2019 Subaru Viziv Adrenaline Concept
Expectedly, Subaru is among the first ones to jump onto the wagon of endless teasers released before an auto show to introduce us to a new vehicle. In this case, the Japanese company we all adore released a really dark teaser of what is called the Subaru Viziv Adrenaline Concept. It is the seventh Viziv concept since 2013, and it definitely projects what will become an all-new car. Well, in the case of the Viziv Adrenaline Concept - what will become an all-new crossover. Because, of course, it is a crossover. Maybe even one that will evolve like a Pokemon into the next Crosstrek.
Subaru is really, like really, really secretive about it for now, but I did find out a thing or two about it and can make some logical conclusions.
2018 Subaru Viziv Tourer Concept
While it hasn’t introduced many brand-new models in recent years, Subaru was pretty busy showcasing new design features and technologies with a range of concepts under the Viziv name. The first one arrived in 2013, and since then Subaru has launched a new Viziv design each year. The latest iteration, known as the Viziv Tourer Concept, broke cover at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, and it features a five-door body layout.
Naturally, the Tourer shares many design features with previous Viziv concept cars. It also shares upcoming driver-assist technologies that we will find in production models starting 2020. But unlike some Viziv concepts, which featured hybrid powertrains, the Tourer uses a boxer engine only. The concept could preview a hatchback or wagon version of the WRX, but it could also be an early preview of the next-generation Outback.

Subaru Viziv Performance Concept
Subaru just revealed its latest ultra-sleek concept model at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Dubbed the Viziv Performance (Viziv is shorthand for “Vision for Innovation”), this Scooby is the latest in a series of concept cars to bear the Viziv name, rocking an aggressive exterior and tons of speedy visual cues. This is also the very first four-door sedan to come from the concept line, which can only mean one thing – this is what Subaru’s designers imagine for the next WRX. The emphasis is on driving fun and attention-grabbing details, both of which the Viziv Performance manages to accomplish, at least on paper. So then, what does it say about the brand’s favorite rally star? Read on for details.

2017 Subaru VIZIV-7 SUV Concept
Does the Viziv name sound familiar to you? Well, it should because that’s the name Subaru has used for a large SUV concept not once, not twice, but now three times. It started back in 2013 with the Subaru Viziv Concept that debuted with a funky set of side doors at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. A couple of years later, Subaru showed up at the Tokyo Motor Show with the 2015 Subaru Viziv Future Concept. That second iteration was more toned down that then first – the funky doors were gone – but the interior was still heavily futuristic. Fast forward to the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show and Subaru was back at it again with the Viziv-7 Concept, a model that showcases what a large, three-row SUV from Subaru will look like when it makes its debut in 2018. To date, we have yet to see the inside of the concept – the doors were even locked at the show, with the interior hidden away by tinted windows – but as far as the exterior goes, this baby is ready to go into production.
As far as SUV’s and crossovers go, Subaru doesn’t have much. There’s the Compact Subaru Outback, which isn’t really as much a crossover or SUV as it is a wagon with jacked up suspension. Then there’s the Crosstrek, which is an Impreza with a raised roof and suspension, and then there’s the Forester, which in every sense of the word is an SUV, but it’s still in the compact segment. That means that Subaru has some room to grow if it really wants to compete in the world of gas guzzlers that is the American SUV Market. The production model derived from the Viziv-7 will fit more in the large-SUV category and will compete against the likes of models like the GMC Yukon, Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, Chevy Tahoe, and Ford Expedition, to name a small handful.
Needless to say,Subaru has its work cut out for it if it expects its newest SUV to gain any traction at all in the market. The competition is stiff, and for folks buying in this segment, fuel economy isn’t as important as the number of passengers something can haul or the cargo space available. With that said, let’s take a better look at the Viziv-7 concept and talk about what we can expect from the future model it represents.

It might not be immediately obvious, but what you are looking at here is a preview of the next generation of the Subaru Legacy. The current generation of the Legacy is still pretty new, but that just means that Subaru has a lot of time to play around with wacky concepts in order to gauge the public response to various aspects of the design. This concept is called the Viziv Future Concept, and it will be officially debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show. The concept is semi-autonomous, has two fewer doors than the production version of the Legacy and features a wacky sci-fi interior, but there is some very clear evolution of current Subaru ideas in this car.
The name Viziv is said to be a shortening of “vision for innovation”, and is therefore pretty standard concept fare. Also pretty standard for a concept is the bikes that the concept is carrying, a car show trope that signals a car for active/young people to use for active and young things. Subaru can at least be commended for choosing bikes that match the car so well. And the truth is that the Legacy is good for those sorts of things and this future one probably would be too.

More than a year after the BMW Vision Gran Turismo broke cover at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, Subaru is joining the virtual fray with the Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo Concept, a plug-in hybrid racer that has about as many pointy edges as a Transformer. A quick look at the concept reveals a lot about Subaru’s design strategy for this car, beginning with the headlight and taillight casings that look similar to the Viziv 2 Concept that was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The Gran Turismo-exclusive concept also has a dramatically contoured hood with a pair of air intakes, pronounced fenders, slit-like side mirrors, and a massive rear wing that appears to be split in two and integrated into the sloping glass roof.
In other words, it’s a concept that fits right in with all the other Vision Gran Turismo Concepts we’ve seen throughout 2014.
Subaru hasn’t announced when it will debut the Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo Concept, but it took the wraps off the virtual race car right before the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Viziv GT Vision is scheduled to arrive "soon" with Gran Turismo’s 1.14 update, which gives us plenty of time to talk about it before hooning it on the world’s greatest race tracks.

2014 Subaru VIZIV-2 Concept
The Subaru Viziv Concept turned a lot of heads at the Geneva Motor Show when it first debuted and like a company that knows it has a good thing on its hands, Subaru is coming back to the scene of the show-stopping crime to present a worthy — we hope — sequel to the Viziv Concept. The new concept is smartly named the Viziv 2 Concept, and its a pretty clear indication by now that Subaru isn’t just toying with us with these prototypes. The company has plans for these concepts, and we’re probably going to get our first look at a new crossover that will become a stalwart in the Subaru lineup.
The Geneva Motor Show is set to host one of the biggest showcases of concept cars for the entire year. It seems that every automaker is bringing a concept to the show and, as expected, that includes Japanese automaker Subaru.
One of Subaru’s concept offerings is the Viziv Crossover, a concept model that is expected to preview the next-generation styling language of Subaru’s crossover lineup along with new technologies that the automaker is fixing to use for its future models.
Although there’s only one teaser image to look at, there are plenty of notable features about the Viziv Concept that you can take notice of. The most significant, obviously, are those outrageous slit-like LED headlights that, while awesome in concept guise, we’re not entirely sure will ever make it past the concept phase. A trapezoidal grille is also prominently shown in the teaser as is what looks like a front spoiler.
It’ll be interesting to see what Subaru did with the Viziv Crossover Concept. The early returns are definitely promising and if we do say so ourselves, we’re looking forward to seeing the whole thing when the Geneva Motor Show opens its doors in a month’s time.
