2021 Ram 1500 and Heavy Duty Limited Night Edition
Since most of the focus this year has been on the Ram 1500 TRX, the other trucks had taken a backseat in terms of updates and upgrades. However, Ram decided to throw in a little something for the 2021 model year. So it introduced a new ‘Limited Night Edition’ for the 1500 and the Heavy Duty trucks. These are pretty much just cosmetic upgrades, but well, something is better than nothing!
2021 Ram 1500 TRX Mammoth 6x6 by Hennessey
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX took the automotive world by a storm. Powered by a V-8 Hellcat engine that makes over 700 horses, this big, bulky truck takes just 4.5 seconds to hit the 60 mph mark. Just when you thought this couldn’t get any better, Hennessey decided to throw in a surprise. The aftermarket company has announced a 6x6 conversion of the “Quickest, Fastest and Most Powerful Mass-produced Truck in the World”. Called the Mammoth 6x6, Hennessey will only build three examples of this 1,200-horsepower beast and sell it at half-a-million bucks a pop. God bless Hennessey.
2021 Ram 1500 TRX
After four long years, the production-spec 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has finally arrived. The truck is as impressive as it seemed back then in concept form if not more so. This performance off-road truck has all the ingredients to make a perfect recipe - there’s a mighty V-8 Hellcat mill under the hood that makes over 700 horses, an advanced four-wheel-drive system, a strong suspension system that’s good enough to hit triple-digit speeds off-road, and a luxurious cabin that can put even premium sedans to shame.
With a price tag of $70,000, this isn’t exactly an inexpensive truck, and it kind of missed a full onslaught on the F-150 Raptor, which is available in the fully-loaded spec at the TRX’s base price point. Can it dethrone the apex predator, or will both the trucks be able to co-exist in peace?
2020 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition
I believe we’re starting to get past the days when chrome was synonymous with luxury. For a person who has detested chrome his entire life, this is good news. Ram has introduced a new “Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition” for its top trims on the 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. This monochromatic package is essentially a dark treatment for all the bling that is present all over the Limited trim’s body. Although it is offered only on the Limited trim, it can be had with any engine and drive layout.
2020 Ram 1500 Built to Serve: Nautical Theme
Back in November 2019, Ram announced that it will produce a series of 5 special-edition 1500 pickup trucks, with each one representing a branch of U.S. Armed Forces – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Called the ‘Built to Serve trucks, the company has now launched the second installment of the series; this time to honor the Navy. This Nautical-inspired theme will see 2,000 trucks being built in Ceramic Gray and Patriot Blue shades.
2020 Ram 2500 HD - Driven
Although Ram has been around the block for almost four decades, it was not until recently that the brand became a household name and a serious contender to the undisputed king of the industry, the Ford F-Series. Ram is essentially a by-product of Dodge and is a fully-owned subsidiary of the FCA since 2014. The name might be new, but the company has been building trucks since the 1970s under the name ’Fargo Trucks’ which was sold outside the United States..
The marque has essentially gone through a paradigm shift over the last decade and is consistently rising up the sales chart. In 2019, Ram sold over 630,000 examples; almost 60,000 more than the Chevy Silverado, to occupy the runner-up position. A lot of it can be credited to the fantastic engines in the lineup, and Ram’s constant effort to infuse luxury into its cargo-haulers. Not to mention, it has been paying a lot attention to safety as well. To top it all off, these trucks became an overnight sensation when Ram announced a 1,000 pound-feet of torque figure for the 3500 series. The Ram 2500 doesn’t boast of that, but it still has a lot going in its favor to be deemed as a potent threat to the Blue Oval and the Bowtie.
The model that arrived at the TopSpeed HQ was a black Ram 2500 HD Laramie. This is a mid-level trim that may not come with the best features that Ram has to offer, but it is one of the most practical trims to buy that covers all the basic essentials you would need on a daily basis. The truck came with a Cummins engine under the hood, a large touchscreen system on the inside, and a fairly wide, intimidating footprint that would shoo away all the smaller vehicles on the road with ease. But, when you pit it against the like-for-like trims of Ford and Chevy products on paper, it feels a little weak.
With that said, the Ram 2500 HD Laramie is still a strong contender and worthy of being shortlisted in your book if you’re in the market for a heavy-duty truck priced at around $50,000.
2020 Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition
RAM’s penchant for rolling out special edition trucks has paved the way for the truck brand to introduce a new run of special edition models that pay tribute to the five branches of the United States military. The special edition trucks fall under the RAM 1500 Built To Serve Edition name. Each of the five armed services — Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines — will receive their own special edition treatment. It’s unclear which of the five will get rolled out first, but the specific launches will take place every three months, beginning next week when the truck brand hosts its own Veterans Day celebration on November 11.
2020 Ram 1500 Classic Mohave Sand Package
Ram sure knows how to keep its product portfolio active. Lately, a lot of our attention has been on the 2020 Ram 1500, which comes with the third-gen EcoDiesel engine and also created a record of sorts by claiming the Top Safety Pick+ award. Logically, this would mean a drop in the sales for the 2019 model. However, Ram is keeping the 2019 1500 active by launching new packages and special editions of the truck. This time, we get the new Mojave Sand Package that’s offered on the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock. The truck comes with a host of aesthetic changes to distinguish it from the standard Ram 1500. But, is it worth buying?
2020 Ram 1500 Limited Black Edition
The 2020 Ram 1500 Limited Black Edition is a limited-edition version of the latest-generation Ram 1500 pickup truck. Based on the range-topping Limited trim, the Black Edition is exactly what the name suggests. It’s painted black, it features body-colored bumpers, and replaces all chrome trim with black inserts. It’s probably the meanest Ram 1500 you can buy aside from the Rebel. What’s more, it combines both sportiness and luxury, something the Rebel trim can’t offer. Available on the Big Horn and Laramie trims, the Night Edition enhances the personalization potential of this popular truck. Unveiled alongside the 2020 Ram 1500 Limited Black Edition, the Heavy Duty Night Edition goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The 145th Kentucky Derby is coming up on May 4th, and Ram is celebrating with the release of a fresh limited run of its popular Heavy Duty truck. Making its big debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show, the new special-edition workhorse gets a few unique exterior styling bits, extra interior comfort-enhancers, and a raft of standard gear to make hauling your four-legged investments even easier.

