The Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition Has Some Serious Bespoke Performance Add-Ons
Toyota made waves in September 2020 when the GR Yaris went into production. It was the first true homologation hot hatch we had seen in decades, but Americans thought there was just one problem with it-we weren’t getting it. So, to appease us and make even more money, Toyota crammed the four-wheel-drive, the gearbox, engine, brakes, and everything else they could take from a GR Yaris into a Corolla Hatchback.
As a result, the GR Corolla now exists, and while it only matters to those in the U.S., it is doubtlessly a good car nonetheless. Now though, Toyota is making the GR Corolla even more extreme with the MORIZO edition. Only 200 examples will be produced, and all of them have real performance-enhancing modifications installed and are for the 2023 model year.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla - Performance, Price and Photos
The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla made headlines when it finally broke cover a couple of months ago. This is because, for years, the enthusiast crowd has yearned for its little brother the GR Yaris, but that car was never sold here.
However, Toyota has come full circle and has launched the GR Corolla for 2023. Designed specifically for the U.S. market, it packs more power to compensate for the extra weight, all-wheel drive, and crucially, this one is stick-shift only for that proper analog driving experience inspired by Toyota’s roots in rallying.
This Has to be the Most Purposefully Modified Toyota GR Yaris on the Planet
The Toyota GR Yaris was one of the most unexpected cars to come from Toyota. By all accounts, it can be viewed as the spiritual successor to the Toyota Celica GT Four, despite the GR Yaris not being entered in rallying yet. The DIYers from Mighty Car Mods have taken it upon themselves to utilize all available aftermarket modifications for the GR Yaris in order to create the ultimate version of the compact hot hatchback. Can they build the most powerful GR Yaris yet?
2023 Toyota Venza Nightshade Edition
The second-generation Toyota Venza was announced in May 2020 and went on sale for the North American market for the 2021 model year. Of course, no major changes were announced since then, but for the 2023 model year, the Venza will offer a special Nightshade Edition.
This is not the first Toyota model to get a Nightshade edition, as in the past few years the package was offered on pretty much every car, ranging from small cars like the Avalon to bigger ones like the 4Runner.
GR Corolla vs GR Yaris Power-To-Weight Ratio Compared
Toyota just took the wraps off their all-new 2023 GR Corolla and things look pretty good on paper. Compared to the competition, it’s got some really potent hardware that promises a good time both on the road and on a track, for hopefully not much money. Having said that, how does it compare to its own little brother purely on the basis of power-to-weight ratio? Well, I did some number crunching, and here’s what I found.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla Finally Answers The Call For A Hot Hatch That Fans Have Yearned For Years
Toyota has finally taken the wraps off their highly anticipated GR Corolla, and boy are the specs on this thing impressive. The Japanese auto giant has finally answered the call for a hot hatch, that Toyota fans have been asking for years now.
The GR Corolla has been launched in two trims
GR Corolla Core GR Corolla Circuit Limited Edition (coming in 2023)This Toyota-Audi Mashup of an MR2 is All Kinds of Weird
The second-gen (W20) generation of the Toyota MR2 has found its place in the history books thanks to just how customizable it really is. It was never a slouch on its own, with models like the Japanese-market GT-S being good for 218 horsepower and the US-market MR2 Turbo delivering a cool 200 horsepower (and a glorious five-speed manual transmission, by the way). With some minor upgrades, the stock engine can handle delivering around 300 ponies without fail, but if you go all in, a second-gen MR2 can be good for impressive amounts of power. The car you see here, however, if you haven’t noticed, goes far beyond any of the modified MR2s we’ve ever seen.
A Dyno Test Reveals How Much Power The 2022 Toyota GR86 Actually Makes
The Toyota GR86 is one of the most anticipated cars for 2022, and now that it is on sale, many wonder if the new engine is powerful enough. Its predecessor, the GT86 and later 86 was powered by the FA20 engine, which although is a good starting platform, left a lot to be desired in terms of stock performance. The new GR86 has a bigger, FA24 engine, which is rated at 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet (250 Nm), but how true are these numbers? YouTube channel FTspeed helps us find out through a series of dyno tests.
2022 Toyota Prius Prime
Being one of the most popular and the oldest-selling plug-in hybrids is something the 2022 Prius Prime boasts about. But since its introduction back in 2017, it has been heavily criticized for what it offered back then. But now, it is a well-equipped compact PHEV with exceptional mileage figures and decent interior amenities too.
Toyota GR Corolla Reportedly Coming With An Automatic Option
Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division has been pumping out exciting cars and concepts as of late. Okay, so we’re probably not counting the recently-announced Toyota Corolla Sedan GR Sport, but the GRMN Yaris and GR GT3 Concept are undeniably as hot as any new and exciting car could get. This latest report, however, might leave a number of car enthusiasts unwelcoming of the upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch.
2022 Corolla GR Sport Isn’t The Upcoming Performance Toyota You Were Hoping For (Yet)
Toyota has continually been teasing its upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch over the past few months, but over at the Asia Pacific region, the Corolla sedan has been given the Gazoo Racing treatment. It is, however, not the performance Corolla you were probably expecting.
While most of the attention for the past few days has been focused on Toyota’s Gazoo Racing exhibition at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, another equally-important model has just been unveiled by the Japanese automaker in Japan in the form of the Toyota Noah and Voxy minivans.

Retro JDM Comparison: Toyota Supra Vs Nissan 300ZX Vs Mazda RX-7
Japanese sports cars from the 1990s are some of the most recognized ones amongst the car culture. As described by Jeremy Clarkson, in a movie about the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Japan took over the world…and then lost it. While the latter is a topic for another time, what is true for the Skyline also goes for these three – the Toyota Supra, Nissan 300Z, and Mazda RX-7. Our colleagues from “EverydayDriver” - Todd Deeken and Paul Schmucker - take us on a spirited drive with these three JDM legends to determine the pros and cons of each and why they are so desired.
Watch Five Pickup Trucks Try To Invoke The Usain Bolt Spirit In Them In This Drag Race
The folks at ‘The Fast Lane Truck’ conducted a drag race with not two, but five different pickup trucks. They had trucks across segments, starting from the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz, to the Nissan Frontier, the Toyota Tundra, and the Ford F-150 Raptor. This wasn’t a conventional race wherein you just had all five trucks go at it together. It was more of a gauntlet match wherein the winner of a race faced a new truck in the next round and the loser got eliminated. Sounds a little like Squid Game, doesn’t it?
