The Volkswagen ID.4 Would Actually Make a Decent-Looking Little Truck
With the Volkswagen ID.4 revealed, we’re naturally wondering what’s coming next. Knowing Volkswagen, and the fact that the ID.4 and ID.3 share the same MEB architecture, a handful of electric models will probably share the same bones. So, why not an ID-based truck? Well, rendering artist KDesign AG was thinking the same thing and threw together the renderings you see here. Overall, it doesn’t look too bad at all, really.
Volkswagen Just Can’t Let The Beetle Rest In Peace
Two years ago, we reported that the VW Beetle was going to die and would never come back. Then, come late-2018 and the Beetle’s demise became a confirmed fact. Part of that coverage indicated that the Beetle would be replaced, in part, by the I.D. Buzz E.V. and the T-Roc subcompact crossover. It was also reported that the Beetle would return as an electric four-door, but given the introduction and push of VW’s new I.D. range of vehicles, that didn’t make a lot of sense. Until now, that is, as VW has filed trademark for a number of names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, including “e-Beetle.” Here we go again, folks.
Ford’s Alliance With Volkswagen Means the Next Ford EV Will Be a Badge-Engineered ID4 Crossover
The Ford-Volkswagen alliance has been brewing for a couple of years now. Things started looking stale in between, but it looks like everything is getting back on track.
According to Ford Authority, the alliance between the two automakers is expected to be finalized by the end of June. Also, the German automaker’s board has approved several projects, one of which is a new Ford electric vehicle that will be underpinned by Volkswagen’s MEB platform. Volkswagen Believes that Stand-Alone EVs Are the Key to Surviving Electrification
While many automakers are still hooked on offering electric versions of their existing combustion cars, Volkswagen thinks that stand-alone EV models are the best option for the future. Volkswagen design chief Klauf Bischoff says that the brand’s upcoming line of ID models is a better solution than to simply roll out electric variants of models like the Golf, Passat, and Tiguan. He argues that electric car can’t reach their full potential "in the traditional space" offered by a vehicle designed for internal combustion engines.
Volkswagen Just Teased the ID 4 Electric Crossover That’s Coming to the United States
Volkswagen held an event in China to show off some of its latest models, including the Vilorian minivan and Tacqua compact crossover, but the highlight of the lineup there was the ID 4 prototype. Undoubtedly, VW plans to enter the Chinese market with the ID 4 compact as well, but since it needs to make a big splash in the states, you’d think that prototype would have been shown here, where the brand has been withholding its new ID lineup.
2020 Volkswagen ID.3
The 2020 Volkswagen ID.3 is an all-electric compact hatchback that the German automaker unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 2020 ID.3 is the first Volkswagen based on the new MEB platform, which will underpin a full range of electric vehicles in the future. Heavily based on the ID Neo concept, the 2020 ID.3 is similar to the Volkswagen Golf in size, so it’s pretty much a replacement for the e-Golf.
A competitor for models like the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt, and Tesla Model 3, the 2020 Volkswagen ID.3 is available with three drivetrains that provide different outputs and mileage ratings. The range-topping model will deliver in excess of 200 horsepower and return more than 300 miles of range on a single charge. The 2020 ID.3 will cost less than €30,000 in Europe. The Volkswagen ID.3 Isn’t Coming to the States, But This ID.4 Is!
Ironically, the Dieselgate mishap is what triggered a downright electric revolution within the Volkswagen Group. Just take a step back and observe just how big of a fuss (the be translated into effort of all sorts - investments, marketing, and logistics) the giant is making about its electrified future. Porsche has its first-ever electric sports car, Audi is coming in hot with e-tron badged EVs, and of course, Volkswagen has just unveiled the ID.3, a third-coming model that the company hopes to enjoy just as much popularity as the Beetle and the Golf.
We’ll see about that in the years to come, but the ID.3 won’t be alone for long. Volkswagen will also pull the ID.4 out of its magic ha,t and U.S. residents will want to hear that: it is coming Stateside.
Is the 2020 ID 3 Volkswagen’s Third Coming After the Golf and Beetle?
Volkswagen has revealed the production version of the ID.3, the first of a new generation of all-electric vehicles. The plan is for the ID.3 to be a big sales magnet for the brand, especially since it’s not going to be a hugely expensive car, but rather one designed to be more attainable than other rival battery powered models.

With an impending approach of the numerous Volkswagen ID electric cars, the spy photographers come into their own finally having a proper reason to film camouflaged Volkswagens. The latest that fell victim to a spy photographer’s lens is a curiously uncovered Volkswagen Tiguan. It was wheeling, silently, in nearly the same way as that Golf Sportsvan I wrote about earlier. As it turns out, this one famously hides the body of the next Volkswagen ID Crozz. It is definitely one of the most important electric vehicles that will appear in the next year or two, and this is essentially all that we know about it.

Volkswagen Received 10,000 Orders for the 2020 Volkswagen ID.3 Within the First 24 Hours of Pre-Ordering
Volkswagen reported that, within the first 24 hours after opening registrations, the ID.3 hatchback collected 10,000 pre-booking across Europe. The massive number of users overloaded VW’s system, which caused interruptions and delays to customers trying to pay the $1,122 deposit due for the registration.
With a 205-mile range, the base model ID.3 starts from "under €30,000". Starting from "less than €40,000" the ID.3 limited edition "1st" includes a 261-mile battery. Two trims of that model are available: "1st Plus" and "1st Max".
Volkswagen To Tackle Tianmen Shan Big Gate Road with I.D. R
Volkswagen’s bespoke electric prototype racer that was the fastest at last year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event will most likely add another record to its cabinet. Romain Dumas will pilot it in September on the so-called "Road to Heaven" that features 99 bends along 6.83 miles of road, longer than the original Spa-Francorchamps road course.
This year, Volkswagen will finally introduce the first model from its much-advertised I.D. family of electric models that are supposed to make us all rethink our lives, ponder on existence as a whole and so on and so forth. To keep the ball rolling and the buzz going, Volkswagen is yet to park the glorious LMP-like I.D. R in a museum and, instead, it will take the 670 horsepower beast all the way to China to compete on a strip of road that’s not opened to the public.
The Volkswagen I.D. EV Will Launch This Year as the Next-Gen Golf Gets Shelved Until 2020
The Volkswagen Golf is a true automotive phenomenon so when there’s a new one on the way; you can bet everyone is eagerly waiting for it. We’ve already seen mules out on the open road, but the now-2021 Volkswagen Golf 8 won’t be here until next year as Volkswagen prepares to unveil the first model from itsI.D. family of EVs that is slated to become a hit.
The German giant from Wolfsburg has been dropping hints on the 2021 Golf for a while now, but we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see the refreshed version of the best-selling car in Europe. Why? Well, Volkswagen needs extra time to fix some last-minute things on the Golf, and this would push the release date well past what was originally planned, namely to have the car at the Frankfurt Auto Show. A launch event on the eve of the holiday season isn’t what Volkswagen wants for the Golf, apparently.

Volkswagen Group is on a roll right now - almost so well that we’ve nearly forgotten about the Dieselgate emissions scandal. Volkswagen has said that it will be increasing its current target of 50 electric models across its brands to 70 models by the end of 2030. With this expansion, Volkswagen electric cars are expected to comprise around 40-percent of total vehicle sales. Sounds insane, right? Well, you can probably expect Volkswagen to achieve it soon if things keep going so well with the brand’s EV push.