The battle of the trucks is never-ending. We have seen multiple players step in the ring, but none of them could get anywhere close to the products with the Blue Oval logo slapped on them. Ram trucks fall under the same category. These trucks have been a victim to Ford’s dominance for as long as one can remember. In all fairness, Ram is still a baby. The company was spun-off from the Dodge brand in 2010 and is owned by FCA. Even though the company is not as mature and experienced as the Chevy and the Ford, Ram sure has learned how to create quality products that can give the rivals a run for their money. For the 2019 model year, Ram decided to drop a bomb and declare war on the competition by launching a truck with four-digit torque figures! Can things get any crazier?
2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
With more than seven decades of history to draw on, the Ram Power Wagon is well established as a big, badass, burly mother trucker of an off-roader. Originally based on Dodge’s 3/4-ton military service vehicles from World War II, the modern Power Wagon is far more luxury-laden and tech-heavy than its predecessors, but it keeps the same endlessly capable undercurrent as before with a host of off-road ready gear.
2019 Ram 1500 North Edition
With winter on the horizon, Ram is gearing up for the season with a new special edition 1500 called the North Edition. The limited-run full-sized pickup is on the receiving end of a slew of upgrades, covering the exterior and interior, as well as the performance capabilities of the pickup. The Ram 1500 North Edition is already on the market. Prices start at $45,890, not including the $1,695 destination fee.

