Toyota Off-Roader Cars

The Wheels YouTube Channel regularly put out videos on some really interesting cars going head to head at the drag strip. They were back at the Bandimere Speedway, in Morrison Colorado, and on this occasion, they had a Toyota Supra take on a tuned Jeep Grand Cherokee and a BMW M3.

If you look at sales figures for the Toyota RAV4 in both Europe and the U.S. you will see that it is a very successful model. Back in 2020 the RAV4 was the best sold SUV in the States for the fourth year in a row, while in Europe it is in the top 3 best sold Toyota models.

So, it was to be expected to see that Toyota is doing its best to further improve the model and come with more ways to attract more customers. Its latest attempt is called "RAV4 Adventure" and, according to Toyota, it "reinforces the model’s “go anywhere” spirit with stand-out rugged styling that’s ready for life in the great outdoors."

The Toyota Land Cruiser 40 is, arguably, the brand’s most iconic off-road vehicle. It was produced from 1960 to 1984 (1968-2001 in Brazil). Although production of spare parts was discontinued, that’s about to change. On August 1st, Toyota Gazoo Racing announced that production of spare parts for the classic 4X4 will once again commence, which would allow owners of the vehicle to extend its life cycle.

What’s the best way to get someone’s attention? Scream? I guess that’s what Toyota thinks because it just launched an off-road trim of a pickup truck in a bright lime shade! Neither ‘Off-road’ nor ‘pickup truck’ can be associated with a lime exterior shade. But, Toyota seems to have done that with the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro.

The 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro arrives in this new exclusive shade with some more off-road enhancements like an increased suspension lift, new shocks, etc. Sweet, huh?

When you hear Toyota, some of the first words to come to mind are reliable, boring, hybrid, or if you’re into the 4X4 scene – rugged. The Toyota Land Cruiser is, to this day, one of the most iconic 4X4s out there. What most people don’t know is that there is a bigger “Cruiser”, made by Toyota – the Toyota Mega Cruiser. Chris O’Neil is an enthusiast YouTube channel, named after its creator, in which “he does stuff with interesting vehicles”. In this case, he gives a detailed overview of the obscure boxy SUV.

If you haven’t been watching Hagerty’s YouTube channel recently you missed out on a cool videos featuring Chip Foose. He redesigns a few cool cars from the past and he even envisioned the old Volkswagen Beetle as a hot rod. In this latest episode of "Chip Foose Draws a Car," the American designer makes revisions to the iconic Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser.

The Toyota Tundra is known for its rock-solid reliability. It’s also strong, well-built, a competent hauler, and tough enough to be taken off the roads as well. But, it looks like this owner was not happy with the Bruce Banner version of his Tundra and decided to transform it into Hulk.

The model in question is a 2013 CrewMax equipped with the TRD Off-road package. This Tundra is a completely different monster inside-out and might be your best bet if we face an apocalypse.

With everything that is going on this year, it feels like we’re heading towards an apocalypse. Perhaps, that is why we’re seeing so many converted vehicles lately. Here’s another fine example that was listed on Craigslist. JBA Motors has posted an ad for this 2016 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 Custom that looks Armageddon-ready. The brute has less than 300 miles on the odo, which makes it practically brand new.

Well, here’s a Mercedes X-Class pickup truck with an older 6.2-liter Mercedes-AMG mill plonked under the hood. Oh, wait, I’m sorry. It’s a Toyota Hilux with an AMG engine. I wonder why I thought the X-Class pickup truck with an AMG engine would’ve been a good idea. Duh! The X-Class was better off as a rich man’s Nissan Navara with the same interior and drivetrain, right? Anyway, here’s one genius who plonked the previous-gen 6.2-liter AMG mill under the hood of his Toyota Hilux. The result? A sleeper truck that will scare the living daylight out of you with one press of the throttle.

With a manufacturing facility sitting deep in the heart of the state, Toyota is always a lock to be in attendance at the Texas State Fair. Past years have shown the automaker debut models like the Toyota 4Runner Nightshade Edition to go with SX versions of the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma.

This year, Toyota is returning the to the fair with a more functionally inclined special edition model called the 4Runner Venture Edition. The exclusive touches are mostly of the cosmetic variety, but there’s enough of them in the 4Runner Venture Edition to go around to pique the interests of prospective owners of the special edition SUV. The Toyota 4Runner Venture Edition is already available for order so if you’ve got an eye for a new roof rack, among other things, you can buy Toyota’s latest special edition SUV for a tidy sum of $45,405.

Toyota has managed to turn the TRD Pro badge into some sort a privilege for the SUVs in the Japanese lineup. It’s like an Ironman Triathlon where the beasts have to go through a series of challenges to earn the TRD Pro badge. The latest entrant to that list the Toyota Sequoia. Toyota teased a new vehicle being added to the TRD Pro lineup a couple of days back and to be honest, the Sequoia would have been the last option on everyone’s minds. But well, the TRD Pro Sequoia is ready and will be officially making its debut at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.

Toyota dropped a teaser video for its next TRD Pro truck that will be unveiled on February 7th at the Chicago Auto Show.You don’t see much in the video, but we’re guessing Toyota is either previewing an updated version of the Tundra TRD Pro or a new model altogether.

We’ve talked about Toyota’s plans to add a TRD version to every Toyota there is in the past, and this means we’re on the cusp of getting more TRD Sport and TRD Pro models. This time around, Toyota is preparing us for a rugged new TRD Pro truck that’s seen disrupting the peace in a 15-second clip posted by the Japanese automaker on social media.
