The Rolls-Royce remains the British automaker’s newest model. That’s going to be the case until the Cullinan SUV arrives in the next year or two. For now, the Dawn remains the new kid on the Rolls-Royce block, and that status affords the company plenty of opportunities to get creative with presenting the luxury droptop. We’ve seen the Dawn get turned into the Bespoke Porto Corvo. We’ve seen it get a Fashion Edition treatment. Now, it’s being used as part of Rolls-Royce Abu Dhabi’s new Wisdom Collection. This, fine folks, is the Rolls-Royce Dawn inspired by Pearling Tradition.

You’ve probably pieced together by now that this exclusive Rolls-Royce Dawn makes up a collection of Rolls-Royce models that have been designed to celebrate its presence in the Middle Eastern region. It certainly goes without saying that the company considers the Emirates as one of its biggest markets, stagnating sales notwithstanding. The Wisdom Collection that includes the special edition Dawn is made up of a total of seven different one-off models, one each for every model that Rolls makes and, somewhat curiously, two for the Rolls-Royce Wraith. Each of the seven one-off models also pays tribute to a unique heritage of Abu Dhabi, with the one-off Dawn specifically shining a spotlight on the Arabian Pearl, one of the most sought-after types of pearls in the world.

What makes the Rolls-Royce Dawn inspired by Pearling Tradition so special?

To appreciate this one-off Rolls-Royce Dawn, it’s important to at least get an understanding of why pearls have a rich and storied history in the region. There once was a point in time when the region was considered Ground Zero of the pearl industry and at its peak in the 1950s, it supplied more than 70 percent of all natural pearls around the world. Unfortunately, business took a turn for the worst through a combination of new pearl culturing methods developed in places like China and Japan, and the Arab region itself gravitating towards the booming business of oil. The pearl industry in the Arab region eventually went dark in the 70’s, only to be revived in recent years by a new generation of pearl traders.

Knowing this makes it easy to understand the story behind the Rolls-Royce Dawn inspired by Pearling Tradition. The one-off Dawn retains its standard aesthetic look, but the use of colors associated with pearls brings its personality up to completely exclusive status. Shades of blue, teal, silver, and beige were used generously on the luxury convertible. Graphic details on the exterior depicting an image of an oyster with a pearl inside can be seen just below the windshield of the car.

That same image can also be seen on the center console inside the car. It’s one of the many exclusive design elements Rolls-Royce Bespoke gave to the Dawn inspired by Pearling Tradition. The predominantly white interior gets blue and teal contrasts, namely on the dashboard and the seat pipings. Just between the two backrests of the rear seats is a stitched criss-cross pattern in blue, an allusion to the nets that are largely used to catch the oysters that naturally create these pearls. Finishing off the Rolls-Royce Dawn inspired by Pearling Tradition’s one-off status is a plaque on the side sills denoting its one-of-one quantity.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn inspired by Pearling Tradition is one of the subdued members of Rolls-Royce Abu Dhabi’s Wisdom Collection. The use of colors associated with pearls could’ve turned this Dawn into a colorful mess, but Rolls-Royce Bespoke opted to be more nuanced with the distribution of the colors, hence the result looking a lot better than expected. And, for what it’s worth, this one-off creation also has one of the most fascinating stories to tell pertaining to the understanding of the Arab region’s rich pearl culture and history.

Power for the Rolls-Royce Dawn is provided by a 6.6-liter V-12 engine that pumps out a stout 575 horsepower and 563 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed auto transmission sends that power to the rear wheels, helping the car sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds before peaking at an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
