Electric Vehicles (EV)

Electric vehicles, or EVs, or BEVs use at least one electric motor powered by a battery pack or other source (think trains and trams) to go from point A to point B. If we are to stick to cars, most modern EVs use a Li-ion battery pack, and for good reason: such a battery has higher energy density as well as a longer life span. Moreover, since they are used extensively across the industry, their prices has been dropping, making electric cars more affordable by the year. Some electric vehicles uses one motor to get the wheels in motion, while others rely on two or three electric motors and, therefore, have all-wheel-drive abilities. The larger sense of the term “electric vehicle” also includes plug-in hybrids, which offer an electric motor coupled with an internal combustion engine (either gasoline- or diesel-powered) and can have their battery recharged from a power outlet. Electric vehicles are low maintenance in comparison to ICE-powered cars since they don't require oily bits and moving pieces, but they still require a particular degree of care to keep them in a proper working order.

Segway Ninebot Max Electric Scooter Review

Segway Ninebot Max Electric Scooter Review

Initially an Indiegogo project, the Segway Ninebot Max has got everybody talking recently

The Segway Ninebot Max electric scooter is powered by a 350-watt e-motor and trumpets a maximum range of 40 miles. That’s quite impressive, but at the same time, the Ninebot Max is a rather large scooter with few folding options, which puts a dent in practicality. In fact, it could be more destined to e-scooter fleets than personal daily use, although if space is not a commodity for you, the Ninebot Max will not disappoint. Check out the review below to see if this is the e-scooter you’re looking for.

Headless Boards' Electric Cruiser Skateboard Brings “The Thrill Without The Bill”

Headless Boards’ Electric Cruiser Skateboard Brings “The Thrill Without The Bill”

No, that’s not some sort of rhyme we just made up

The world is not lacking electric skateboards and places to buy them these days. It goes the same for electric scooters and electric bikes. It’s like people will try to come up with just about any sort of invention to avoid walking altogether. But let’s get back to electric skateboards. Now, some say they put a massive dent into the whole skateboard idea and, based on their ethos; we might as well see electric rollerblades making their way into online shops. Purists aside, electric skateboards can provide a cheaper, easier-to-haul alternative to chunky e-bikes and e-scooters. As you’d expect, they’re available in all shapes and sizes (also prices, for that matter), and they’ll keep coming like that.

One such new e-skateboard design is Headless Boards’ Electric Cruiser. The Seattle-based company argues that its product is “substantially different” from other offerings for a simple reason: it doesn’t have a handheld controller, which means you’ll get the electricity flowing by pushing it the old-school way, and all the electric motor will do is maintain the speed you’ve achieved. Let’s get into more details.

Hyundai Wants an Electric Scooter in Every New Car It Sells

Hyundai Wants an Electric Scooter in Every New Car It Sells

So does Audi, by the way, for its eletric range

The electric scooter industry is booming, despite the fact that these things have pushed governments into considering banning them or come up with a new set of laws to regulate their use in urban areas. As it turns out, when used incorrectly, electric scooters can leave their riders with serious injuries, not to mention other innocent people. We’ve covered the topic in greater detail here. However, today’s piece is not about safety issues.

Long story short, Hyundai is launching a new electric scooter that might end up in every new car the Koreans sell, as the company wants to look at ways to improve last mile mobility, a logistical living hell that’s forced carmakers like Ford to develop its own delivery robot.

Vintage Electric’s Roadster Is the Most Gorgeous E-Bike You’ll See All Year

There’s absolutely no running away from its sheer beauty that’s also matched by performance

Electric bikes? We’ve seen a few so far. But none of them comes closer to the Vintage Electric Roadster when it comes to packaging. Just like many other similar startups, Vintage Electric was founded on the idea of making a different kind of vehicle that would persuade people to ditch their cars and experiment something that’s both stylish and powerful. That something was an electric bike - built from the ground up with a lot of retro flavour baked into its design. Moreover, the idea behind the brand was to remove the rider from the daily text messaging and news flipping activities. At this point, Vintage Electric sells no more and no less than five bikes, but we’re here to talk about their recently launched Roadster. So let’s find out what’s what.

Audi's New Electric Scooter Can Be Steered with Just One Hand

Audi’s New Electric Scooter Can Be Steered with Just One Hand

Thanks to an unorthodox design, you’ll have one hand free, but we hope it’s not for text messaging

Well, we guess this one was coming sooner or later: Audi has just launched an electric scooter that has e-tron embedded in its name and we can’t stop wondering how come the announcement came just a month or so after BMW highlighted plans to build its own such contraption. Nonetheless, is this a sign that carmakers are looking to branch out into other sectors that involve some sort of means of transportation? Well, it could very well be, provided the numerous study they carry out have pointed that this would be a profitable piece of the pie. And we know for sure that people have the hots for electric scooters to the same amount they crave crossovers. Therefore, from a theoretical view, selling e-scooters might bring some extra profit to a car manufacturer. After all, some of them have been building bikes for quite some time (think Porsche and BMW, for a change) so moving on to electric scooters doesn’t seem that much of a stretch, does it?
