The new Suzuki Jimny became an instant icon, an instant conversation starter, and an instant problem for Suzuki. The Japanese company simply cannot cope with the demand. The production facilities are working at their absolute limits, but there is no way for Suzuki to produce enough to meet the demand. That’s a problem.

Nevertheless, those produced are already being trashed somewhere on some off-road terrain. Some of them, however, managed to reach the garages of the most recognizable tuners out there. First, we were treated to that awesome Liberty Walk modification that basically turned the Suzuki Jimny into a baby Mercedes-Benz G-Class. At least in the virtual world, but I believe one can order it right now. On the other hand, we got an all-new look at another modified Suzuki Jimny. This one is done up by Wald International, a Japanese company known for its Black Bison Edition line of modifications. That’s exactly what the new Jimny received - and it's awesome.

Exterior

While Wald International's Jimny work is still only in its infancy and only exists in the virtual realm, we can actually see what the designers have envisioned for the baby off-roader. Painted in dark grey, the Suzuki Jimny Black Bison Edition showcases some of the classic off-road gear usually associated with the best off-roaders.

Wald International apparently changed a lot. The Wald International Jimny features include:

-* A black bonnet that comes with a massive intake

-* A new, robust grille and light surrounds made from a single piece

-* A fantastic bumper with red detailing and a special protective plate (I believe that this one will further improve approach angle)

-* LEDs on the bumper surrounded by red housing

-* Massive fenders on the sides that hide new wheels

-* New rear bumper details

-* A massive spoiler at the back

While I really love the design work that Wald International invested in the new Jimny, I find that the rear spoiler on the roof is totally unnecessary. It is something that teenager would put on an off-roader. Wald International, however, is known exactly for things like this. In spite of the spoiler (which can be omitted in the real-world version), the Black Bison Edition Jimny will definitely be best known for the massive tires. Off-road tires and awesome (I guess 15-inch) wheels, make the most of the Jimny's rugged styling. I would guess that Wald International did something to increase the clearance and, consequently, the suspension travel.

Drivetrain

Wald International is a Japanese tuning firm. No, I am not joking. That is what actually powers the new Jimny - with its 4x4 drive and body-on-frame construction. The Europeans, who apparently love this little thing a lot, get the one with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that develops 100 horsepower and 95 pound-feet of torque. While still not exactly a powerhouse, the European Jimny with its diminutive size, but with a 100 horsepower engine, feels much happier than the one from Japan.

Final Thoughts

The Suzuki Jimny is the cutest and the nicest off-roader, possibly, ever. The worldwide craze about it will not cease in the near future, and the orders prove that. Suzuki cannot produce enough of them. Previously, we have seen numerous modified iterations of the Jimny and even the Samurai. We are in for a fun couple of years when everyone will be giving the Jimny a dash of new life with exterior upgrades, off-road gear upgrades, and, I hope, engine upgrades.

This one being a Sports Line of the Black Bison Edition, you can expect an even more rugged version by Wald International in the future.
