ABT Sportsline has had great success with their tuning kits for the Volkswagen Touareg since the SUV debuted in 2002. Hesitant, at first, to take on the job of tuning the SUV, ABT took their chances and turned out some great products. Now the German tuning firm is unveiling a package for the new generation Touareg that they hope will have the success of their previous projects. The new kit features both exterior and interior modifications, as well as an impressive engine update.

For the exterior, ABT is offering a new set of alloy wheels available in different sizes, a sporty front grille and rear wing, a rear apron, and a 4-pipe exhaust unit.

For the engine,ABT Sportsline is providing the SUV’s 3.0 TDI version with an ABT Power system that increases the output to a total of 282 HP. With the Power S system, the output goes up to 310 HP, while the V8 turbo diesel engine gets an output of 385 HP and 870 Nm of torque.

Press release

Those who want their car to have it all choose the Touareg. This car is not just a real off-roader, but also looks confident and superior on the road. All the more so if the SUV has been tuned by ABT Sportsline. The Bavarian company has also refined the latest version of this a special automobile without diluting its character. “More power wouldn’t hurt with a car as diverse as this, but it was important for us that the tuning suited the characteristics of the Touareg", explains Christian Abt. The General Manager, who is responsible for technical development at ABT, knows what buyers of a premium vehicle expect: “Since its launch in 2002 the Touareg has been a huge success for us. We have systematically worked on our interpretation of the SUV since then, whereby it is clear, in our opinion, that there should be special emphasis on sport.”

Because a 2.5 tonne car needs powerful engines, ABT Sportsline offers performance improvements that make the great car from Wolfsburg seem even more superior: more horsepower and more torque – the ABT Touareg is a mountaineer, a workaholic, an elegant glider, a fast touring car and an agile XXL sports car all in one: with the 3.0 TDI, ABT POWER provides 282 HP (207 kW) compared to the series standard 240 HP (177 kW). The ABT POWER S technology even makes 310 HP (228 kW) available, while the torque is increased from 550 Nm to 580 Nm or 610 Nm. For the silky-smooth V8 turbo diesel with its 4.2 litre cubic capacity, 385 HP or 283 kW (series standard: 340 HP / 250 kW) and a torque of 870 Nm (series standard: 800 Nm) are available.

The impression that the ABT Touareg is a formidably dominant automobile, which comes across as elegant and dominant, is further underlined by the designer wheels ABT BR and CR. Both alloys are available in different sizes up to a powerful 22 inch version. It goes without saying that ABT also offers combinations with high-performance tyres, where the performance and the load index agree. Both the BR and CR wheels underline the contours of the ABT Touareg and harmonise with the bodywork elements, which ABT has developed for the premium SUV: the sporty front grill and rear wing blend well into the vehicle’s design and the incorporation of the rear apron and the 4-pipe exhaust unit show exactly where the classy ABT Touareg comes from.

I love the design of the wheels of this Touareg, looks so cool! Anyway, I’m glad that they use an impressive engine for this one, but I hope that they also include some pictures of its interior.

Of course, A German car is not related with a Korean Car. Just like you cannot order Pizzas on Chinese Market.

Volks really rocks! Well, what is more important to you? The car or the features itself? Let us vote and now see how will people from Volkswagen justify their comments.

I bet ABT is responsible for the clean and aggressive wheels! Well, i do believe that since it’s a SUV type it doesn’t matter at all if it doesn’t have much power!

I’m surprised by the negative comments. I think it looks really good — much more distinctive than the current model. I’ll take one with the V6 TDI please.

We had a 2004 Touareg V8 and it was a nice SUV. Drove well, sounded nice, didn’t have too many issues . It was expensive to maintain and it was super heavy. We got about 13mpg, which if you had a Suburban XL you’d get better. So it’s a very nice solid truck.

I know many many two-SUV families. In most every family it seems the wife has an SUV at least and most women wouldn’t be caught dead in a wagon, so that makes it an enormous market.

So in the end how does this differ from a Passat Wagon? I mean is there really a market for this. Because with that low chin spoiler there is no way in hell that going off road.

The mammoth 4.2-liter TDI engine generates to the whooping 385PS and 870Nm of torque compared to the standard one that is less than 45PS and 70Nm.

The package boosts the diesel engines of the Touareg, also gifting the car with a body kit that uses a discreet approach.

It’s time for the second generation of the Volkswagen Touareg to become a big boy in the tuning world, so the aftermarket developers are starting to offer modification packages for the SUV.

i think you are talking about the headlamps or should i say front end. yes it looks the same but if you are going to compete it with touareg, it would be veracruz.
