2019 Suzuki Jimny Black Bison Edition by Wald International
The new Suzuki Jimny became an instant icon, an instant conversation starter, and an instant problem for Suzuki. The Japanese company simply cannot cope with the demand. The production facilities are working at their absolute limits, but there is no way for Suzuki to produce enough to meet the demand. That’s a problem.
Nevertheless, those produced are already being trashed somewhere on some off-road terrain. Some of them, however, managed to reach the garages of the most recognizable tuners out there. First, we were treated to that awesome Liberty Walk modification that basically turned the Suzuki Jimny into a baby Mercedes-Benz G-Class. At least in the virtual world, but I believe one can order it right now. On the other hand, we got an all-new look at another modified Suzuki Jimny. This one is done up by Wald International, a Japanese company known for its Black Bison Edition line of modifications. That’s exactly what the new Jimny received - and it’s awesome.
Ever since it became a subcompact crossover, the Suzuki Vitara has managed to outsell almost everything in its class. I cannot say that Suzuki hit the jackpot with it, but it sure got close. Really close. Now in its third year of production, the car has received a mid-cycle facelift that gives it exterior features and a more refined cabin. It Completely ditched the most popular engine from the lineup, though. The 1.6-liter, naturally aspirated engine was replaced with the Boosterjet engine. It is a 1.0-liter that’s good for 109 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. Obviously, not the most powerful engine out there, but it is expected to outsell the other one in the line up (the 1.4-liter, 138 horsepower engine) by quite a margin.
2019 Suzuki Jimny
The fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny has arrived, and as usual with the small off-roader, it’s packing plenty of might and muscle in such a small frame. The baby off-road machine gets plenty of new features, a lot of which have been thrown in to get fans of the model new reasons to get excited about what it has to offer. And it has a lot to offer. It may not be as powerful as other off-roaders in the market, but there’s something to be said for a Suzuki that has lasted this long and has gained somewhat of a cult following of its own. The fourth-gen Jimny is here, and it couldn’t have arrived soon enough.
2019 Suzuki Jimny
Most Americans miss out on some really interesting things. Fine, missing out on Kinder eggs is one thing, but missing out on some amazing cars is where we should draw the line.
Take for example the Suzuki Jimny - a pocket-size off-roader capable of treading where only a few would dare. After three generations and more than 2.25 million units sold since 1970, Suzuki finally revealed the first official photos of the fourth generation Jimny.
And, that only happened after some customers captured photos of the new Jimny at a Suzuki private event and published them online. An official live presentation is scheduled for the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.

2018 Suzuki Swift Sport
Introduced in 2000 as the Suzuki Ignis, the Swift was redesigned in 2004 and again in 2010 when the third-generation model was launched. In 2017, Suzuki brought the fourth-generation into the spotlight with the company’s brand-new design language, which debuted on the slightly bigger Baleno. Unveiled for the European market at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the new Swift received its higher-performance Sport version a few months later, at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Developed as a higher performance version aimed at similar offerings from Volkswagen and Ford, the Swift Sport has been around since 2005. The recipe was pretty much simple and revolved mostly around a slightly more powerful engine and a few chassis tweaks. Unlike hot-hatches like the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Ford Fiesta ST, the Swift Sport didn’t really stand out in the lineup styling-wise. But this changes with the new hatchback, which gained a more individual appearance and even a range of unique features. Let’s find out more about that in the review below.

2017 Suzuki Swift
Introduced in 2000 as the Suzuki Ignis, the Swift was redesigned in 2004 and again in 2010 when the familiar third-generation model was launched. In 2017, the Swift passed into its fourth generation and received the company’s brand-new design language, which debuted on the Baleno hatchback. The redesigned Swift was launched in Japan in late December 2016 and made its European debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Much like the Baleno, the new Swift is a big step forward in terms of styling. Unlike the third-gen car, which was a mildly revised version of the second-gen model, the new Swift boasts a new design language. In short, Suzuki finally dropped the styling cues it introduced all the way back in 2004 and moved the hatchback into the 21st century design-wise. The new Swift also rides on new underpinnings. Shared with the Baleno, the platform is about 15 percent lighter and increases body rigidity by about ten percent. The new platform should provide better driving dynamics and help the hatchback return improved fuel economy, a decisive factor in this highly contested niche.

2016 Suzuki S-Cross
Suzuki first launched the SX4 in 2006, offering the affordable compact in both a five-door hatchback and a four-door sedan body style. Then in October of 2013, the Japanese brand decided to revamp the nameplate for the second-generation changeover, ushering in the five-door SportBack model and creating Suzuki’s first-ever C-segment crossover. But now, the SX4 is need of an update, and with that in mind, Suzuki has released a face-lifted iteration for the 2016 model year. Included with the refresh is a styling overhaul, loads of infotainment gear, and a broad portfolio of gas and diesel engine options.
Unfortunately, Suzuki said it was discontinuing U.S. sales back in 2012, but the automaker continues to perform well internationally, especially with regards to the SX4. Also known as the Maruti in select Asian markets, the SX4 is one of the automaker’s most important models.

