Here’s the Evolution of the Porsche Boxster and How It Saved Porsche In the Early 1990s
Porsche may be a successful company right now, but it had it’s fair share of financial difficulties in the past. The early 1990s were pretty rough for the Germans, as sales had dropped from more than 50,000 units a year in 1986 to only 14,000 examples in 1993. Porsche had to do something about it and a new 911 model wasn’t enough. So the German company started exploring other possibilities, including a replacement for the front-engined, entry-level line that previously included the 924, 944, and 968. Some say that Porsche looked to the success Mazda was having with the Miata and opted to design a new mid-engined roadster inspired by the iconic 550 Spyder of the 1950s. It was dubbed the Boxster, it was cheaper than the 911 but still fast and powerful, and it saved Porsche from bankruptcy. The folks over at Car Evolution just posted a cool video that show how this nameplate evolved in almost 25 years on the market.
Everything You Need To Know About The 2021 Ford F-150
The wait is finally over. This is arguably the biggest debut of the year. With the current-gen in the loop for almost five years, Ford has decided to bring in the fourteenth generation of the world’s best-selling pickup truck, the F-150.
The reveal is even more important because the rivals are catching up in terms of sales and Ford might risk losing the crown of being the best-seller which it’s been holding for over four decades now. Unlike the structural changes that were introduced in the last generation change, this time, Ford has doubled down on technology and a lot of new tech features are now available on the truck.
From the initial impressions, does the 2021 Ford F-150 feel better than the model it replaces? It certainly does.
Jaguar Could Kill the XE and XF Sedans to Replace Them By Something Radical and Unexpected
Jaguar launched the XE back in 2015 as a groundbreaking compact to compete with the popular BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Audi A4. But even though it arrived with state-of-the-art technology and a segment-first aluminum structure, the XE failed to meet expectations. As a result, Jaguar is now looking for a way to replace it with a more appealing vehicle. What’s more, the XF midsize isn’t doing great either, and word has it that Jaguar might merge the slow-selling sedans into a single model.
Jay Leno Drives The Cheapest Ferrari Enzo Ever Made
Named after the company’s founder, the Ferrari Enzo was produced in only 399 units and it’s one of the most desirable modern supercars. Currently valued at more than $2 million on the auction market, the Enzo isn’t the type of car most of us can afford.
But while we’re happy with just seeing it at car event or in YouTube videos, some guy took matter in his own hands and built an Enzo from a Pontiac Fiero. As you might have already guessed, the result is horrendous. But there’s a twist to the story and Jay Leno reveals it in his latest video.
Sim Racing vs. Real Racing - Costs Compared
Every crisis presents itself with a number of hidden opportunities ready to be found by those keen enough to look for them. Sim racing was, and still is, one of those opportunities and every major racing series indulged in virtual racing as everything in the real world had to take a break.
You too can do it and do it at a respectable level without breaking the bank and here we’ll show you how much cheaper it really is than doing it for real.
Uh-Oh: Tesla Makes the Worst-Built Cars in the U.S., J.D. Power Finds
We’ve seen countless videos where new owners complain about the built quality of their new Tesla cars.
Besides the now-fixed Model 3 braking problems acknowledged by Elon Musk back in 2018, there have been recent reports (mostly captured on video, too) of poorly assembled bits and bobs for the Model 3, Model X, and Model Y.
In this regard, J.D. Power’s 2020 U.S. Initial Quality Study comes to confirm what we already knew.
This Rendering of a Mazda MX-5 Wagon Looks Painfully Like the BMW Z3 M Coupe
When it comes to quirky BMWs, the Z3 M Coupe certainly takes the cake. That’s why this render of a Mazda Miata MX-5 in shooting brake-ish attire caught our eye instantly.
No, this is not the work of Mazda and in all fairness, we wouldn’t want it to be in the first place. Here’s why.
A Slurry of TRD Parts Is Coming For the Lexus LC Coupe
TRD, short for Toyota Racing Division, has been providing performance parts for Toyota vehicles for more than a decade now. The more luxurious Lexus models aren’t usually included among TRD’s projects, but the LC has just become an exception. The parts are available through TRD’s Japanese site and they cover both the coupe and convertible models.
24-hour Racing - Is It As Incredible In Sim Racing As It Is In The Real World?
"Racing is life," said Steve McQueen’s character Michael Delaney in the 1971 movie Le Mans. "Everything before or after is just waiting."
So what do you do when you can no longer go out and race? You keep on racing, virtually, from the comfort of your home, of course. That’s what most pro drivers did during the lockdown period but how does a real race compare to one you do in a simulator?
