2018 Volvo 360c
Volvo has pulled the sheets off of the 360C, a fully autonomous electric concept car that showcases a new way to go about domestic travel without having to pay the exorbitant amounts attached to airline tickets. The 360c concept is essentially a bedroom on four wheels that Volvo views as a possible alternative to regional flights. It’s not expected to go into production anytime soon, but it does open the door to a new and innovative way of using autonomous driving technology.

Volvo introduced its new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform with the new XC40, and it’s already taking steps to expand, with an all-new, next-gen V40 hatchback being the next model to make use of this adjustable, electrification-ready platform. And, that is the keyword: Electrification – and that’s exactly what you can expect from the next-gen V40. And, it will be offered with at least two battery sizes too, making it more affordable in base form and more able to compete with its German rivals in higher trim levels. Want to know more? 2017 Volvo V40 Cross Country
Volvo has released a handful of teaser images of its refreshed V40 Cross Country ahead of the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The updated V40, slotted for the 2017 model year, gets a new face, several interior improvements, upgraded in-dash technology, and new wheel and color options.
Introduced for the 2013 model year along side the standard V40, the current V40 Cross Country adds a higher level of versatility to Volvo’s five-passenger hatchback thanks to more ground clearance, dark body cladding, and of course,Volvo’s AWD system. Designed as a “softroader,” the V40 Cross Country is best suited for foul weather situations that include ice and snow, rather than rocks and deep mud. Still, the car can tackle dirt or gravel roads with more authority than the standard V40 hatch.
“The V40 is the best-selling Volvo model in Europe and the second-most popular Volvo model globally, making it a very important car for the company,” said Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service at Volvo. “With the updates for model year 2017 we make this already very successful model even more attractive to customers in the segment.”
Sadly Volvo has yet to confirm the suspicions of the V40 platform coming to the U.S. in 2017, though it’s still a possibility. We may learn more when Volvo hosts the V40’s official debut at Geneva. Offering the model in the State would give Volvo a chance to compete against the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and the Audi Q3. The luxury compact crossover segment is certainly growing, so the market viability is definitely there.

2017 Volvo V40
The Volvo V40 came to be in 1995, as a wagon version of the then-new S40, which replaced the 440/460 series. The name was retired in 2004, when the second-generation wagon was renamed V50, but it returned in 2012. The new V40, however, was developed as a hatchback instead of a full-fledged wagon, and was aimed at the likes of the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3. Volvo also launched a Cross Country version with protective body panels, bigger wheels, and an increased ride height for crossover enthusiasts. Four years have passed since the modern, hatchback V40 arrived in dealerships and Volvo has prepared an updated iteration for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The update is far from comprehensive, but it adds new headlamps and front grille, new exterior colors, and new upholstery options for the interior. It also comes with improved apps and technology and a more efficient diesel powertrain.

With the updates for model year 2017 we make this already very successful model even more attractive to customers in the segment,” said Bjorn Annwall, Volvo’s senior vice president.
As you may already know, the V40 is not yet available in the U.S. However, word has it that the hatch might cross the pond to North America around 2018, when the next-gen version arrives. Until that happens, let’s have a closer look at the model set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Since the 2015 Volvo V40 has been off to a pretty good sales start, Volvo seems to be in the mood to expand its lineup in the small-car segment, with the next generation of the V40 to become a larger family of models. Work on the future small Volvos has already started at the new China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT) center that has been built in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The modular platform engineered by CEVT will be used for both Geely models and the V40 replacement, which will be accompanied by the 2020 Volvo XC40 compact crossover, and possibly by other models as well. According to Autocar, who had a look at the jobs currently availabale at CEVT, at least one hybrid powertrain will be found in the new architecture. Apparently, the models using the platform will be FWD or AWD, except the hybrid versions using an electrified rear axle, rendering them AWD-only.
On the Geely-side of the deal, it is not yet clear what kind of cars will use the new architecture, but the report says they will probably be aimed at European and Chinese markets. Either way, any new models based on the Volvo-Geely platform created at CEVT are at least two and a half years away, so the XC40 will probably be the first. Strangely enough, the CEO of CEVT is Mats Fagerhag, who was the lead engineer for the now-dead Phoenix platform, which was supposed to underpin a new Saab lineup before the Swedish company ran into trouble.

Volvo’s rise back to relevancy has caught the auto industry’s attention. At the Geneva Motor Show, the Swedish automaker is prepared to take it to another level with the upcoming release of its third and final concept car.
But before that, Volvo’s also introducing its new Ocean Race lineup for the V40, V40 Cross Country, V60 and XC60. Each model will be given the "Ocean Race" nomenclature and will come with an assortment of colors, including Ocean Blue II, Bright Silver, Black Sapphire and Crystal White.
In addition, each of the Ocean Race models also stand to receive either black or blonde leather upholstery with matching orange stitching, as well as "Volvo Ocean Race" branded sill plates. The same stitching is also be found on the door panels and floor mats, with the latter also carrying a special rubber tag attached. And in case there’s any confusion on the uniqueness of these models, the V60 and XC60’s load cover will be decorated with a Volvo Ocean Race map and logo.
For their part, the V70 and XC70 Ocean Race editions have their own unique offerings, including high-gloss black accents, a special set of 17- or 18-inch Portunus-style alloy wheels, and a lowered suspension that’s exclusive to the V70. Likewise, both models come with black leather seats, cream contrast stitching and sport pedals.
The Volvo Ocean Race Editions will make their debuts at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show before going into production this spring.

