Forgetting about the new Ford Bronco in 3, 2, 1...

We get it; you’re eager to see what the 2020 Ford Bronco will be like. Yet, somehow, the idea of an all-electric Bronco restomod is making our hearts beat faster. Zero Labs’ plans in this direction are, at this point, a string of nicely worded phrases backed up by a video and a photo gallery that, in all fairness, left us asking for more.

The company also claims that the finite product is “restored and handcrafted to show car quality” and powered by a “covert, all-electric drive system.”

That’s why we dug deeper to see what hides behind the marketing blah-blah.

Zero Labs’ Electric Bronco in Detail

For starters, the company will work its restoration magic on the 1966-1977 Ford Bronco. Once finished, one such vehicle (just 150 are planned to see daylight) will pack over 10,000 original components as well as high-tech materials like aerospace-grade carbon fiber body panels.

On the power and performance front, every Zero Labs Ford Bronco has a Lithium-ion 70-kWh battery pack that provides a maximum range of 190 miles.

On top of that, the projected power output is 330 kW (just over 440 horsepower) while max torque sits at 277 pound-feet (that’s 375 Nm) - all this is coming from a brushless, permanent-magnet, BorgWarner electric motor.

The treats do continue on the inside, where Zero Labs intends to install handmade walnut and bamboo inserts in combination with hand-stitched premium/vegan leather upholstery. Lush would be an understatement.

What’s less obvious at first sight but still works towards your safety and fun alike: the six-piston Brembo brake calipers, Currie front and rear differentials, and the Fox adjustable coil over suspension setup.

You can reserve your Zero Labs Ford Bronco for no extra fee, but we’ll have to wait for official pricing until the assembly kicks off. That’s also not set for the time being.
