Last time we heard from Cadillac, it was busy launching the new Escalade. Before that, talk about the upcoming Cadillac CT5-V hot really heated up due to a report that said it won’t get the Blackwing V-8 and instead receive the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 found inside the CTS-V.
At this point in time, the Blackwing’s fate holds a lot of uncertainty, and the worst part is that Cadillac hasn’t got the slightest clue about how, where, and when to use the 4.2-liter twin-turbo V-8 mill.
The New Ford Focus RS Is At The Mercy Of EU’s Emission Laws
When Ford introduced the 2016 Ford Focus RS, the hot hatch community was taken by storm. It packed more power than the Subaru WRX STI, Honda Civic Type R, and VW Golf R, along with all-wheel-drive, a manual gearbox, and 350 PS (345 horsepower) and 350 pound-feet of torque to go by.
The new Ford Focus has been out for almost two years now and everybody’s wondering when is Ford dropping the RS-badged derivative. Well, it looks like the Blue Oval still has some work to do as it needs to come up with an emission-compliant powertrain for its compact hot hatch, forced by harsher EU regulations.

Lotus is paying homage to Australia’s most famous race by launching the Elise Cup 250 Bathurst Edition. Limited to just six units — yes, six — the Elise Cup 250 Bathurst Edition is as exclusive as it’s going to get. The special edition sports car boasts exclusive features befitting its status, none more prominent than a rare paint finish that hasn’t been used in a Lotus since the Lotus Esprit that starred in the James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me.
In addition to the exclusive paint, the Elise 250 Bathurst Edition also comes with interior upgrades and mechanical improvements. The sports car’s 1.8-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine, on the other hand, remains in stock form. The cost of owning one of the six Lotus Elise 250 Bathurst Edition models sits at AUD109,900.
That converts to around $73,760 based on current exchange rates. Unfortunately for us here in the U.S., all six units of the Elise 250 Bathurst Edition are exclusive to the Australian market.
2021 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Debuts World’s Quickest-Folding Soft Top
Largely based on the Vantage coupé, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster - that’s right, it’s not called the Volante anymore as you and I expected, but simply Roadster - receives the same 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 sourced from AMG but instead of a fixed roof, it packs the quickest fabric top ever made.
As every other Aston Martin out there, the Vantage Roadster doesn’t come cheap. You’ll have to scoop up at least $161,000 if you live in the US of A, €157,000 in Germany, and about £127,000 in the U.K. That’s $11,000, €3,000, and £6,000, respectively, on top of the coupé model’s starting sticker.

There’s nothing quite like a special-edition to spruce up a model family, and Triumph takes that to the bank with its new top-shelf Tiger 1200 Desert Edition. The “Desert” builds on the mid-grade, off-road-centric Tiger 1200 XCx with titanium and carbon-fiber touches and a model-specific “Sandstorm” paint package with Desert Edition graphics to set it apart visually from the pack. Of course, the factory maintains its premium electronics suite and active suspension system, and it drives it all with its proven 1,215 cc triple.

As far as premium hot hatches go, this lot here is the creme de la creme. Sure, some might argue that the VW Golf R is not exactly premium, but then again, it is a premium car if we look strictly at its performance credentials, don’t you think?
