A Private Garage Can Give Your Tesla Model 3 an Acceleration Boost For Half the Cost
Have you ever wanted to give your Tesla extra power but have had to wait for the automaker to roll out updates? Or, didn’t feel like paying the extra moolah they charge to unlock the added performance? Well, this will intrigue you then. If you watch the YouTube videos posted by Rich from Rich Rebuilds, you may even know his garage-partners, Electrified Garage. These guys have teamed up with a company called Ingenext from Quebec, Canada, and have managed to hack into Tesla’s systems. The company has cracked the code to happiness, and that happiness will cost you half the price of what Tesla charges for a Performance upgrade. Sweet deal, right?
How Many Humans Does it Take to Charge a Tesla Model X?
A lot of ideas in the past have emerged where it has proposed that devices like iPods and mobiles be charged using human kinetic energy. This inventor named Janne Käpylehto has done the same, but for a much larger ‘device’.
He created a power generating station for converting human energy to charge the Tesla Model X. Did he succeed? Of course he did, but the desired result may not be very pleasing to everyone. Nevertheless, it’s an innovation.
Watch the Tesla Cybertruck Cruise Around Mars in This Fan-Made Video
When we got the first glimpse of the Cybertruck, we were convinced that this vehicle doesn’t belong here and it sure is ‘out of the world’. It became the talk of the town for its unconventional, unorthodox design philosophy. But, how would it fare on another planet? Thanks to this video by youtuber Holmes Draws, we can now imagine how the Tesla would look on outer space.
Elon Musk and Jay Leno Cruising in the Tesla Cybertruck Is Painfully Blissful
Back in January, the Cybertruck was spotted with two big names from the automotive industry seated in it. Tesla CEO Elon Musk was riding shotgun in the Cybertruck that was driven by Jay Leno. The drive was for a segment of Jay Leno’s Garage’s latest season, which premiered on May 20, 2020. A short video showing them cruising in the Cybertruck was uploaded on Instagram back then, but now we have a trailer that shows us what to expect from this episode.
Tesla Model S Performance With The ’Cheetah Stance’ Sets A New Quarter-Mile Record
Tesla updated its Launch Mode recently and even introduced the ‘Cheetah Stance’ on the Model S and the Model X. The company sent out over-the-air updates for the same, but before it could be tested widely in the real world, the pandemic brought everything to a halt.
Now that things are slowly opening up, we have the first result in. A Model S Performance set a new quarter-mile record thanks to this update. The car in question completed the sprint in 10.45 seconds. How cool is that?
Did You Know That All Of Tesla’s Products Are Acronymized To Spell SEXY CARS?
Back in February this year, Tesla took part in the Scaled Machine Learning Conference. Tesla’s Senior Director of Artificial Intelligence Andrej Karpathy gave a presentation on the use of artificial intelligence for full self driving.
While the whole presentation is informative and throws light on Tesla’s scaling machine learning models, data algorithms, and infrastructure, there was one particular slide that caught our attention. This showed the whole Tesla range consisting of eight products and the font used to depict them spells out as SEXY CARS. Is this a mere coincidence or an intentional wordplay?
Here’s How to Put A Bigger Motor Into A Tesla Model S 75D
Rich Rebuilds is famous for its EV mods and for fixing flood-affected Teslas. For his most recent project, he converted a friend’s Model S 75D into a P100DL. His friend wanted to trade in his 75D for a P100DL, but the options were pretty expensive.
That’s when he reached out to Rich and asked him to convert the present car to a much more powerful and efficient one. All said and done, this conversion was successful and it cost him one third of the price of a new P100D altogether.
What Do People Have To Say About The Model Y?
It looks like the Coronavirus ‘catastrophe’ has not affected Tesla one bit. The automaker finally commenced deliveries of the Model Y in the U.S. and it has been the talk of the town ever since.
The Model Y is the fifth production model from Tesla and is going to be the most important product in the lineup. In fact, even Elon Musk believes that Model Y will eventually be the highest-selling product for the company. Now that the crossover is out, does it live up to its hype? A few popular YouTubers managed to get their hands on it and here is a recap of their initial impression about the Tesla Model Y.
Can You Really Make a Tesla Bulletproof?
