Does This Rendering Hint At Where the Next-Gen Renault Megane RS Is Going?

Did this Italian designer foreshadow the next Renault Megane RS?

Hot hatchbacks are arguably the most popular performance cars, because of their balance between sport and practicality. One of Europe’s most notable representatives of the segment is the Renault Megane RS. The version has enjoyed a substantial fan base, for three generations now, and being co-developed with Renault Williams means it can take some punishment on racetracks. There’s a reason why the Megane RS is one of the main car choices for race driver schools, across Europe.

If The Renault Espace Looked Like This, You’d Definitely Want One

It’s not happening, but we can dream, right?

A digital artist has created a modernized rendering of the Renault Espace F1, and it’s got us itching for one. The rendering is based on the concept model that Renault unveiled at the 1994 Paris Motor Show to celebrate the nameplate’s 10th anniversary and the French automaker’s involvement in Formula One. Nothing came out of the Espace F1, but 27 years later, it’s still fondly remembered as one of the gnarliest minivan concept vehicles ever showcased at an auto show.

2018 Renault K-ZE

2018 Renault K-ZE

Is this the electrified future?

Renault is previewing its future mini electric crossover with the K-ZE concept revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Taking a closer look at the K-ZE, it becomes immediately apparent that it is, in fact, just a dressed up Kwid (which Renault already sells in emerging markets) which has had its internal combustion powertrain swapped out for a full-electric one.

The future electric crossover will look much closer to this concept, than it will to the current Kwid, although it will maintain its basic body shape. What will set it apart visually more significantly are the new, redesigned front and rear fascias, as well as various details around the exterior. It also promises to offer “class leading” range for a vehicle in its size-bracket.

The Future of Renault Lies in this KWID-Based Electric Crossover Concept from the Paris Motor Show

Renault enters the fray with a small crossover for the masses

Renault premiered the grand stage with an all-electric crossover concept called K-ZE. It will eventually head to the production line and reach the masses next year. The concept looks funky, and the production version may not be very different from the concept. Given the segment Renault has slotted it in, the car will most likely fetch big sales numbers.

Renault R.S. 2027 Vision

Renault R.S. 2027 Vision

Looking to the future of top-tier motorsport

Formula 1 has always been a bastion of the high-tech, a series where futuristic ground-bound spaceships boom by at terrifyingly high speeds, challenging what we think is possible when a human pilot takes the helm on four wheels. For the past 40 years, Renault has taken part in this orgy of speed and technology, and now, we’re getting a peek at the French automaker’s vision of things to come. Long story short, expect even more of the heart-stopping pace we know today, plus more excitement, higher levels of spectator engagement, reduced costs, increased safety, and even a dash of environmental responsibility as well.

You gotta love it when a press release kicks off with the line “the year is 2027,” so I was keen to dive into the specifics as soon as I saw this thing roll across my desk. And while these sorts of design studies don’t always nail it in terms of predicting the real future, they almost always come with a nice set of interesting ideas that could gain some traction (in one form or another, at least) in the years to come. Not only that, but the aesthetic-driven renderings are a surefire way to light the imagination and set you off on a little sci-fi day dreaming…
