The long-living Volkswagen Golf entered its seventh generation for the 2015 model year and has wide appeal with a trim range that offers fuel efficiency or performance. The new-gen model is built on the MQB platform, which is shared by models like the Audi A3, Seat Leon, and even the Skoda Octavia. It is larger than the outgoing model but shed a little bit of weight as well. The exterior shares a look that is similar to the outgoing model but features improved aerodynamics and a somewhat sportier look now that it sits lower to the ground. Inside, you’ll find a higher grade of materials with accents in brushed metal here and there, a simplified center console, and a little bit of extra room for passengers. Under the hood, you can find a 1.8-liter that delivers 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque or a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 150 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.