In one of his earlier videos, YouTuber ItsYeBoi said that if he gets 50,000 likes, he will “Shoot his Tesla.” Well, the viewers obliged and he had had no option but to go ahead and do it. This, of course, didn’t mean he would blow up his Model 3 by any means. Instead, he decided to shoot the car’s window. Now, the Model 3’s stock window is not bulletproof like the Cybertruck’s, so this dude decided to paste a thick laminate over the existing window that would, in theory, allow the glass to survive ‘the shoot’. But, as the video’s title suggests, “Can A Bulletproof Tesla Really Stop A Bullet?”
Watch A Tesla Model 3 Equipped With Snowtracks Traverse Over Snow With Ease
If you plan to take your car to a snowy area, what do you do? Get a set of winter and snow tires, or wrap around snow chains, right? Well, this dude took things to the next level by swapping the rear tires with snow tracks! Michael uploaded a video on his YouTube channel lowlifeduramax where you can see this Model 3-turned-snowmobile in action. Surprisingly, he managed to keep the Model 3 in one piece even after multiple runs.
The List of Cars This Modified Tesla Model 3 Beat Around Tsukuba Circuit In Japan is Outlandish At Best
So, there is this Tesla Model 3 Performance that has been modified by Unplugged Performance, and it’s a downright beast. It’s modified roots are clear as day as it looks as aggressive as it, apparently, drives. Owned by YouTuber Dærik, it was recently taken to the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan where it posted an extremely impressive lap time of 1:04.7. The list of cars that it just beat around that very track is painful to read. Check out a video about the car and what it beat just a little further down the page.
Jay Leno and Elon Musk Spotted Cruising Around In The Cybertruck
After being out of the limelight for some time now, the Tesla Cybertruck is back in the news. The Cybertruck was spotted with two big shots of the automotive industry seated behind the bulletproof glasses.
Riding shotgun was Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, and behind the wheel was the face of none other than Jay Leno. A short video showing them cruising in the Cybertruck was uploaded on Instagram. The drive is for a segment of Jay Leno’s Garage. Imagine sitting in the Cybertruck and listening to these two talk!
BMW X7 vs Mercedes-AMG GLC vs Model X Drag Race: Hoping Your Kids Won’t Puke
Does launch control make sense in a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz? Hell, yeah. Does it still make sense when that BMW is the X7 or the Mercedes is a GLC, albeit AMG-badged? Well, we don’t think so. But the year is 2020 and SUVs are desperately trying to do everything right, so launch control setups on family haulers are not that upsetting anymore. Or are they?
The drag race you’re about to see is not necessarily the most balanced and fair we’ve ever witnessed. But that’s not the point, as the video is (another) good indicator of just how freakishly quick (and fast) SUVs have become and how this shift in character is hurting sports cars and sedans.
Tesla Model 3 Versus Porsche 911 Carrera S Makes For a Very Tight Affair
While the Tesla Model S has its hands full dealing with the all-electric Porsche Taycan (not when it comes to range, though), the Model 3 has been pitted against the 2020 Porsche 911 by the fellas over at Carwow.
We know, we know, and they do too, these two are not exactly direct rivals and the differences between them aren’t only related to how they generate power and torque. The 911 is rear-wheel-driven, while the Model 3 spins all four wheels. The EV is also a tad more powerful and quicker off the line, but the Neunelfer packs a mean Launch Control feature and is, after all, a purely-bred sports car.
Elon Musk Should Buy The Tesla Cybertruck’s Door Glass From Volkswagen - It’s Stronger: Video
Do you remember the glass shattering saga from the Cybertruck launch? Of course, you do. How can one forget that embarrassing moment on stage when the whole world was watching the much-anticipated event live, right? It sent everyone into splits but garnered so much hype that even non-auto enthusiasts were talking about it. Tesla: 1, The Public: 0.
Not the point here, though. The Cybertruck might boast armored glass windows, but what about normal windows on normal cars? A video on YouTube has appeared wherein the admin of CarHax decided to use ‘weapons of destruction’ on a standard Volkswagen Golf’s glass. You will be shocked to see how much abuse it can withstand.
Video: Tesla’s Smart Summon Feature Is Good For Stationary Objects, But Not So Much For Moving Obstacles
Tesla’s Smart Summon feature has become the Guinea Pig for a lot of YouTubers out there, as people can’t stop testing this technology under different circumstances and situations. Search it up online and you’ll see a lot more negative reviews than positive ones.
Although it’s a good technology, Tesla needs to fine-tune it to make it foolproof. In the meanwhile, a Model 3 owner, Kevin Rooke, decided to check this feature out by testing it on moving obstacles. He uses many props like a shopping cart, a soccer ball, and many things that can “roll” in front of the car. Do you think the Smart Summon can detect them all?