Gone are the days when trucks were designed for one of two things– off-roading or being put to work, both of which meant there were next to no creature comforts whatsoever. Ram has announced the 2019 Ram Rebel 1500 12 edition, and it feels like nothing short of a luxurious truck. Ram has a lot of new technology offerings along with its natural rough-and-tough characteristics. Has Ram hit the bullseye with the new Rebel 12?
2019 Ram 1500 eTorque
While I am not convinced that fuel efficiency is the decisive factor when choosing between trucks, RAM did make the biggest step in the fuel efficiency direction with the new 2019 Ram 1500 eTorque. We saw it some time ago, but the EPA wasn’t ready to publish fuel-economy values for the trucks equipped with the new technology. In truth, I can only describe as a mild hybrid.
Now, the EPA has revealed the numbers for the V-6 eTorque and V-8 eTorque Ram 1500 and the numbers are good. With two-wheel drive, a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and the eTorque system, the 2019 Ram 1500 can return 20 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. The V-8 powered model, on the other hand, is a bit more thirsty, but still, it will return 17/23/19, respectively. Bear in mind; it uses a big 5.7-liter, V-8.
2018 Ram 1500 Classic
Ram is the latest in a long line of automakers to sell a new generation model alongside the old generation model it just replaced. Don’t get confused, then, if you see the next-generation Ram 1500 sitting alongside the Ram 1500 Classic inside Ram dealerships all over the country. Unlike the next-gen model, the 1500 Classic is being packaged as a no-frills option that would-be customers can opt to get if they’re not willing to pay extra for all the new goodies that are available on the new 1500.
2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Edition
Ram has introduced the Laramie Longhorn trim level on its all-new 2019 Ram 1500 pickup. Like on the outgoing truck, the Laramie Longhorn is western-themed luxury trim filled with high-end materials. However, thanks to the vast improvements made on the 2019 Ram 1500, the Laramie Longhorn trim sees equally impressive advancements.
Designed to compete against the Ford F-150’s King Ranch and the Chevrolet Silverado’s High Country trims, the Laramie Longhorn goes above and beyond with real barn wood accent trim, full leather seats with contrast piping, brushed-nickel badging and accent trim, and Ram’s new 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen engulfing the dashboard. There is even the Laramie Longhorn badge branded into the wood trim above the glovebox – branded, like with a hot iron. That attention to detail continues through the cabin and onto the exterior.

2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty
The current Ram Heavy Duty has been around since 2010 with an update in 2013 and smaller updates scattered throughout the years. Not much changes for 2018, save for one aspect: the Ram 3500’s 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six turbodiesel is getting a healthy bump in torque for class-leading numbers. Turbo boost limits were raised, fuel flow was increased, and a retuning of the ECU adds 30 pound-feet of torque for a total of 930 pound-feet. This surpasses both General Motors and Ford’s maximum torque ratings of 910 and 925 pound-feet, respectively.
This veritable arms race between the Big Three has been ongoing for several decades, but the Torque Wars have really heated up in the last decade. Diesels are popular and the biggest numbers win – both in power figures and towing capability. Ram isn’t short on either. The 2018 Ram 3500 also boasts a new fifth-wheel hitch assembly from Ram Engineering that offers 30,000 pounds of towing. Ram says its the hitch is strongest hitch in the industry. Customer can add the hitch for $1,395, either with a built-to-order truck or as a dealer add-on. The Ram’s gooseneck hitch rating remains unchanged at 31,210 pounds, while its receiver hitch can pull 20,000 pounds. Compare that to Ram 3500’s numbers from 2011. It could only pull 15,540 pounds with a gooseneck and 12,000 pounds at the receiver. Yep – the truck’s towing capabilities have nearly doubled in eight years. But towing and torque aren’t everything, so let’s have a deep look at the 2018 Ram Heavy Duty.

The Ram Heavy Duty has been around since 1981 when Dodge introduced the three-quarter and one-ton trucks. The Ram was available with an innovative, 5.9-liter, Cummins turbo-diesel, something GM and Ford trucks couldn’t boast. The old Cummins turbo-diesel saw Ram Heavy Duty sales grow, thanks to its direct-injection fuel system, turbocharger, and greater power outputs than the competition.
Four generations of trucks later, the Ram Heavy Duty is still powering ahead of the competition with its Cummins turbo-diesel power, unmatched payload and towing stats, and its rugged, big-rig-like looks.
The 2015 model year sees some fairly significant changes for the Ram truck, mostly dealing with its updated, 6.7-liter, Cummins powerplant and the trucks certification with the Society of Automotive Engineers’ J2807 towing standards. Though the Cummins is the headlining engine, Ram (no longer Dodge since 2010) also offers a 6.4-lite, HEMI V-8 and the venerable 5.7-liter, HEMI V-8.
With three cab configurations, three bed lengths, two engines, and two- or four-wheel-drive offered, the Ram 2500 and 3500 can be built to suit whatever job needs doing. Heck, Ram even offers a chassis cab version of the 3500 prepped and ready for aftermarket bed applications.

