At the reveal presentation, the truck was touted as “The Most Powerful Mass-produced Truck in the World”. Ram also claims it to be the most luxurious truck, but do all these things come at a cheap sticker price? Of course not. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX may start at just $69,995, but equip it with all the accessories and options available now (not counting from the MOPAR catalog), and it soon breaches the six-digit mark. You Can’t Buy a Ford Bronco In Europe, But You Will Be Able to Buy the Ram 1500 TRX
Shortly After the 2021 Ford Bronco was revealed, it was announced by a Ford spokesperson that the Bronco isn’t for Europe in any way, shape, or form. The Ram Rebel is one of the sportiest trucks on the market today. It’s not just the tuners, but also the automakers building powerful and fast monsters right out of the factory. Dodge can be credited with this trend when they launched the Dodge Ram SRT-10 more than 15 years back. This truck was powered by the same V-10 found in the Dodge Viper. However, the market was not mature enough to handle it, thus sending it off the production line within three years of its inception.
Fast forward to 2016 and Dodge is Now Ram, and it revealed a concept truck called the Ram Rebel TRX. In 2018, the company said the concept was given a green signal by the corporate overlords and they will be building it. Since then, enthusiasts have been in a tizzy as to what to expect out of this beast. The Ram Rebel TRX is arguably the hottest truck at this moment. From all the leaks we’ve seen so far, it is shaping up to be a Raptor killer. The truck was supposed to debut at the Detroit Auto Show, but with the COVID-19 situation and the show getting canceled, a specific debut window has been up in the air.
However, the latest scoop by Mopar Insiders suggests that the upcoming Rebel TRX will be launched in June, albeit at a company event in Chelsea in front of a small audience.
The 2021 Ram Rebel TRX Could Have Multiple Drive Modes And A Console-Mounted Gear Shifter
The news surrounding the upcoming 2021 Ram Rebel TRX just keeps getting better and better. We’ve heard scoops about its drivetrain and suspension system thus far, and now a couple of images that allegedly show the truck’s instrument cluster and the control panel have popped up online, courtesy of TFLnow.
These look quite familiar, but there are a couple of things that are exclusive to the TRX. For instance, there is a TRX mode button at the top of the control panel and the gear selector knob is absent from its usual place. Will the TRX be largely different from the other Rams in terms of cabin layout?
The Ram Rebel TRX Could Have Adjustable Suspension and Steering
Ram is not able to contain the buzz surrounding the 2021 Ram Rebel TRX as more information comes to light. As per Allpar.com’s latest report, The Rebel TRX will most likely come equipped with adjustable steering and suspension systems like the Hellcat and Trackhawk models. A drive selector could also make its way in here. It seems like we can expect a lot of parts from other fancy FCA products to feature in the upcoming Rebel TRX.

Ram was one of the first automakers to venture into the performance pick-up truck niche. Back when trucks were used for hauling cargo and were meant solely for utility, Ram decided to do something different and create a segment that perhaps didn’t even exist. Nevertheless, it intrigued the minds of enthusiasts, which in turn created an avenue for other automakers to throw in their hat and see how they fared. Fast-forward to 2019, and we can see Ram pushing its Rebel TRX through the sand dunes in this video.
Exclusive: Did a TopSpeed Reader Just Spot the Mythical Ramcharger?
Remember way back when in the 1970s when Dodge released a two-door SUV based on the Ram 1500 Pickup? Back then, that beast competed directly with the full-size Chevy Blazer and Ford Bronco, it came with fairly powerful V-8, four-wheel drive, and it even copied its competitors with a removable roof in the rear. Believe it or not, the Ramcharger stayed in production from 1974 to 2001, seeing two generational shifts in the process. The third generation, you’ve probably never seen, however, as it was only produced from 1999 to 2001 and was quickly killed off because, well, back then compact, fuel-efficient cars were all the craze. That model was also more modernized and lacked the tall, rugged body style of the models that preceded it.
Since then, consumers – or at least SUV fans – have begged Dodge (now Ram) to build a new three-row crossover based on the newest generation of RAM trucks. With Ford reintroducing the Bronco and Chevy the Blazer (the latter of which just doesn’t compare to the originals), it’s only appropriate that Ram finally gives in and builds a new three-row SUV that we believe will carry the iconic Ramcharger name. Up to this point, we have yet to see any prototype, let alone receive a confirmation. We took it upon ourselves a few years ago to commission a rendering and write a speculative review for a 2020 Ramcharger,->art179677] but the trail has been cold ever since. Well, until now, that is.