Suzuki unveiled two concept cars at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the 2015 Suzuki IK-2 and the 2015 Suzuki IM-4, which previewed a subcompact hatchback and a mini crossover, respectively. While the IK-2 has already made its debut in production form as the 2016 Suzuki Baleno, the IM-4 is still under development, albeit in its final stages, as an official debut has been announced for the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show in October.
Confirmed to hit the market with an Ignis badge, the new crossover if part of Suzuki’s new expansion plan to include six models by the end of the decade. Originally believed to have been developed to replace the aging Jimny, the Ignis will have its own place in the Suzuki lineup, as the Jimny is slated to hang around until 2018, when it will be replaced by a redesigned model.
Granted, the Jimny and the Ignis are very similar in size, but it’s not surprising that Suzuki will sell them at the same time. After all, the new Baleno is only slightly bigger than the Swift, with the two basically competing in the same niche. From the looks of things, the Ignis has set its sight on the 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4, also a competitor for the Jimny.

The Suzuki Swift debuted in 2000, but its roots stretch back to the debut of the Cultus in 1983, which was rebadged as the Swift in countries other than Japan. The second-gen Swift hit the market in 2004 and the third — and current — generation launched in 2010. Heading into the 2014 model year, the Swift receives a new SZ-L Special Edition that receives some fancy paint work.
Oh, look. It’s a Suzuki. More importantly, or at least in this particular instance, it’s a Suzuki Swift SZ-L Special Edition! Wait, this is a special edition model?
The term "Special Edition" is supposed to apply to something truly special. Unfortunately, the automotive industry is prone to abusing this term, so we are not surprised to hear that this "special edition" Suzuki isn’t really all that special.
This Swift SZ-L does have features that standard Swift models don’t have, so we have to give Suzuki some credit here. Suzuki is packaging the Swift SZ-L Special Edition by adding an exclusive two-tone metallic paint finish with a choice of either a Boost Blue or a Cosmic Black hue. Both colors come with a contrasting Cool White roof, not to mention a rear spoiler, and door mirrors.

Suzuki unveiled the IV-4 — a concept car that previews a new crossover that will replace the Grand Vitara — at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. And now our spy photographers caught a prototype of the production version is out testing.
As you can see, the prototype is heavily camouflaged, so it’s pretty difficult to know what is hiding beneath. Still, considering an SX4 was testing next to it, and that it was wearing the typical Suzuki camo, it pretty evident that this is s Suzuki crossover of some sort, likely the next-gen Grand Vitara.
This new Grand Vitara will use Suzuki’s latest ALLGRIP four-wheel-drive system, but it will also come in your basic front-wheel-drive setup.
Suzuki promised that this new crossover will lightest model in its class, with lowest fuel consumption and the lowest CO2 emissions.
Though we are not 100-percent certain that this new crossover will carry the Grand Vitara name, we are pretty sure that we’ll see it in 2015. Sorry U.S. buyers, Suzuki does not plan to sell it, or any other model, in the U.S. any time soon...

