Every now and then, Volkswagen releases a random concept that showcases aftermarket mods and the potential of said model in the hands of someone willing to make some mods. Cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTE HyRacer showed us what was possible with the Golf while the Jetta GLI concept most likely gave birth to a few stunning blue Jettas on the road. There was also the Tiguan SE R-Line Black Rino Concept that somehow blended functionality with a low-rider stance. Now, Volkswagen is growing its enthusiast fleet again with the Arteon Big Sur concept.

Volkswagen Arteon Big Sur – What Happens When Automakers Go Aftermarket

Apparently, the Volkswagen Arteon is a “hidden gem in the Volkswagen lineup,” so that explains why VW, along with representatives from FMS Automotive and Rotiform gave this specific car a few enhancements. According to VW, “the goal was to incorporate an eye-cathcing forest green wrap throughout the vehicle to showcase the Arteon’s strong and stylish body lines.”

To start off, engineers stripped the car of its doors and applied this forest green body wrap. I must give credit where credit is due, though, and I have to admit you can’t really tell that this is a body wrap, so kudos to whoever installed it. Once the body wrap was done, the team threw on a set of 20-inch Rotiform TUF-R cast monoblock wheels that are wrapped in continental tires. Volkswagen lowered this Arteon by 1.5 inches via an aftermarket coilover kit, however, it was quick to note that it could have been lowered as much as 2.5 inches.

Like most Volkswagen enthusiast concepts, modifications stopped at the body. The idea behind this is that Volkswagen wanted to inspire people to make their own modifications. Ultimately, the idea was to keep the mods affordable and “ensure that someone who had the means and interest in achieving this vehicle could.” Beyond this, the Arteon Big Sur will be shown off ad different events along with other enthusiast concepts that it has in its fleet.
