2020 Ford Mustang Four-Cylinder - Driven

2020 Ford Mustang Four-Cylinder - Driven

In 2019, we got the chance to spend a week with the Ford Mustang GT Convertible,, and it was an absolute blast to drive. In fact, we even described it as presenting a “few reasons why you still need a V-8.” Ever since then, we’ve been wondering about the four-cylinder Mustang, aka the Mustang EcoBoost. Can a Mustang with a four-cylinder engine really live up to the name of a thoroughbred muscle car? Well, after months of asking, a 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Convertible landed in the parking lot outside of TopSpeed HQ. That car was destined to spend the next week with us, and now we want to give you our impression of the beast with a little but dominating heart.

The Demon-inspired Charger Hellcat Redeye is the quickest and most powerful sedan you can buy

The 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is the range-topping version of Charger four-door sedan lineup. The 2021 Dodge Durango Is About More Than a Facelift Thanks to the New 710-Horsepower SRT Hellcat Trim

The 2021 Dodge Durango Is About More Than a Facelift Thanks to the New 710-Horsepower SRT Hellcat Trim

With this, every 2021 Dodge model now has an SRT trim in its lineup

The current-gen Durango has been in the running for a decade now, and it was high time for the fourth-gen to make its debut. However, the company announced that it’ll just be a facelift. But, after seeing the 2021 Durango “facelift”, we are not complaining because this is even better than the next-gen stuff.

Apart from the exterior and cabin upgrades, Dodge has added an SRT trim to the Durango’s lineup that brings with it the Hellcat engine. The Durango equipped with this mill will make a mammoth 710 horses that will allow the heavy family hauler to sprint to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds! Well, this a fourth of July present from FCA that we’ll gleefully accept.

2020 Dodge Charger 392 Scat Pack Widebody - Driven

Dodge’s mid-performance muscle car fits perfectly between the Hellcat and R/T trim levels

The demand for sedans – and cars in general, for that matter – has been plummeting for some now, and a lot of automakers have started to or completely withdrawn from the segment altogether. As of now, you’d be hard pressed to find a performance sedan outside of the Dodge Charger, without looking to German- or Japanese-built cars, and even then, a big chunk of those fall into the luxury category. This week, we were treated to a week’s worth of driving the 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody, and it got us to thinking – without any real homegrown competition, does this car have what it takes to compete with mid-performance offerings from Germany? Well, it’s a tough call, and there’s a lot to take into consideration, so as we dive into our experience with the Charger Scat Pack Widebody, we’re going to explore just how it stacks up against its closest German competitors, the BMW M340i and the Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan.

Chevrolet C8 Corvette by Extreme Turbo Systems

Chevrolet C8 Corvette by Extreme Turbo Systems

This Turbocharged C8 Corvette Is Just As Powerful as a Lamborghini Aventador S

The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is awesome in it of itself. With 495 horsepower on tap in the Z51 guise, the 2020 Vette can set a blistering pace, taking only three seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. So if a 495-horsepower Corvette C8 Z51 is already capable of such speeds, imagine what a 736-horsepower Corvette C8 is capable of when it goes under the tuning ringer.

Extreme Turbo Systems — the name says it all — recently worked on a bone stock Corvette C8 Z51 with the goal of raising its power to supercar levels. The tuning firm even released a video of the Vette C8 strapped to a dyno rig, undergoing serious testing. The video isn’t particularly exciting, but make no mistake about it, this Corvette C8 Z51 isn’t your typical 2020 Corvette. You might even say that this Vette can give the Lamborghini Aventador S a serious run for its money.

2020 BMW 8 Series Golden Thunder Edition

Looks nice, but is it what the 8 Series needs right now?

BMW is back at its special edition game with a new attire for the 8 Series. While the package looks alright and will at least prevent owners from painting their 8er’s rims gold, we cannot not wonder just how helpful will the Golden Thunder Edition prove to be for the 8 Series’ sales cause.

Limited to only 50 units, the 2020 720S Le Mans comes with unique features inside and out, and it’s powered by the same V-8 engine as the standard model.

A limited-edition model that revives the Mach 1 nameplate after 17 years, the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 bridges the gap between the GT and the Shelby GT350 models. 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo by Novitec

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo by Novitec

German tuner unleashes the beast out of Ferrari’s newest supercar

Just as customers are now receiving their Ferrari F8 Tributos, a new aftermarket program is already available for Maranello’s successor to the 488 GTB. As most have likely guessed correctly, this program comes to us by way of Novitec, the Italian tuner that’s best known for its work on some of Italia’s finest supercars. This new program for the F8 Tributo is a chop off the old block for the German tuner. It’s tricked out with an impressive engine upgrade, a new set of wheels, and improvements to the suspension that should make the F8 more potent on the road and track. The package also comes with an aerodynamic body kit, but as it is with early bird tuning kits, the aforementioned aero kit remains in the oven and will be launched at a later time. Still, it’s hard not to like what Novitec already has on the table for the F8 Tributo. After all, it’s not easy to turn a 700-horsepower supercar into a bonafide spitfire.

The Heritage Design package is just a visual upgrade, with no modifications to the drivetrain, and it pays tribute to Porsche from the 1950s and early 1960s.

2020 Lamborghini Huracan EVO by Novitec

2020 Lamborghini Huracan EVO by Novitec

The Italian tuner is a master in excess

The Lamborghini Huracan EVO is one of those cars that arguably needs little to no improvement. It already packs a 5.2-liter V-10 engine that produces 631 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. It can split a 60 mph time in just 2.9 seconds and it peaks at a top speed of 201 mph. Lamborghini set up the Huracan EVO to be a monster, but as we’ve seen over and over again, even the fiercest of monsters have levels that they can go up to. That job doesn’t fall on Lamborghini; that falls on the shoulders of aftermarket tuners like Novitec.

The Italian aftermarket company is known far and wide for its elaborate programs for Italy’s finest exotics. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Prancing Horse or a Raging Bull, Novitec can build tuning programs like nobody’s business. Take this kit for the aforementioned Huracan EVO, for example. It’s not enough that the mighty Lambo is what it is; Novitec wants to make it better, and that’s exactly what it did. From an aerodynamic body kit to a new set of wheels to an engine upgrade program, Novitec’s aftermarket program for the Huracan EVO is as extensive as it gets.