Last month, Heico Sportiv unveiled the V40 "Pirelli" edition and now the tuner is back with the unveiling of the most powerful V40 ever. The model is based on the Cross Country variant of the V40 and aims to be an alternative for cars like BMW M135i xDrive and Mercedes A45 AMG.
The new V40 HPC is based on the S80 HPC Concept; instead of the “HPC” standing for "High Performance Concept" like on the concept version, this time the abbreviation stands for "Heico Performance Car."
The new V40 features both exterior and interior updates, but the most impressive job was made under the hood where the tuner offers two different levels of upgrades. After all the updates, the V40 can hit a top speed of 164 mph, making it the world’s fastest V40.

Heico Sportiv and Pirelli started a close cooperation back in 2009 and this year, as a celebration of Pirelli’s centenary, the tuner created a special-edition Volvo V40 Pirelli. The car not only received updates to the exterior and interior, but also an extra 50 horsepower under the hood.
The V40 is a car that gets little attention, but somehow Heico Sportiv managed to completely change its look, making it more appealing and sportier. This doesn’t mean the tuner made tons of updates; instead, it opted to keep the exterior and interior updates to a minimum and updated only the essential parts of the V40.
The package seen here has been built on the V40 with a 1.6-liter engine, but according to the tuner, it can be applied to any model in the lineup.

The new generation Volvo V40 was officially unveiled back in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, so it seems fitting that a more powerful version of the hatchback will be unleashed at another major auto show in the same year. The new V40 R-Design model will make its presence known when it rolls onto the Paris Auto Show at the end of September.
The V40 R-Design will be launched in a very cool Rebel Blue and promises to deliver an intense, agile driving experience thanks to its impressive high-performance T5 petrol turbo with 254 HP. When compared to a standard V40, the new R-Design version will be distinguished by a silk-metal framed high-gloss grille, an ironstone diffuser, silk-metal finished details, and twin exhaust tailpipes.
The V40 R-Design was built on a special chassis developed in cooperation with Volvo’s Polestar Black R team. This chassis can be ordered in a standard "Dynamic" version which adds a rigid body and a low center of gravity or an optional "Sport" version if the customer wants to lower the ride height by 10 mm.

The Volvo C30 debuted for the 2008 model year and gave Volvo buyers something that they have craved for years – a sporty model. In its base format, the C30 pumps out a stout 227 horsepower from its 2.5-liter inline 5-cylinder engine. Though it was relatively powerful, Volvo felt it needed a little bit more by developing a Polestar version of this hot hatchback.
We first caught a glimpse of the C30 Polestar concept way back in 2010 and we expected to see a production model shortly after, but it never happened. This 2010 concept boasted a 450-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, leaving the sky as the limit with the production model.
Finally, after two years of development, Volvo has announced that it will release a limited number of production C30 Polestars to the public. Along with this announcement comes a press release showing off its features and, more importantly, its specifications.
The question hanging over the head of this new arrival in big bold letters is “Can it live up to the hype?” We definitely do not expect 450 ponies from this 3-door Polestar hatchback, but it still has some pretty big shoes to fill.
UPDATE 10/30/12: The Volvo C30 Polestar Edition was spotted at the 2012 SEMA Auto Show! It definitely caught us by surprise, we’ll tell you that. But seeing it there has convinced us that this sports car deserves to be in the company of all those sick machines.

When Volvo dropped the official details on the 2013 S60 Polestar concept, they also announced that a production version would arrive, but only in a limited edition. This decision was made after an American customer bought the concept for an impressive $300,000. Lucky for everyone else, the production version won’t be as expensive as that. Volvo has also promised that a V40 Polestar version will arrive by the end of 2012 and will be priced at only $30K.
The V40 Polestar will respond to the likes of the BMW M135i and the Audi S3. If the first rumors are true, it will have ’at least’ 10 per cent more power than a standard T5. A little calculating will show that the future V40 Polestar will easily be able to produce 280 HP, but don’t be surprised if it passes the 300 HP mark. The model will be offered with an all-wheel-drive system and Polestar should be able to give it an impressive exterior look.
Volvo has never been one to be mentioned in the same sentence as performance cars, as the Swedish automaker always focused more on building family-friendly sub-luxury cars as opposed to sports cars. Since its takeover by Chinese car manufacturer, Geely, Volvo has been slowly broadening its vehicle selection to include several sportier models and the latest to come to the forefront was the S60 Polestar.
Another new and sportier model coming to Volvo’s lineup is the V40, which is a rather sleek-looking 5-door model. Apparently, this was the perfect base for famed Volvo tuner, Heico Sportiv, to build a monster race car and debut it at the Auto Mobil International at Leipzig. This racer is set to compete in long-distance road races in their various alternative fuel classes.
The details are a little scarce at the moment, but Heico has shared a little information. We will share what we know with you now and will continuously update you as more information becomes available.
