The Changes Are Prominent

The 2019 Vitara adopts more than mere tweaks here and there. Even the interiors are refreshed with silver accents on the doorpads, center console, and dashboard. The instrument cluster gets a colored multi information display, and the area above the instrument cluster gets soft padding. However, Suzuki’s emotional attachment to the same decade-old switches has still not gone. These have carried over across models and even across continents. Please tell us, Suzuki, why don’t you get rid of these?

The Vitara Is Much Safer Now

In terms of safety also the 2019 Vitara comes with some updates. The Radar Brake Support only relied on millimeter-wave radar, while the Dual Sensor Brake Support uses both, a monocular camera and laser radar. This adds pedestrian detection to the collision damage mitigation braking function. It also includes Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Under The Hood

The 2019 Vitara’s highlight is the addition of the new Boosterjet engines. The higher trims are offered with a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that produces 138 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. These two engines, shared with the S-Cross, replace the Vitara’s naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engines. Suzuki has not announced anything about the diesel engines. Both the units are available with Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel-drive system, either with manual or automatic transmissions.

Other Points

The Vitara competes against the likes of Honda HR-V and Nissan Juke. Although Suzuki hasn’t yet released pricing in all its markets, in Germany, it starts at €18,650 ($22,000). Do the new images intrigue you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