Ram has been serving customers with a big appetite and big pockets. Post discontinuation of the Dakota, the smallest pickup truck in its lineup has been the Ram 1500. Given how the market trend has been changing lately, it is essential for Ram to slot a truck at entry-level to compete against the Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado and, after a 7-year exile, they have exactly done that. On Friday, FCA announced that a new truck will be entering the lineup below the 1500 by 2022.

2020 RAM Ramcharger
Many in the industry basically begged Dodge to build a three-row SUV based on the then-new 1994 Ram 1500 pickup. Those requests went ignored for three generations of pickups, even as the Ram Trucks brand spun off onto its own from Dodge. But it seems the stars have aligned yet again; Ram has an all-new 1500-series pickup for 2019, SUVs are enjoying a healthy uptick in popularity, fuel are holding steady at a reasonable price, and Fiat Chrysler is basically abandoning domestic sedan productions to make room for more crossovers and SUVs.
So, that begs the question – will Ram build a competitor to the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and Ford Expedition?
Sadly, we haven’t heard any official rumors or seen any appropriately shaped and camouflaged test mules running around Detroit, so it’s almost impossible to speculate with any certainty. The 2019 Ram 1500 Is Getting A Split Tailgate!
The next-generation Ram 1500 will be raising the bar for pickup truck cargo beds when it debuts for the 2019 model year. A spy photographer just caught a 2019 Ram tester with an uncamouflaged tailgate that is clearly split vertically. The tailgate will be able to open like a regular tailgate while also opening sideways like French doors. The Honda Ridgeline’s tailgate opens like this, though as a solid piece without the split.
Spied: 2019 Ram Getting Massive Vertical Screen
Ram’s next-generation 1500 pickup is on the verge of debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show ahead of its arrival in showrooms for the 2019 model year, but we’re getting a sneak peak thanks to a spy photographer who captured a detailed look at the 2019 Ram’s interior. The truck features a massive vertically oriented infotainment screen that dominates the center stack. It’s a vastly different design than anything currently seen in the pickup category. In fact, only Tesla and Volvo models have such large screens, followed closely by the Toyota Prius Prime.
Thankfully, it seems Ram engineers have thoughtfully retained hard buttons for the most common controls. These include the radio volume and tuning knobs, buttons for the HVAC fan speed and dual-zone temperatures, and the secondary HVAC system like defrost and recirculation. A bank of toggle switches line the bottom of the screen, controlling features like the optional air ride suspension, traction control, and parking sensors. As for the software, it’s clear Ram is continuing to use the well-loved Uconnect system. Icons along the bottom of the screen offer quick access to menus like the radio, HVAC, apps, navigation, phone, and system settings.

2019 Ram 1500 Departs From Classic ‘Big Rig’ Design
The next-generation Ram 1500 has been spotted by spy photographers and boy; the differences are huge! Scheduled for the 2019 model year, this half-ton truck departs from the classic Ram “big rig” design that dates back to the second-generation Dodge Ram that debuted for 1994. Gone are the crosshair grille and the big step between the hood and headlights. Ram has also moved the model and engine badge to the hood, leaving the doors free of clutter. But the front isn’t the only change.
The spy photos show a completely revised pickup with new metal from bumper to bumper. Even the cab section looks new. The doors certainly have new skin, and the weather stripping around the windows seems thicker, likely to help reduce wind noise. The Ram’s rear features new taillights, a new tailgate skin, and an interesting bumper with a full-length step that should make getting into the bed a bit easier. The bumper-integrated dual exhaust does make the generational jump.
Naturally, Ram hasn’t said a word on its new pickup, but the updates are expected to be more than just skin deep. Expect a strengthened frame, updated suspension components, and maybe even some aluminum body panels to decrease weight in key areas. The RamBox bed should return, along with the multi-link rear suspension an air-ride option.
As for engines, the prototype truck is clearly wearing a badge for the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. We fully expect the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel to return – likely unchanged – along with an updated 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6. The ZF eight-speed automatic will likely be standard equipment across the board. The other badge, though covered by tape, will likely be the R-A-M lettering within the horizontal bar in the new grille.

