It was only last year that the Civic Police of Santa Catarina in Brazil dismantled a bogus workshop that built replica Ferraris and Lamborghinis that wore the two brand’s official badges. Thailand’s PS Modify, however, does’t work that way, as it sticks its own badge to the supercar-inspired body kits it churns out.

My wife will be the first to tell you that I suck at math, but after reviewing Cars Direct’s findings of lease cost for the 2020 Toyota Supra and 2020 BMW Z4, even I can tell you things don’t add up properly – and that’s saying a lot. In short, the more expensive BMW Z4 is cheaper to lease than the Toyota Supra, even when you go for the Z4 M40i and compare it to the entry-level Toyota Supra. Yikes!
2019 Toyota e-Racer Concept
The 2019 Toyota e-Racer is a futuristic, open-cockpit sports car concept inspired by the world of racing. Unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the 2019 e-Racer stands out through three features. It has a sleek and aerodynamic design, the passenger seat is placed behind the driver’s, and it features augmented reality and a special pair of digital glasses. It was developed in cooperation with Gazoo Racing and it’s not scheduled to go into production.

It’s not just any Toyota Century that can’t be had in the United States – it’s a one-off Century convertible, and it’s the only one in the world.

Who knew that all the hype and pandemonium surrounding these two sports cars would all lead up to seeing them together in the tail end of their respective testing sessions?
The Toyota Supra and BMW Z4 Will Supposedly Be Completely Different Animals
The upcoming Toyota Supra and BMW Z4 may share historical roots on how they were born, but both models are going to bring two completely different elements to the table. From a physical standpoint, the difference between the new Supra and new Z4 are obvious. One is going to be offered as a coupe while the other will arrive as a roadster. Beyond that, Toyota claims that the Supra will be the sportier of the two, right down to its driving experience.
The New BMW Z4 (and Probably the Toyota Supra) Will Debut This Summer!
The new BMW Z4 is going to make its debut sometime in the summer of this year, quelling the uproar over the roadster’s surprising absence at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The word for months had the Z4 penned to make its debut in Geneva, but the show arrived with no signs of the roadster. Now we know why. The German automaker didn’t say when the car will have it’s world debut, opting only to say that it’s going to have a “dedicated event” before it heads to the Paris Motor Show in October.

In keeping with its reputation as the biggest auto show in the world, the 2018 Geneva Motor Show will play host to a good amount of concepts and world debuts. There are two cars, though, that have the potential to steal the show. It’s taken a long time, but we’re finally going to see the new BMW Z4 and the returning Toyota Supra in the metal. All the sleepless nights spent waiting for these two sports cars to arrive will now end. It’s happening, folks. It really is. Barring unexpected developments, the Z4 and the Supra are both headed to Geneva.
2017 Toyota GR HV Sports Concept
Toyota is the largest automaker in the world, even outpacing Volkswagen this year with over 7 million units sold across a plethora of markets. But, despite the huge volume of automobiles Toyota pumps out annually, picking a true-blue sports car from its lineup is a little limited. Very limited, actually, with just a single performance model on offer in the form of the Toyota GT86. Don’t get us wrong – we’re big fans of the little two-door coupe, and we’re quite happy that it exists. That said, we think Toyota has the means to offer us at least a few more options, don’t you? Now, it looks like we might get just that, as Toyota appears to be gearing up for the release of the next-generation Supra. While details on that are rooted in rumor, Toyota could be offering a glimpse at things to come with this new concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. Dubbed the GR HV Sports Concept, it’s a compact two-door with eccentric styling, a hybrid powertrain, and an odd H-pattern automatic gearbox.
Intrigued? So are we. Toyota frames it as “a new way to enjoy cars by integrating the thrill of a sports car with the environmental friendliness of an eco-car.” We see it as a chance for Toyota to instill the brand with a little more adrenaline. Read on for the details.

BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra: Evil Twins with Different Personalities
Just because Toyota and BMW jointly developed the Supra and Z4 sports cars, that doesn’t mean that both cars will be mirror images of one another. On the contrary, BMW Group Australia CEO Marc Werner told Car Advice that both the design and driving characteristics of the Z4 will be completely different from the Supra.
Werner’s comments shouldn’t come as a surprise because the Z4 and the Supra theoretically don’t belong in the same segment, despite sharing a platform. The BMW sports car is expected to cater to customers who prefer premium sports cars whereas the Supra will be catered more to the masses. That’s not to say that one is going to be inferior to the other because, despite the prestige of carrying a Bimmer badge, the Z4 will actually feature less power than the Supra, at least if rumors of the Toyota’s output are proven true. It’s been reported that the Z4 will feature a choice of either four-cylinder or six-cylinder engines with power outputs ranging from 194 horsepower to all the way to north of 300 horsepower for the range-topping Z4 M40i. ON the other hand, rumors have swirled that the Supra will have in excess of 400 horsepower at its disposal so evidently, BMW and Toyota are going vastly different paths on how it’s preparing their respective sports cars. The designs and power levels of both cars will be different, so it follows that the resulting driving experience will be different too. Either way, it’s inevitable that we’ll see both the Z4 and Supra get compared to each other on account of their shared history. Not that it’s going to make a difference because, in the end, both cars should have no issues inspiring loyalty from their fans, independent on how the other one is received.

2016 Toyota Setsuna Concept
In a world where steel, aluminum, plastic, and carbon fiber are the dominate materials that make up the cars we drive, Toyota has done something different. Meet the Toyota Setsuna Concept – a car that is made almost entirely out of wood. Well, that might be a little exaggerated, the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain are still made out of some kind of metal, and the tires are still made of rubber, but the body, and most of the interior is made from a choice selection of wood. Interesting, huh?
Toyota claims the decision to use wood to make this concept is because it reflects the developing relationship between people and their cars, saying it “symbolizes how cars undergo gradual transformation.” For the concept, several different types of wood were used, and while something like this could never go into production, Toyota claims it could last over several family generations if it is properly taken care of.
Kenji Tsuki, the lead engineer of the Setsuna Concept, said, “We evaluated various ways to express the concept and selected different lumber materials for specific applications, such as Japanese cedar for the exterior panels and Japanese birch for the frame. We also paid particular attention to the sizes and arrangements of individual parts. For the assembly structure, we adopted a traditional Japanese joinery technique called okuriari3, which does not use any nails or screws.”
So, even though this isn’t necessarily a “serious” concept, it means something to Toyota. A 100-year meter has even been included with the car that keeps track of time as the years pass and the car ages – changing as the wood its built out of does. So with that said, let’s take a look at this rather interesting concept.
