2020 Subaru Gymkhana STI

2020 Subaru Gymkhana STI

There’s a new kid on the Gymkhana block and it comes from Subaru

Travis Pastrana will be taking the reins from Ken Block in Gymkhana 11, Subaru sniffed out the opportunity and that’s how the one-off, bare-carbon Gymkhana STI was born.

Subaru and Gymkhana are no strangers to each other, as the first two instalments saw Ken Block smoke the living rubber out of a WRX STI. After a long collabo with Ford, the Gymkhana franchise is back to its roots and we absolutely love what we’re seeing.

Thanks to the 2021 Subaru Levorg Wagon, We Know What the New WRX Will Look Like

Thanks to the 2021 Subaru Levorg Wagon, We Know What the New WRX Will Look Like

This is the WRX’s Cousin From the Land of the Rising Sun So There’s a Lot of Common DNA

If the Subaru Levorg doesn’t trigger the neurotransmitters and tickle the temporal lobe in your brain, I’m honestly not too surprise. The Subaru Levorg is mainly a Japanese-only affair with Australia and a handful of European countries getting their hand’s on it only recently, after some 4-5 years on the market. As a wagon, it’s not surprising that Subaru hasn’t brought it to the U.S., but it’s still largely relevant here for one major reason – it has historically shared a lot of DNA with the Subaru WRX. The car that you see here is the second-gen, 2021 Subaru Levorg, which means that we’re getting our first real look at what the next-gen WRX and WRX STI are going to look like here in the United States. Pretty cool, right?

2021 Subaru Crosstrek

2021 Subaru Crosstrek

These updates make the 2021 Crosstrek an absolute cracker of a package

The Subaru Crosstrek is one of the most underrated crossovers available in the market today. It is one of the best-selling Subarus in the States, but not the breadwinner for the Japanese automaker. The crossover has been lauded for its excellent overall value for money, hatch-like driving experience, and versatility. It is essentially an Impreza with an off-road bias.

The company introduced the second-gen of the crossover in 2018, and for the 2021 model, Subaru has refreshed the car. It comes with a few aesthetic changes, a new mill under the hood, and a new trim. Will this help boost the Crosstrek’s sales?

2022 Subaru WRX STI: Making the 2021 Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 Capable of 400 Horsepower

2022 Subaru WRX STI: Making the 2021 Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 Capable of 400 Horsepower

The tuning capability of the Ascent’s 2.4-liter engine could open a lot of doors

We’ve learned a lot about the next-gen Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86. We know that a deal between both companies will make Subaru an affiliate company of Toyota and that the twins will switch over to Toyota’s TNGA platform. More recently, we learned that they would both feature a turbocharged version of the Subaru Ascent’s 2.4-liter flat-four,, and that’s a bigger deal than we thought. A new report says that the 2022 Subaru WRX STI will feature the same exact engine, although it will be tuned to deliver 400 horsepower. Does that mean that, with a little extra work, the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 can be pumped up to that level of performance too?

Wallpaper of the Day: 2018 Subaru WRX STI

Rally’s greatest hero in road-going form

The Subaru WRX has a long and illustrious history as one of the greatest cars to ever grace the World Rally Championship. In competition form, it packs the absolute best package for AWD trail decimation. In road-going form, it’s not far off, as it includes an awesome four-cylinder engine, Subaru’s amazing all-wheel-drive system, and the sportiest look to ever grace a non-German sedan. With 305 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque from the 2.5-liter boxer engine, it can sprint to 60 mph in as little as 4.6 seconds – that’s 0.7-seconds faster than the Volkswagen Golf R and 0.1-seconds faster than the Ford Focus RS. With that kind of power, and it’s amazing look, we decided that the 2018 Subaru WRX STI deserves some screen time and thought you, our readers, might want to do the same. As such, we’ve picked out our favorite wallpaper below.

Video Reviews for the 2019 Subaru Forester are Finally In and You Need to See Them

All-new Forester may look the same, but it’s even better than before

You may not be able to instantly tell by looking at it, but the 2019 Subaru Forester is an all-new vehicle riding on a new platform. Subaru has opted to keep it looking familiar so as not to upset the excellent image it’s created for it, but at the same time, its capabilities have been expanded in all directions.

