The rear parking sensors measure the distance from the car to any objects behind, emitting a sound at shortening intervals to warn the driver as the objects get closer. Automatically maintaining a set speed, cruise control makes driving more comfortable. To check the average and actual fuel consumption, ambient temperature and even information on the radio station you are listening to, the car is available with a multifunctional MaxiDOT display. The heart of the Octavia RS is the powerful TFSI 2.0l engine that produces 200 bhp (147 kw) and is placed under the bonnet. This engine has a torque of 280 Nm that is moreover available from 1800 to 5000 rpm. This takes the car from 0-100 km/h in only 7.3 sec and on to a maximum speed of 240 km/h. It complies with EU4 and has a combined consumption of only 7.8l per 100 km. the standard manual 6-gear transmission perfectly matches the engine’s characteristics and has precise and smooth movements.

The 4-cylinder 2.0 TFSI engine is the very first turbo-charged petrol engine, the fuel being directly injected into the combustion chamber. The injectors of the cylinder head work with a pressure of up to 11 MPa (110 bar) compared with an average pressure of 0.4 MPa (4 bar) of standard injection into the intake manifold.

Using only an homogenously distributed air-fuel mixture within the combustion chamber, the 2.0 TFSI provides the maximum response at every point along the broad engine-revolution band. Modifying the inlet duct geometry from that of the 2.0 TFSI engine it results even higher tumble values production. This solution leads to a compression ratio of 10.5:1, a value that is otherwise usually achieved only by naturally-aspirated engines. To get a thermo-dynamic efficiency, the turbocharger is coupled with the direct petrol injection system that is new compared to the conventional turbo engines.

Body and Chassis

Each bend is a challenge for the Octavia RS. Every component and part of the vehicle has been designed to trans from the engine’s output into the joy and pleasure of driving.

To increase the torsion strength the body has been braced with special reinforcements. The chassis has been adjusted, having 12 mm lower clearance and modified shock absorbers and springs.

What help the efficient brakes to keep control is the standard ABS including EBD, MBA, EBC and ASR.

Illuminated red symbols on the dashboard let you know if a door isn’t properly shut and a buzzer warns you that if a safety belt is unfastened. Three rear headrests provide valuable protection for the passengers in the rear seats. The car is also fitted with rear parking sensors which measures the distance from the car to any objects behind.

With its all-steel, fully zinc-galvanized, 5-door, 2-section body, the new Octavia RS is 4572 mm long, 1769 mm wide and 1462 mm high. The outstanding road performance is partly due to its large total wheelbase span of 2578 mm. The interior is plenty of room for all passengers, with up to 1164 mm in the front and up to 883 mm in the back. The cabin is 1380 mm wide in the front seats and 1374 mm in the back. The distance from the seat base to the roof is 981 mm in the front and 966 mm in the back.

The volum of the boot is above average. When folded down the rear seats, it can increase to 1350 liters.