Believe it or not, heavy-duty trucks play in a highly competitive segment with businesses and tradesmen looking to buy the best truck with the highest towing and hauling capacities while still being coddled in a comfortable and stylish cabin full of useful technology.
Though it’s highly competitive, there are only three true players: the Chevrolet 3500, the Ford F-450/F-550 and the Ram 4500/5500. Each truck has its strong suits and all do a darn good job of moving heavy stuff around, but the current standout in the segment is indubitably the Ram. Offering more options and ways to customize its trucks, the Ram caters more to those looking to build the exact truck to fit a specialized need.
Power comes from two iconic names in the industry, HEMI and Cummins. HEMI might be more associated with the high-horsepower performance crowd, but Chrysler’s 6.4-liter HEMI as recently made its appearance in the heavy-duty truck segment. It’s high torque output combined with its variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation make it a great alternative to the more expensive diesel. However, when the loads are heavy, the Cummins is the engine to have. Generating an enormous 750 pound-feet of torque, the Ram 5500 can pull a massive 29,600-pound trailer with ease.
Moving heavy stuff around is important, but getting people to and from the job site is equally so. The Ram Chassis Cab’s interior is a basic carbon copy of the near-luxurious cabin of the Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. Uconnect, a 7-inch TFT display, and navigation are just a few amenities the Ram boasts – and they can be had inside a truck that’s fitted with a dump bed.

The Ram 1500 pickup has become a popular model in the years that it’s been patrolling roads all over America.
Everybody has thought highly enough of the pickup that a revised model of the current-generation 1500 was just introduced a few weeks ago. Apparently, that popularity has compelled Ram to build a special-edition model called the Ram Black Express.
Looking the part of a completely bad-ass pickup, RAM built the Black Express to accommodate a slew of new features that completely sets it apart from the rest of the 1500 lot. Not that the latter doesn’t boast of many creds, the Black Express just takes it to another level.
One look at the Black Express and you immediately notice that it’s been blacked out to the hilt, complete with a black grille and front fascia, black bumpers, black badges on the front and rear, and to no one’s surprise, black 20-inch aluminum wheels.
Nobody got confused with what to call this special-edition 1500, apparently.
There’s also the addition of a bi-function halogen projector headlamps with LED running lights, a standard feature on this special edition compared to it being an added option on the regular steeds.
No powertrain changes were made so expect to see the same 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 under its hood, good enough to produce 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque while mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with a towing capacity of 9,250 pounds to go with an estimated 0-to-60 mph time of about 8-something seconds and a top speed of about 135 mph.
The Ram Black Express comes with a base price of $26,955, a little over $1,000 more than the base Express 4X2 regular cab.

The Ram truck has been around in some form or fashion since Dodge started making vehicles in 1914. The Ram as we know it today got its start when Dodge put the Ram name on the then-new 1981 full size truck. Of course, the biggest change happened in 2010 when Chrysler made Ram its own brand, pulling it from under the Dodge umbrella. Now called the Ram Truck brand, Ram has been making huge strides in truck development.
New for 2009 and refreshed again in 2013, the Ram 1500 is available in an almost limitless combination of cab, bed, engine, and options. Regular, Quad, and Crew cabs come with three bed lengths and three engine options that include the base 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, the venerable 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, and the new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6.
The Ram 1500 also represents some out-of-the-box thinking in terms of packaging. A five-link rear suspension replaces the traditional leaf springs and an available air suspension gives the Ram a boost for off-roading and trailer towing. The Ram also sports an eight-speed automatic transmission sourced from ZF. The unit helps the 1500 get exceptional fuel economy while still affording it good payload and towing numbers. The truck is also available with the “Ram Box,” a set of toolboxes mounted within the bed rails that will hold anything from trailer hitches to ice and drinks.
While it’s not expected that the Ram 1500 will overtake the Ford F-150 in terms of sales volume, it is expected the Ram will be chosen for its creature comforts and smart new diesel engine.
UPDATE 7/16/2014: Ram Trucks has just announced the entire Ram lineup will comply with the SAE’s J2807 towing standards. Ram joins Toyota and General Motors in adopting the new standards, though Ram is the only automaker to adopt J2807 in for Heavy Duty trucks.