2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

The 2019 Crosstrek is Subaru’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle, and it’s set to go on sale in 2019. Like all PHEVs, it has some all-electric range, and it can even cruise close to highway speeds on electricity alone. And, when its gasoline engine and electrification work in tandem, it can result in excellent fuel economy figures. Unlike many plug-in versions of regular models, the Crosstrek Hybrid doesn’t really shout about what it is. There are some details that give it away, though and if one passes by in full EV mode, the lack of engine sound will also give it away. Inside it’s quite simple and minimalist, and far less extravagant to look a than any modern plug-in Toyota and Honda model. But, it does have a decent infotainment screen and the build quality does make up for its lack of design flair to a degree.

Update 12/3/2018: We’ve updated this review with new images taken at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Check them out in the gallery below!

Subaru Might Be Planning a Return to WRC With New Hot Hatch

Subaru Might Be Planning a Return to WRC With New Hot Hatch

And Mitsubishi could return to the fray as well after Subaru

Subaru is one of the most revered names in rallying history and, along with archrival Mitsubishi, has been absent from top-level WRC competition for a decade. Now, however, Japanese sources point to a possible resurgence of the Subaru WRC program.

Subaru built its reputation in rallying over a relatively short period of time. the Subaru World Rally Team was formed in 1989 and was active for less than two decades from that point on. But, in those two decades, Subaru put forth some of the most amazing machines ever seen on the WRC scene and promoted some of the sport’s most beloved drivers with names like Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Petter Solberg immediately springing to mind.

Sadly, Subaru isn’t part of the WRC anymore, although a no-limit rally car based on the Impreza has been seen competing to this day, however, it’s mainly racing in Asia and the Rally U.S.A. series, not in Europe. This is all about to change if rumors regarding a return of the Subaru World Rally Team in 2020 turn out to be legitimate.

Travis Pastrana Goes Full Throttle at Wild New NRX Track

There’s going to be a lot of air time when you’re around this course

Travis Pastrana didn’t mince his words describing the NRX track, calling it a “hell track for cars.” Pastrana knows a thing or two about hell track for racers. He’s competed — and won — in supercross, motocross, freestyle motocross, and rally racing. But even with his accomplishments, Pastrana still paid reverence to the track that will be used in the Nitro World Games by taking us on a flying lap around the circuit.

2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA-R

2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA-R

Japan’s getting another special edition WRX STI while the rest of us can only look at it

Though it’s true that most of them are found only in Japan, there are no shortages in special edition Subaru WRX STIs in the world. We all need to remind ourselves of that because Subaru is releasing another special edition version of its power-packed performance sedan, and it’s once again exclusive to the Japanese market. It’s called the WRX STI Type RA-R, and it’s essentially a lighter and more powerful version of the WRX STI Type RA, one of the few special edition versions that made its way in the U.S. market.

2019 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Series.Gray

Limited-edition package adds new paint and extra standard features

Having just celebrated 50 years in the U.S. with a batch of limited-edition packages for eight different models at the Chicago Auto Show, Subaru unveiled two more special-edition versions of the WRX and WRX STI at the 2018 Subaru Tecnica International Boxerfest in Washington D.C.

Much like the 50th Anniversary Edition, the Series.Gray comes with a special exterior paint, a sportier interior, and extra standard equipment. Only 1,000 units of the Series.Gray cars will be produced, with 750 WRX and only 250 WRX STI models to leave the factory. Besides being produced in smaller numbers, the WRX STI also gets a revised chassis for a sportier ride. Let’s find out more about both cars in the review below.

Subaru Announces Bumped WRX Pricing for 2019 to Go with Extra Juice for the STI

It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing

It’s not very often we can start out talking about any car with the words “it comes standard with a manual transmission,” but that’s how we’re starting today. This is fantastic news, considering previous rumors suggested that Subaru would kill off the manual because Eyesight isn’t compatible. (180284) Back to the real reason we’re here, Subaru has confirmed what we told you back on April 13, 2019 – the 2019 WRX STI will get a minor bump in power. It’s just five horsepower, and Subbie went to a lot to make it happen, but it’s there. It also comes with a bump to pricing across the line.

2018 Subaru Crosstrek - Driven

2018 Subaru Crosstrek - Driven

I see a lot of the Subaru Crosstrek. After spending a week behind the wheel of one, I finally understand why they’re so numerous in my area despite the fact there’s no Subaru dealer nearby.

The Crosstrek proved itself equal parts practical, efficient, and rugged during my weeklong test drive. It’s fitting that Subaru does so much advertising targeted at dog owners. The Subaru Crosstrek was as lovable as a golden retriever, as ruggedly handsome as an Alaskan malamute, and as stoic as a Weimaraner in the face of difficult conditions.
