Veterans Day 2020). The first series of the truck was launched when the company announced this last year, and now the second model has launched. Each batch of the trucks will be offered in two different shades and one common interior stitching pattern and color.

Army:

Gator and Diamond Black paint with Light Frost stitching

Navy:

Ceramic Gray and Patriot Blue paint with Light Ambassador Blue stitching

Air Force:

Anvil and Billet Silver paint with Light Diesel Gray stitching

Marine Corps:

Tank and Flame Red paint with Core Green stitching

Coast Guard:

Spitfire and Bright White paint with Orange stitching

The last ‘Coast Guard’ batch will see 500 copies being produced in each shade, whereas the others will have 1,000 examples each. You can have any of these editions in any body style, trim, and powertrain combination of the 1500 pickup truck.

What Makes The Ram 1500: Nautical Theme So Special?

Up front, the bumpers, grille, and the surround will be blackened-out completely, irrespective of the trim you choose. Ram will also offer black-bezel premium lighting. On the side, the trucks will feature the United States flag and ‘Built to Serve’ decal on each of the rear quarter panels. The truck will ride on 20-inch aluminum wheels with a Technical Gray finish. The wheel-to-wheel side steps will be painted in black. The wheel arches, however, will be body-colored; in this case, either Ceramic Gray and Patriot Blue. The exterior distinctions are finally rounded off with dual four-inch black exhaust tips that look swell.

Ram will also equip the 4x4 Off-Road Group that includes:

-* All-Terrain Tires

-* Electronic-Locking Rear Axle

-* Hill-Descent Control

-* Front Suspension Skid Plate

-* Steering Gear Skid Plate

-* Fuel Tank Skid Plate

-* Transfer Case Skid Plate

-* Tow Hooks

-* Heavy-Duty Off-Road-Calibrated Front And Rear Shock Absorbers

The dashboard, door panels, and center console are finished in dark chrome trim that the automaker calls ‘Black Onyx’. ‘Built to Serve’ embroidered Velcro panels are part of the package and you’ll find them on each front seat and inboard panels. You can also choose to apply your own patches here, which could be either regimental, flags, name tapes, or slogans. The front seatbacks are covered with Pouch Attachment hardware from PALS/MOLLE. You also get stuff like:

-* Built To Serve Instrument Panel Badge

-* Lockable Console Storage

-* Bolstered Cloth And Vinyl Sport Seats

-* All-Weather Rubber Slush Mats

Final Thoughts

The pricing for the Nautical theme trucks is not yet announced, but it should be once the trucks are available at the Ram showrooms starting this month. This is a nice initiative from Ram to honor the U.S. Armed Forces. All the trucks in each theme will stand out in the crowd as they will be manufactured and sold in limited numbers. The Ram Nation volunteer program by the company is another beautiful gesture by the automaker. If you want to volunteer, you can register at www.ramtrucks.com/ram-nation.html. You don’t necessarily have to be a Ram owner to do so.
