Renault has unveiled it's very first all-electric can - the Mégane E-Tech crossover - at the IAA in Munich
The French automaker is using one of their strongest names, Mégane, to begin this new chapter in its journey towards electrification
The French Automaker is committed towards electrification as per its "Renaulution" plan, unveiled in January
The Mégane E-Tech is a compact crossover that is aimed straight at competitors like the VW ID.3, Citroen E-C4, and the Cupra Born
The Mégane E-Tech draws a lot of design cues from the Mégane eVision concept car that was shown a few years ago
The exterior styling is unmistakably Renault and offers the quirkiness expected of a French Car. There's all LED lighting in keeping with current trends and titanium accents on the top trim
This model debuts the new modular platform CMF-EV that is designed specifically for EV's.
This platform hence provides for great use of space, despite the compact dimensions
If the exterior was impressive, wait till you see the interior
This cabin is nothing short of Tech-laden, with a little help from companies like Google and Qualcomm to run these 12" screens seen here
This being an EV, sustainability plays a big role and there is adequate use of recycled wood, fabric, and metal throughout the cabin
The cabin also features a Harmon Kardon premium audio setup with ambient lighthing that light up the speakers
The platform allows for ample legroom for rear passengers
The electric motor comes in two states of tune. A 130 hp variant that offers 186 miles of range or a 220 hp variant that offers 300 miles
Charging takes 8 hours using a 7.4 kW charger, but the top-spec E-Tech Mégane supports fast charging upto 130 kW
Performance is pretty brisk and 0-62 mph comes in just 7.4 seconds
Overall, the E-Tech Mégane looks like a promising start to Renault's EV goals. What remains to be seen if the French Automaker can keep up with demand with the Chip Shortage. Swipe Up to Read More.