Engineering Explained Exposes Why the Tesla Cybertruck vs. Ford F-150 Tug of War Was a Scam
When Tesla announced the 300,000-pound towing capacity for the Cybertruck, Ford was quick to release a video of its F-150 electric prototype that pulled 1.25 million pounds. Instead of immediately replying to this, Tesla took its own sweet time to throw a punch at Ford. In turn, Tesla tied the Cybertruck’s ass to a Ford-150’s with a rope and engaged in a good old fashioned tug-o-war challenge.
You must’ve seen the video; the Cybertruck pulls the F-150 with utmost ease, even on an inclined surface. However, this was as gimmicky as it could get. Famous YouTube channel Engineering Explained has put out a video explaining why this battle made no sense and it is much simpler than the “two-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive argument.”
TopGear Drag Races the Tesla Model S Against the Porsche Taycan But the Results Are Controversial
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the sort of battle that has the potential to change the EV segment forever. So far, Tesla’s viciously quick Model S has been kicking supercars and muscle cars to the curb in drag races around the world to the delight of Elon Musk’s fanbase. However, it looks like the electric sedan has met its match and then some in the squeaky-new Porsche Taycan. TopGear took the two EVs out for a spin that culminated with both a drag race and a top speed run on the Autobahn. Let’s see how that went, shall we?
Who’s Responsible If a Tesla On Smart Summon Hits You or Your Car?
I saw an article posted by another outlet just the other day that was titled “idiots are trying to run themselves over with Their Own Tesla’s.” Like most people, I didn’t really read the article – I eventually did, and it isn’t much of an article – however, with all the dumb challenges going on these days (dumb kids eating tide pods, I’m looking at you) I found it very easily to believe people are out there jumping in front of their Tesla on Smart Summon, just to see if it will stop. As it turns out, there aren’t as many cases as I would have expected, and I’m sure they’re coming at some point, but there is one “homemade” test that we’ve posted below. Not surprisingly, the Smart Summon feature is far from perfect. This raises another question in my mind, though: Who the hell is responsible in accidents involving Tesla Smart Summon?
Here’s That Video of the Tesla Model S Tearing Up Laguna Seca - Is Another Record Attempt Coming?
Tesla’s back making claims again, only this time, the California-based electric car maker is planting its flag at Laguna Seca after claiming the four-door lap record around the race track with a time of 1:36.6. While the lap time is impressive, it doesn’t hold much weight in the eyes of the public, largely because it wasn’t set during a sanctioned event and in the presence of an officiating body that would validate the lap time.
That said, Tesla’s decision to go to Laguna Seca to set a lap time, not to mention sightings of a different Model S at the Nurburgring, has people asking if these sightings are precursors to real sanctioned time laps in the future. Knowing Elon Musk, don’t discount that from actually happening.
Jay Leno Has a Love Affliction for Tesla and Electric Cars
Jay Leno knows a lot of things about cars and his opinions about cars carry a lot of weight. That’s a result of being one of the premier auto collectors in the world. In recent years, Leno has become an advocate of electric cars, perhaps even a champion of the growing segment. Leno has praised Tesla, in particular, numerous times in the past, including in a recent interview with CNBC, where the host of Jay Leno’s Garage openly talked about his affection for Tesla. Who would’ve thought, folks? Jay Leno, the lover of internal combustion engines, has seen the light of electrification.
Someone Caught the Rare and Elusive Tesla Pickup on Video!
The Tesla pickup truck is all the sedation these days, but no one has seen it or caught its test mules or anything. However, this channel on YouTube called ’TorqueNews" apparently caught the pickup truck comfortably cruising on the highway completely undisguised. Is this the real deal? Well, it’s not. Tesla is not known to test its vehicles out in the open whether disguised or undisguised. It probably tests them somewhere in the outer space along with the SpaceX Roadster; or in the Hyperloop tunnels! You wouldn’t see a ’Musk’ito out in the open from Tesla’s factory, let ’Elon’ a pickup truck (I know how horrible these puns sound).
The first ever Tesla pickup truck is here and it’s not what you expected
We know for a fact that Tesla will unveil its first ever pickup truck sometime this year, but some people aren’t prepared to wait so they’ve made their own. This is the story of Simone Giertz who did just that, using a Tesla Model 3 sedan as a base. That’s right. She bought a Tesla Model 3 and started cutting, adjusting, and welding. The result is way better than we would have expected. Here’s how this story goes.