Back in July, we brought you the first spy shots of the second generation Suzuki SX4 set to arrive on the market in 2013. Those images revealed a heavily camouflaged prototype and these new spy shots wouldn’t have revealed that much more, except for the fact that the driver didn’t realize there were spy photographers around when he decided to peel away some of the cammo. At one point, most of the rear end was revealed, providing details that weren’t supposed to be uncovered just yet.
The second generation SX4 won’t be built as a joint venture with Fiat as is the current generation and will be offered in a five-door SportBack version which will add more sportiness to the car. Its exterior design will be inspired by recently launched Suzuki models - like the Kizashi - which will allow it to have harder edges in its more modern design (seen at the rear end in these spy shots). In fact, the exposed portion of the rear end is entirely more aggressive than the mommy-type styling of the current generation. The interior will also be revamped, getting a series of new technologies. Under the hood, Suzuki will offer a wide range of engines, with the top version being powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder with an output of about 150 HP.
Launched back in 2006, the Suzuki SX4 has only been offered as a hatchback or a sedan. However, the second generation - set to arrive in 2013 - will include a new five-door SportBack version which will add a bit more sportiness to the car.
The new Sportback SX4 has been caught testing for the first time, and it seems Suzuki has decided to heavily camouflage the prototype in order to keep us from learning anything new about the upcoming model. Still, it is pretty clear that the next SX4 will be heavily influenced by the look of the Kizashi sedan, while the interior will receive a series of new technologies.
As for the engine line-up, expect to see a choice of smaller engines, with the top version receiving a 2.0 liter four-cylinder with an output of about 150 HP. Suzuki will offer both front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, plus a choice of manual or CVT transmissions.
Updated 09/04/2012: The upcoming Suzuki SX4 has been caught testing one more time, and now it reveals some more details, especially at the back.
Suzuki’s line-up of cars that will be displayed at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show strongly suggests the direction these guys are planning to go: "Let’s do away with the high-performance and focus on future global compact cars!"
One of the models that’s scheduled to be in attendance is the Suzuki Regina Concept, a lightweight minicar that Suzuki is promoting as a future city-dweller. The Regina’s exterior design hints at the green initiative the company going for. The Lime Green paint finish is a pretty strong indication of that, as is the the overall shape of the car that makes it look like a turtle.
All joking aside, the set-up is pretty cool, especially the contrasting white roof that adds a touch of flavor to the car without being a little too flashy. Apparently, the Regina Concept also has small rear view cameras tucked into the rear and semi-covered rear wheels that are made possible by the odd crease lines on the body panels.
Inside, the Regina Concept also carries the same two-color finish of the exterior, which, when combined to the dark grey surfaces, adds a serene and earthy tone. There’s not much to go around inside, which might suggest a minimalistic approach from Suzuki. All you can really take from it is that it’s got a 2+2 seating configuration and a seemingly out-of-place steering wheel, a tilted center-mounted display that appears to be transparent, and pixelated patterns on the seats and floor mats.
More details about the Regina Concept will be revealed at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show so be sure to be around when that happens in December!
Over the past few years, the Tokyo Motor Show has been kind of a dud because of a number circumstances beyond its control. This year promises to be different and a number of automakers have already previewed some very interesting concepts that will debut in Tokyo next month.
One of these brands is Suzuki, the local Japanese automaker that’s set to preview its new urban vehicle, the Q-Concept.
Described as a new kind of mobility solution, the Q Concept is a tiny 1+1 urban car that can be transformed with two small rear seats that can be completely taken off to accommodate for a larger cargo space in the rear. The Q Concept is replete with unique features, highlighted by a pair of circular doors that open by swiveling around the front-positioned pivot point. Then there’s the rear side window, which has been contoured, forming a panel that slides up and to the rear, providing access to the rear seat.
And we haven’t even gotten to the exterior finish of the car; the combination of white, mixed with elements of orange, provide a spunky look to what already looks like a Jetson-type mode of transportation.
Meanwhile, the interior of the Q Concept features a panoramic windshield that extends upwards to the rood. Two lower side windows also add to the prevalent use of transparent surfaces. The dashboard of the Q Concept also speaks to the car’s circular graphic theme, while the H-shaped steering wheel and the HUD-inspired instrument panel adds plenty of technological - and concept worthy - attractions.
The Suzuki Q Concept will be fully unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, providing us a good glimpse at the future of Suzuki vehicles. Stick around for all the details when they become available!
Suzuki will unveil at the Paris Auto Show its new Alto. This car is based on the A-Star concept revealed in March at the Geneva Auto Show.
Although Suzuki did not reveal any details on the new Alto, we can tell you that under the hood there will be a newly developed 1.0-liter aluminum engine with CO2 emission under 110 grams per kilometer. The new engine is said to be compliant with the new strict Euro-5 emission standards.
In a world where compact and fuel-efficient cars make more sense than big and thirsty ones, this news comes across without any surprise at all. The Swift hatchback from Suzuki has brought several laurels to company and it now surpasses global production of one million cars.
Loved by audiences across the globe and interestingly by tuning companies, the Swift was launched less than four years back intended mainly for the European markets as its design and styling took shape with feedback from there.
Suzuki’s Hungarian plant produces vehicles entirely for Europe which contributed more than 306,000 to the total. Since its launch in the UK, over 36,500 Swifts have been sold showing that it has been received very well by the English people.
The car was first built in Japan, followed by Hungary, China, India and recently Indonesia and Malaysia. There is always this trend followed by manufacturers to change the styling of a car, when releasing it in markets abroad, but interestingly the Swift has undergone little or no changes in its appearance. Now, here’s a lesson for other small car manufacturers- If you plan on making a hatchback for global markets, use feedback from Europe to design the car.
The petrol models, especially the 1.6-litre Sport, are popular for their acceleration and mileage, but the award winning Multijet engine from Fiat under the diesel Swift’s bonnet requires a special mentioning. In countries like India where diesel is preferred over petrol in the small car segment, the manufacturer is unable to meet the demands for the diesel version, thanks to this fabulous engine, which has won infinite hearts.
Here’s some mighty exclusive news. The Concept A-Star from Suzuki sent out strong reverberations throughout the world when the wraps were taken off it at the Delhi Auto Expo in January earlier this year. The design of this small car was the reason for the buzz and company officials declared that they would embark on producing it from the later months of this year. They also confirmed that in India, it would run alongside the existing models rubbishing claims which suggested it would replace the Suzuki Alto.
The leap of an automobile from concept stage to mass-production stage sometimes takes years and that was one of the reasons Suzuki’s statement was taken lightly. But No! It looks like they will stick to what they said and the car could go out on markets including Europe on the promised date. But it also seems like they haven’t stuck to all the design elements of the concept car. Looking at the photographs one can make out the similar grille and headlamps but the rest aren’t carried over. There is still some time left, and we hope the thin-striped LED rear tail lamps are present on the production model. C’mon Suzuki!
The A-segment five-door hatchback will be manufactured exclusively in India and will be shipped to overseas markets (read- Europe, India and other non-US markets) similar to its competitor Hyundai’s i10 hatchback. It will use the help of a Euro 5 compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine which is said to have CO2 emission levels nearing 109g/km making it a fiercely green car! No plans as of yet on a diesel version.
