2022 Toyota 4Runner

2022 Toyota 4Runner

This over-a-decade-old SUV can do serious off-roading, and also be a good family hauler while at it

Among a few of the existing old-school body-on-frame SUVs, the 4Runner is still running wild, and is a capable off-roader. With the new Sequoia, we are expecting the 4Runner to receive the anticipated overhaul because it no longer has the updated tech and cabin features to withstand its competitors. The engine under the hood is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V-6, that does not have a lot of power in comparison to the more modern engines, despite sipping a lot of gas. Still, there is a healthy fanbase who still prefer truck-based SUVs like the 4Runner, but its choppy ride quality and unenthusiastic handling on the road make it less approachable to the broader mass. The 4.0-liter V-6 puts out 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. Apart from the TRD models, all models come with rear-wheel drive as standard, but AWD can be optioned. The 4Runner’s rugged chassis, higher ground clearance, and enhanced off-roading dynamics make it a proper five-seater off-roader. But, can it withstand the more modern approach put forward by the Jeep Wrangler, or the Ford Bronco? Read the full review to know if the Toyota 4Runner is worth your attention, or not.

Now an SUV comes with the added advantage of being practical, however, what does this mean for the rational folks out there who’ve had to sacrifice their mid-engined sports car or coupe for a lumbering SUV. Well, manufacturers have addressed this with the performance SUV. But which one is the fastest one out there, well that is a race that is constantly evolving as manufacturers will go to any length to lay claim to that crown.

This Land Cruiser 300 is brought to you by ’Jaos’, the same Japanese off-road folks who recently modified its twin, the Lexus LX 600.

A Factory-Supercharged Toyota FJ Cruiser Is Being Sold For $80,000

A Factory-Supercharged Toyota FJ Cruiser Is Being Sold For $80,000

Is it worth it?

The Toyota FJ Cruiser was discontinued in 2014 for the U.S. market due to dwindling sales. While some may see it as a sales failure, we personally think that it’s more of the result of bad timing. The FJ Cruiser was released shortly before the 2008 recession hit and the demand for SUVs wasn’t as high as today. Now though, due to the rise in popularity in off-roaders such as the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, a lot of enthusiasts miss the FJ Cruiser, which has led to low-mileage examples such as this to fetch high prices.

RAM 1500 TRX Takes On An A90 Supra In A 1/4 Mile Face-off

The Supra on paper has half the power of the TRX, but also weighs half as much. This RWD vs AWD shootout is closer than you think

The Drag Racing and Car Stuff Channel put out yet another super video over the weekend, where a RAM 1500 TRX took on an A90 Supra over the ¼ Mile. Now, as usual, I can’t really confirm the exact specs, but as with anything that hits the drag strip, it’s unlikely that the two contenders we have here are stock. Regardless, we’ll look at the baseline figures so that we can at least have a datum to work off of.

Doug DeMuro’s 2021 Car Of The Year, Isn’t Even A Car

Of the 100 plus cars that Doug checked out last year, there could only be one winner. Any guesses?

Doug DeMuro’s car of the year for 2021 isn’t even a car. Okay, technically it is an automobile. Now, with the EV truck war’s set to commence in a big way, one of the most highly anticipated trucks of them all lived up to all the hype. I am of course talking about the Rivian R1T, that won the 2021 Doug Car Of The Year.

Watch Five Pickup Trucks Try To Invoke The Usain Bolt Spirit In Them In This Drag Race

It was the Ford Maverick, Hyundai Santa Cruz, Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tundra, and the Ford F-150 Raptor facing each other

The folks at ‘The Fast Lane Truck’ conducted a drag race with not two, but five different pickup trucks. They had trucks across segments, starting from the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz, to the Nissan Frontier, the Toyota Tundra, and the Ford F-150 Raptor. This wasn’t a conventional race wherein you just had all five trucks go at it together. It was more of a gauntlet match wherein the winner of a race faced a new truck in the next round and the loser got eliminated. Sounds a little like Squid Game, doesn’t it?
