Toyota

Toyota Motor Corporation as we know it today is headquartered in Aichi, Japan. The world’s sixth-largest company in the world by revenue as of September 2018, Toyota is also the largest carmaker in the world. The company was founded back in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda as a car-flavoured business derived from his father’s company, called Toyota Industries. Today, Toyota has factories in most parts of the world from Japan to Australia to Bangladesh and Mexico, just to name a few. Some of Toyota’s most lucrative markets are the United States, followed by Japan, Europe, and Asia. With a hefty motorsport legacy behind, Toyota is also a spearheading company when it comes to alternative ways of propulsion, after launching the Prius in 2012 and continuing to refine the recipe to this day. Besides plug-in hybrids, Toyota, pretty much like most carmakers these days, is looking at ways to deploy the power of electricity in its lineup of vehicles. In this regard, the company experimented heavily with the RAV4 EV and the iQ EV, while also spreading its tentacles towards the hydrogen fuel-cell technology with a road-going sedan called Mirai (mirai means future in Japanese). The carmaker even released 5,600 patents for free use until 2020 in an attempt to bump up the development of hydrogen fuel-cell tech on a global scale.

The new TRD Sport is the seventh model in the 4Runner lineup

The Toyota 4Runner is currently in its fifth generation - and we have to admit that, after more than 11 years on the market, it is long overdue for an update. But, a sixth generation 4Runner is still years away, so Toyota is still playing with what it has. For the 2022 model year, the 4Runner has received a series of exterior updates - nothing major though, and most importantly the addition of a new TRD Sport model.

We talk about how the upcoming electric pickup trucks are fast and heavy on performance. Trucks like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, the GMC Hummer EV, etc. are all quicker than some of the famous supercars of this era. Although internal combustion-engined trucks aren’t known to be ‘fast’, there are a handful of them that could are quite agile. 2022 Toyota GR 86

2022 Toyota GR 86

If you thought the first-gen Toyota 86 was awesome, just wait until you learn about the second-gen model!

Entering its second generation, the GR 86 has uplifting expectations as a coupe, and carries forward quite a few elements which make it stick to “the roots”. And that, we all know that the GR 86 shares a lot of DNA with the Subaru BRZ, including the same chassis and the engine, but some would argue that the former is lighter and manageable in most conditions. For the 2022 model year, the 86 features a flat-four engine layout but the size has gone up to 2.4-liter and it is still naturally aspirated. The new 86 is offered with your choice of a manual or automatic transmission. Apart from the mechanics, the coupe comes loaded with tech and the cabin gets significant updates to give that new-car feeling. The Gazoo Racing team has put up a big effort to make the GR 86 stand out in the crowd and and it’s fairly affordable for what it offers.

This AMG-Powered Toyota Hilux Proves Toyota Pick-Up Trucks Can Be Exciting

This AMG-powered Toyota Hilux is the unholy Creation of a mad man from South Africa

When you think Toyota, you don’t really think big power, unless we are talking about a Supra. The same goes for their SUVs and pick-up trucks, which although dependable, will not “tickle the pickle” when it comes to performance. With that said, Quentin Boylan from Praetoria, South Africa, decided to make his Toyota Hilux a lot more exciting.

2004 Alessandro Volta: The Supercar From Toyota, Ahead Of Its Time

Toyota made a hybrid supercar long before it was cool; would it have worked now?

Nowadays, hybrid supercars are as common as a VW Jetta. Well, not quite, but you get the idea. Pretty much anyone into cars can name at least a few hybrid supercars off the top of his head – Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Lamborghini Sian, McLaren Speedtail, Aston Martin Valkyrie, Koenigsegg Regera, and others. What you may not know is that back when hybrid supercars were even considered, Toyota beat everyone to it. They did so with the Toyota Alessandro Volta, and this is everything we know about it.

This Rendering Shows What a Modern-Day Toyota GR Starlet Could Look Like

This retro-inspired Toyota GR Starlet makes us want a rear-wheel-drive hot hatch

There are certain cars we would love to have modern-day versions of. The list is progressively growing, as manufacturers shift their focus from fun cars to crossovers, SUVs, and EVs. That said, some of our favorite cars are getting a spiritual successor in the form of virtual renderings and this time, it’s Top Gear Philippines that brings back an iconic and somewhat obscure (to some) Japanese hot hatch – the Toyota Starlet Glanza V.

The Toyota Supra in Forza Horizon 5 Is Going to Be Epic

The Toyota Supra in Forza Horizon 5 Is Going to Be Epic

The new Toyota Supra might not be as tunable as its predecessor in real life, but we’re willing to bet you can work it over nicely in Forza Horizon 5

The new Toyota Supra is nothing if not controversial. Meant to be a spiritual successor to the legendary Mk.3 Supra, it’s extreme ties to the BMW Z4 didn’t rub a lot of enthusiasts right. To this day, we’re still not sure if the new Supra is even as tunable as the Mk.3, at least not without some crazy 2JZ transplant, anyway. Regardless of what’s possible in real life, the new Toyota Supra is included as a day-one car in Forza Horizon 5 and, so far, it looks like it’ll at least live up to the reputation it’s meant to have in the game.

Your Dreams Of Owning A Toyota GR Super Sport Just Went Up in Flames…Literally

One explosive crash may have sealed the casket on the Road-Legal Toyota GR Super Sport Hypercar

In mid-2018 we learned that Toyota was planning a road-going hypercar to complement its WEC racer and, a few months later, we laid eyes on the concept for the first time. Toyota has apparently been hard at work, and even revealed a camouflaged prototype earlier in 2021, but all of that may have been for nothing if the newest report coming out of Japan is correct. In short, the road-going GR Super Sport has been canceled after a horrendous crash and burn during testing.

Gazoo Racing Has A Big Surprise for Toyota GR86 Fans

Gazoo Racing Has A Big Surprise for Toyota GR86 Fans

This very aggressive Toyota GR86 concept could become reality and we’re on board

It’s painfully obvious that Toyota isn’t interested in developing any high-performance vehicles, at least not by itself. This explains the more recent collaborations that spawned the GR Supra and 86 models. The latter, in particular, has been on the radar of tuning specialists since the beginning, as its playful chassis and less-than-sufficient power output (for some) are a good starting point for some epic builds. This time, however, Toyota isn’t about to let the tuners steal its lunch money and are giving us their vision of a serious performance proposition based on the Toyota GR86.
