To celebrate Carrol Shelby’s birthday, Shelby American has rolled out the limited-production Super Snake Speedster edition based on the 2021 Mustang. It draws power from the Coyote V-8 engine and is paired to a supercharger. You can have it with either an automatic gearbox or a three-pedal stick shift. And, the best part – it is offered as a convertible. Oh, by the way, it also makes over 800 horses!

What’s Special About The Super Snake Speedster?

The 2021 Shelby Mustang Super Snake Speedster is transformed into a two-door roadster that can be had in either the Fastback style or as a convertible. The car comes with a hardtop Tonneau cover when you opt for the convertible style. It comes with body stripes to further distinguish it.

Just like all the Super Snake models, this one, too, rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber wrapped around 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels. Many aerodynamic tweaks work in tandem with the aluminum widebody kit to keep this monster under control. On the inside, Shelby-branded floor mats, door sills, and gauges are present. The dash features a serial-numbered plaque, to remind you all the times that this isn’t any regular Mustang.

Courtesy of this, the snake slithers to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds. You can pair it with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the rear wheels in both cases.

When you have such mad power and performance figures, there’s needs to be equally effective stopping power, too. For this, Shelby has equipped six-piston brakes at the front and four-piston set at the rear, both sourced from Brembo. Shelby has also collaborated with Penske for a track suspension and Borla for an exhaust system.

How Much Does It Cost?

Being the 98th anniversary special, Shelby will produce only 98 examples of this Super Snake Speedster. Shelby has priced it at $133,785 and this includes the cost of the donor car also. In case you want to transform your existing Mustang GT into a Super Snake Speedster, you’ll have to shell out $80,000.

In case all this is too much, you can opt for the $4,995 package that includes the painted stripes, a wide body kit, Penske track suspension, and rear seat delete with harness bar.

There Are Two Other Packages

Shelby has come up with two other packages for the 2021 Mustang. The first one is the Shelby GT500 Signature Edition, based on the namesake stock Shelby GT500. It is priced at $104,900, including the cost of the donor vehicle. The package comes with:

-* Suspension mods

-* Aesthetic upgrades

-* Power boost to 800 ponies!

The second package is the Shelby GT that is a little more tamed and practical and can be used for daily runabouts and urban commutes. This kit is priced at $62,310, including the cost of the donor 2021 Mustang GT Fastback manual transmission. It features:

-* Makes 480 horsepower from the V-8 engine; identical to the Mustang Mach 1

-* Hood with functional vents

-* Ford Performance suspension

-* Borla cat-back exhaust

-* 20-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance tires

-* Shelby signature styling

-* Custom interior

The aftermarket company also noted that the Shelby Signature Edition package for the 2015-2020 Ford Shelby GT350, including the ‘R’ model, and the Shelby 1000 and Shelby Super Snake post-title packages for the 2012-2014 Shelby GT500 are still on sale. An ‘S/C’ package is on sale, too, that comes with a supercharger and makes 700 horses.

Conclusion

The Shelby Super Snake will be available at select Ford and Tuscany dealers, whereas the Signature Edition and the GT will be available through Shelby American. All the cars come with a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty and don’t hamper the powertrain warranty from Ford either.
