Yet another way to make your Rolls even more bespoke

Rolls-Royce vehicles are already about as unique as you can get, and yet there are countless programs from various companies to make them stand out from the crowd even more. The most recent program is being offered through a partnership between Euro design house Bengala Automotive and U.S.-based Vitesse AuDessus. The program involves an excessively healthy dose of carbon fiber to go with a new set of optional carbon fiber wheels, all of which is available on all current Rolls-Royce models, including the Rolls-Royce Wraith, Rolls-Royce Dawn, Phantom Coupe and Drophead Coupe, and the Ghost.

The Design Chief and owner of Bengala Automotive – Shoghi Saeidnia – spoke about the new package in a recent press release, saying, “Forged carbon fiber is an extraordinary development for the automotive industry. To the casual observer, the material serves a purely utilitarian purpose. As a designer, I was inspired by the mosaic-like motifs and felt that the aesthetic could be elevated. I visualized a material with the look of honed granite that would communicate the antithesis of the current perception: opulent luxury as opposed to ascetic utilitarianism. The product that Vitesse AuDessus was able to develop exceeded my highest expectations; and, when thinking of the appropriate application for the material’s debut as a luxury finish, no pairing was better suited than the handmade rolling masterpieces by Rolls-Royce.”

So, with that said, I’m here to talk a little bit about the Carbon Fiber package available for the Rolls-Royce Wraith and what it brings to the table. So, with that said, let’s dive on in and take a good look at this truly unique and elegant package.

What Makes the Rolls-Royce Wraith with Carbon Fiber by Bengala and Vitesse AuDessus Special

Let me just start off by saying that Bengala and Vitesse AuDessus have really outdone themselves on this one. The carbon fiber material they have created is a compressed carbon matrix that rivals that found on Lamborghini and Callaway models. As a new material, the aforementioned Rolls-Royce models will be the first in the industry to feature this truly bespoke material. As you can see from the images here, the hood, roof, pillars, front fascia insert, radiator grille, and rear decklid have all be fitted with the new material. If that’s not enough for you, Vitesse also points out that every removable body panel of the Wraith can be replaced with bare carbon counterparts that are created with the weave, tint, and finish that you specify. Surely, this means no two models will truly be the same.

According to the most recent press release about this package, opting for the additional carbon fiber panels comes with a few extra goodies. To start, all the original body panels will be carefully removed and safely stored in their original condition, allowing for refitting at any given time if desired. Parts that are attached to the chassis can be replaced with lightweight veneers. The new parts that are installed on the car come with a five-year warranty against defect or yellowing and are guaranteed to have the same fit and finish as the OEM parts that have been removed.

The optional wheels that can be had as part of this package are also an industry first. They are lighter and denser than titanium and is tested to meet or exceed manufacturer standards. There is also a proprietary wheel coating to protect them from heat damage. The wheels are said to “dramatically” reduce unsprung weight. If you’re looking to spruce up your Wraith with this package, expect to wait about three to four weeks for the parts to be completed after ordering, or four to six weeks if you’re going for those flashy, lightweight wheels.

Pricing isn’t really all that bad, with the most expensive part of the whole package being the roof at $9,655. The bonnet comes in at a close second with a cost of $7,250. The front grille surround will set you back between $3,875 and $4,125, depending on the specific model and the mirrors and mirror mounts come in at $3,125. The windshield surround will set you back another $3,100 to $3,480, depending on the model. As of now, the pricing of additional body panels and those wheels have yet to be announced, so you’ll want to contact Bengala or Vinesse directly to inquire about pricing. Given the prices here, without the wheels, the whole package should set you back a total of $34,585 if you go with the maximum price range down the line. That might sound like a lot, but last I checked, the Wraith goes for around $320,000 at current exchange rates, which means this package (minus the wheels and extra panels) will add on just of ten percent to the overall cost of the car. That’s really not that bad if you’re someone who throws down six figures for a car anyway, right?

Press release

Carbon fibre package for the ultimate luxury car
Optional bespoke carbon fibre wheels
Five-year manufacturer’s warranty
3 August 2016 – European design house Bengala Automotive and US-based Vitesse AuDessus have announced the launch of a bespoke carbon fibre program for current Rolls-Royce models.

The program offers carbon fibre options for the Rolls-Royce Phantom, Phantom Coupé, Phantom Drophead Coupé, Wraith, Dawn, and Ghost. The featured material is a compressed carbon matrix that is similar to the Forged Carbon Fibre developed by Lamborghini and Callaway. The use of this material as an aesthetic offering is a first in the automotive industry.

"Forged carbon fibre is an extraordinary development for the automotive industry. To the casual observer the material serves a purely utilitarian purpose. As a designer I was inspired by the mosaic-like motifs and felt that the aesthetic could be elevated. I visualised a material with the look of honed granite that would communicate the antithesis of the current perception: opulent luxury as opposed to ascetic utilitarianism. The product that Vitesse AuDessus was able to develop exceeded my highest expectations; and, when thinking of the appropriate application for the material’s debut as a luxury finish, no pairing was better suited than the handmade rolling masterpieces by Rolls-Royce,“ says Bengala Owner and Design Chief Shoghi Saeidnia.

The program is also offering another first in the industry: forged carbon fibre wheels. Lighter and denser than titanium, forged, carbon fibre wheels offer a clear engineering advantage over their metal alloy counterparts. Forged wheels are also a marked improvement in manufacturing lead-time compared to traditional carbon fibre layup. The availability of fast-curing resins makes it possible to produce a set in minutes, as opposed to days.

Each wheel design is tested to meet or exceed manufacturer standards and includes a proprietary coating to protect against heat.

"Carbon fibre wheels are the clearest and best performance choice as they dramatically lower unsprung weight. The only failing is in the complicated production process and long manufacturing lead-times. Forged carbon wheels solve this problem and open the doors to a wide range of future applications," says Vitesse AuDessus CEO Stefany Sanchez.

Aside from the forged offering and true to Vitesse AuDessus’s bespoke commitment, every removable body panel is available in bare carbon replacements in the weave, tint and finish specified by the client. For those parts attached to the chassis, the brand offers lightweight veneers.

All original parts are removed and stored in their original condition.

The parts come with a five-year warranty against defect or yellowing. OEM quality fit and finish are also guaranteed.

Lead-time for the parts is 3-4 weeks, and 4-6 weeks for the wheels, depending upon specification. Vitesse Audessus ships worldwide.
