Volkswagen is offering a new special edition for their best-sold SUV. Based on the "Trend & Fun" trim level, the new Tiguan Freestyle comes with Blue Motion Technology and a starting price of €24 925.

The Freestyle edition adds 16-inch alloy wheels, comfort seats in the front, a light and sight package, fog lamps, park pilot, textile floor mats, and cruise control. The winter package adds heated front seats, heated windshield washer nozzles, and a headlamp cleaning system.

The new Tiguan Freestyle will be offered for every engine in the line-up: a 1.4 liter TSI with Blue Motion Technology and 122 hp and the powerful petrol engine producing 150-170 hp, but it will also come in the common-rail diesel engine producing 110-140 hp. It gets an optional seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox and all-wheel drive 4MOTION system. The RNS 510 is available with newly developed off-road navigation as an option.

The new Freestyle comes with a price tag of up to €1610.

The diesel would be a nice to have SUV in the States, but otherwise it is unremarkable.

So far no diesel for the US. IMO, SUV buyers would be more likely to want a diesel. Car diesels still get a bad rep from the awful diesels decades ago. Of course now, The added problem of the emissions which makes for a costly engine to get around the otherwise costly filter system (that must be replaced quite often).