Next-Generation Ram 1500 Gets Mega Cab Option, Spy Photos Show
Spy photos of the 2019 Ram 1500 give a clear indication the Mega Cab option is returning to the half-ton pickup – a feature not seen since its single-year run in 2008. But as pickups become evermore luxurious, Ram is undoubtedly pushing the envelope. As such, we can expect the next-generation truck to offer outstanding levels of luxury – and rear-seat legroom. The crop of spy photos also give a glimpse at the Ram’s all-new dashboard and front grille.
The photos, courtesy of Truck Trend, show the 2019 Ram 1500 in heavy camouflage. However, hints of the grille can be seen. It appears only horizontal bars are present, suggesting the iconic crosshair grille may be gone. It’s also possible Ram is using different grille designs to denote trim levels, just as currently does. Inside, the Ram wears a new dashboard. The design isn’t groundbreaking, but is more modern than the current dash. The Uconnect screen does appear larger than the current 8.4-inch unit. Thankfully, volume and tuning knobs return. Also visible is a conventional, three-knob HVAC controller, a bank of auxiliary switches, and a trailer brake controller. The rotary shift knob returns, too, as does a large TFT screen between analog dials in the gauge cluster. A smaller-diameter, leather-wrapped steering wheel caps off the new cabin.

Ram Reportedly Delaying Updated 2500/3500 HD Pickups
series trucks are staying around a bit longer, according to a report. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles had originally planned an all-new version for the 2018 model year in line with similar changes taking place with the Ram 1500 half-ton pickup that same year. Now it seems FCA will only move forward with the Ram 1500’s extensive update, while only bringing a mild refresh for the heavy duty models.
The report comes from Automotive News, which cites sources close to the Ram HD’s development. It’s said Ram will only update the current, DS-based Ram HD’s exterior and interior, rather than giving it a complete refresh from the ground up. The 2018 model year will see such extensive improvements with the DT-based Ram 1500, however.
Reasons behind the delay include FCA’s current lack of expendable cash for R&D and retooling for the Ram HD’s Saltillo, Mexico assembly plant. FCA is already spending billions in revamping its Sterling Heights and Warren Truck Assembly Plants to accommodate the upcoming influx of new SUVs, crossovers, and trucks. Adding Saltillo and the Ram HD to the list simply isn’t feasible – at least according to the report.
This comes days after FCA’s Jeep division postponed development and production of its Grand Wagoneer – a high-class luxury SUV that competes with Range Rover and wears a $130,000 price tag.
Hopefully FCA will experience a boom in SUV and crossover sales to account for its vast investments. That influx in cash would certainly help fund future developments at the Ram and Jeep divisions.

2019 Ram 1500 Reveals Its Front At Dealer Meeting
Boy, that recent FCA dealer meeting was productive! No less than five Jeep models were shown (in confidence) to members of the automaker’s dealer network and now those secret images are tumbling through the interwebz like boots in a dryer. Now it’s Ram’s turn for exposure. Just hours after dark, grainy images of the future Wrangler and Grand Wagoneer surface, the heavily reimagined face of the Ram 1500 comes to light.
Granted, this is only a rendering, but it’s very likely the design Ram is close to finalizing. It also matches the description of the truck’s design leaked in September by an insider from a third-party supplier.
The truck still carries that high-hood, low-fender styling, but nearly all the details have changed. The grille now features a thick vertical bar with a larger Ram logo, the headlights taper down as they wrap around the fenders, the bumper is far more integrated into the bodywork, the horizontal fog lights are mounted above the tow hooks.
Out back, the taillights have a C-shape that looks darn close to GMC’s taillight design. The tailgate appears to have some deeply stamped metal, with the “R-A-M” scrip likely taking up much of the space.
To be honest, the design looks like a concept truck rather than something ready for production, but that might be the point. This might only be the design concept on which the production Ram 1500 will be based.
Only time will tell if this design will indeed become the next Ram 1500. We expect Ram to make the announcement in the coming months, perhaps even at the LA or Detroit Auto Shows.
