Toyota->ke88 is getting ready for November’s Baja 1000 race in a special way. The team is not only racing a Tundra TRD Pro in the Full Size Stock class, but is sending three support trucks->ke1311 along with it. This Tundra, along with a similarly modified and equipped Tacoma->ke1042 and 4Runner,->ke1844 will be chasing the race truck to provide support, fuel, parts, crew members, and race drivers that will be continually swapped.

Toyota employed the help of N-Fab, a custom builder of off-road trucks to help with equipping the three chase trucks. This Tundra Double Cab started life as a stock, four-wheel-drive Tundra->ke485 but was transformed thanks to numerous goodies.

Up front, the Tundra’s regular grille was swapped for a TRD Pro grille with "TOYOTA" spelled out. Below that is a LED light bar mounted on a custom N-Fab mount with a Smittybilt XRC 12,000-pound winch hidden behind.

Around back is where the real action happens. A bed-mounted cargo rack holds extra gear and two spare tires for the competition truck while blue and amber LED light bars destroy the darkness behind the truck. Extra fuel is carried in specialized containers and a separate spare tire for this truck is carried above a large, lockable storage box takes up the remainder of the bed.

N-Fab didn’t leave the Tundra’s interior alone either. A custom carbon-fiber interior kit and TRD-stitched headrest covers were added to dress things up. A seven-inch Lowrance GPS system is mounted above the center console for navigating the treacherous 1,000-mile journey.

Toyota Tundra TRD in detail

The Tundra’s interior was mostly left alone, save for the special TRD stitching on the headrests and the carbon-fiber accents. A seven-inch Lowrance GPS system helps the team navigate the road-less desert during the 1,000-mile race.

Equipped ready to roll, this Tundra Double Cab is outfitted with extra gear, fuel, and supplies for the Toyota Baja race truck. A custom graphics job helps match the truck with the others at the event while making the team look uniquely their own.

The Toyota Tundra enjoys a refreshed look for 2014 with a new grille and cargo bed design. An updated interior not only looks better, but is more ergonomic for all occupants. Toyota introduced an all-new trim level for 2014 as well, the 1794 Edition. The new western wear flair of the 1794 Edition helps Toyota market the Tundra to those rough and tumble cowboys in America.

Powering the Tundra is a 5.7-liter, iForce V-8 making 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. A 270-horsepower V-6 and 310-horsepower V-8 are also offered, displacing 4.0-liters and 4.6-liters respectively.

Pricing for the Tundra starts at $25,920 for the base truck and rises to $47,320 for the top-trim 1794 Edition. Of course, adding options increase that price even further.
