Lego has been ignoring motorcycle fans but that’s about to change

Lego’s affair with the automotive world has seen the creation of whole lineups such as the Speed Champions franchise, as well as a wave of car sets offered under the Creator or Creator Expert moniker. Speaking of which, Lego’s latest collaboration with Harley Davidson will bring a very special motorcycle, in plastic brick form, to your desks. That’s right, folks, Lego just launched a Harley Davidson Fat Boy Creator Expert set and guess what - it is way cooler than anything we would have ever imagined. Let’s check it out.

Lego Harley Davidson Fat Boy - Every detail there is to know

The Lego Harley Davidson Creator Expert set will roll into Lego stores around the world on August 1, which means we won’t have to wait too much to get it. VIP members, however, can get it as of July 17. Regardless of when you acquire it, you’re looking at a price tag of $99.99.

The set comprises 1,023 pieces, which is pretty much the average number of plastic bits and bobs usually included in a car-oriented Lego Creator set.

Moreover, Lego has tried to replicate some of the distinct features of the life-size Harley Davidson Fat Boy, like the solid-disc wheels, teardrop fuel tank, and dual exhaust pipes.

Once fully assembled, the Lego Fat Boy is 7.8 inches (20 cm) high, 7 inches (18 cm) wide, and 12 inches (33 cm) long.

Besides mirroring the real thing’s design cues and quirks, the Lego variant also packs a couple of moving pieces. For example, if you spin the rear tire, you’ll set the Milwaukee-Eight V-twin engine’s pistons in motion. Once you’re done playing, you can flip down the motorbike’s kickstand and place it on your desk.

The plasticky Fat Boy also features the Harley Davidson logos on both sides and the Wicked Red paint scheme which is actually a real option for the 2019 Harley Davidson Fat Boy. As for the build, we guess it should be a fun and quick process, especially since there are no stickers involved.

So, according to your own experience and craftiness, you should be able to complete the Lego Fat Boy in, let's say, two to four hours tops.

Oh, yeah, we almost forgot. To celebrate the occasion, Lego’s Master Builders division created a life-size model of the Fat Boy using 69,569 pieces. The whole build process took over 865 hours, and it involved the use of 6,000 special Lego elements, including silver-coated parts, Wi-Fi animation control sound, and light effects that imitate the real thing.
