Despite being priced at over $90,000, all 702 examples of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition sold out within three hours!

It’s been about a week since Ram revealed the 2021 1500 TRX. It came with a lot of exciting features in and out and hit the bulls eye in almost every department. The starting price of $69,995 (excluding destination charges), too, wasn’t bad for the stuff that’s on offer. But, as is the norm these days, the Ram 1500 TRX was also introduced with a special “Launch Edition”.

Priced at over $90,000, this edition was limited to just 702 examples – the same amount of horsepower that the truck offers. At the onset, it seemed a little too expensive, but all 702 examples of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition were officially sold out within three hours after the bookings opened. How about that!

What’s So Special About The Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition

When you go to the configurator, it shows that the Launch Edition package is priced at $12,150. But, Ram is charging around $20,000 over the price of the standard Ram TRX. Well, that’s because you can’t have this package alone. It comes bundled with the “TRX Level 2 Equipment Group” worth $7,920.

So, what exactly is Ram offering with these packages, and does it make the truck any exclusive and worth the extra amount?

With both the packages in place, there are plenty of things offered here. For starters, the Launch Edition TRX comes in just one color – Anvil Grey – that’s exclusive here and won’t be offered on any the standard truck. This is what both the packages will include:

The cost of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition is $90,315. Here’s the split-up for the same:

  • The standard TRX - $69,995
  • Launch Edition Package - $12,150
  • TRX Level 2 Equipment Group - $7,920
  • Anvil Grey Exterior Paint - $250

This doesn’t include the $1,695 destination charge. So, all-in-all, the Launch Edition’s price would come up to $92,010.

Although this includes almost every other package and accessory available, there are quite a few things that aren’t included.

When you factor in all the additional equipment on offer, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX actually comes up to $100,835, making it the most expensive half-ton-pickup truck available today. Mind you, it doesn’t include any of the 100-plus Mopar accessories exclusively for the TRX that will be made available in the future.

We’ve seen special editions being introduced on products that were almost certain to be runaway success right from their launch – the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, the 2021 Ford Bronco, and now the 1500 TRX. Ford even doubled the production of the Bronco’s special ‘First Edition’ from 3,500 copies to 7,000 because the first lot was sold out within hours.

Do you think Ram will follow Ford’s suit and introduce more of the Launch Edition TRXs on ‘popular demand’? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

How do you top the apex predator of the truck world? By introducing the 2021 Ram TRX 1500 Launch Edition.

Along with today’s world debut of the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX super truck, the Ram brand announced plans to build a limited run of TRX Launch Edition models.

U.S. buyers will have to act quickly. Only 702 units will be sold as a commemoration of the TRX’s segment-topping 702 horsepower.

“The Ram team is as excited about the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX as our customers are,” said Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand, FCA - North America. “Many of those customers have been asking for something special, even above the TRX’s already loaded features.”

The TRX Launch Edition is visually distinguished by its Anvil Gray paint, which will be exclusive to the edition. Inside, each of the TRX Launch Edition trucks gets a special red and brushed-aluminum center console badge identifying it as a special, limited-edition TRX model.

The Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition package is coupled with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, adding carbon fiber interior trim, color accent package, Head-up Display, beadlock-capable wheels, 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof and bodyside graphics.

Production of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition starts in early fourth-quarter 2020.

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is built at FCA’s Sterling Heights (Michigan) Assembly Plant.

2021 Ram 1500 TRX
The new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is the apex predator of the truck world and cements Ram Truck as North America’s off-road truck leader. The Ram 1500 TRX expands the light-duty lineup and sets the benchmark for extreme performance pickup trucks. Designed bolt by bolt to significantly outperform every other truck, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has been tested to handle the most punishing conditions with extreme durability. Powered by the 702-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® V-8 engine, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX delivers a top speed of 118 mph on its way to being the quickest, fastest and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup truck in the world. New integrated fender flares add eight inches of body width, making room for new 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in specially designed 35-inch Wrangler Territory All-Terrain tires from Goodyear. This combination, paired with an all-new custom suspension composed of the highest quality components and tuning geared toward high-speed desert runs, produces even more capability on the street or in the desert.
