Volvo->ke188 has received its fair share of criticism for building boring cars in the past. Sometimes, it deserves it. Sometimes, it doesn’t. But the Swedish brand does have one model that has consistently drawn admirers since it made its debut in 2008. That would be the XC60,->ke3026 Volvo’s entry-level crossover and the company’s best-selling model since 2009. The XC60’s popularity makes it the perfect vehicle to get a limited edition->ke2041 variant dedicated to a sporting event that has a certain Swedish automaker as its title sponsor. Hence, we have the Volvo Ocean Race X60.

The Volvo Ocean Race XC60 made its debut at the 2014 Miami International Auto Show,->ke1718 which runs from November 7 to 16. In keeping with the spirit of the triennial race, the Volvo Ocean Race XC60 carries special design elements attributed to the event, including a splashy “Ocean Blue II” exterior paint finish and a morsel of identifiable design pieces that are associated to the Volvo Ocean Race.

The limited-edition XC60 is available in the T6 Drive-E FWD and T6 AWD trims options and will be available at prices of $42,100 and $43,600 respectively.

Volvo Ocean Race XC60 in detail

The Ocean Blue II paint finish is arguably the most identifiable element of the Ocean Race XC60. But if you look closer, there are a lot of readily distinguishable details in the exterior and interior of the special-edition luxury crossover.

The front fenders, for example, carry a Volvo Ocean Race emblem whereas the door-sill plate has “Volvo Ocean Race” inscribed on it, and the 18-inch wheels are exclusive.

Step inside the spacious interior and you can choose to set it up with either black or blonde leather. Vivid orange stitching on the door panels and a deco inlay brings a lot of flair and character to the cabin. The orange stitch treatment continues on the floor mats and luggage compartment mat with the latter also receiving a Volvo Ocean Race rubber tag.

The limited edition XC60 is available in either the T6 Drive-E FWD or the T6 AWD trim option. That means you can choose between the former’s 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that produces 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque or the latter’s 3.0-liter, turbocharged, six-cylinder engine that pumps out 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.
