There’s just something about them, something that can’t be described with words. You open the door, that unmistakable clunk of a classic car door opening is music to your ears and when you step inside, you can’t help yourself from going for a drive. The noise, long hood, and simple interior make you feel connected with the machine in a way modern cars don’t. Now, as we are sure you are aware, such cars aren’t convenient for daily use. However, what if we took an old classic and made it convenient? Well, with the power of rendering, nothing is impossible. So, let’s have a look at this delightful render of a 1969 Chevy Chevelle EV.
The Render Follows The Designs Ques Of The Original
The original Chevrolet Chevelle SS (Super Sport) was the ticket for Chevrolet to enter the muscle car seen. The Super Sport was a high-performance package that took the normal Chevelle sedan to a whole new level. Stiffer suspension, wider tires, and powerful engines ranging from V-6 to V-8 deemed the Chevelle SS one of the most legendary muscle cars in history. Now, as you can probably tell from the image above, the EV render follows the design cues of the original vehicle religiously. Upfront, the protruding grille, square headlights, and the general shape of the body are a modern spin to the classic design. The same is true for the side and rear end of the vehicle.
The Chevelle EV Can Blend Passion With Performance
The revival of such a vehicle will be the perfect blend between old-school nostalgia and modern-day technology. Think about it, this is a vehicle that will look like an old Chevelle (but with a modern spin), but will drive like a modern electric vehicle. Its powertrain can feature two electric motors (one on each axle) that will make the vehicle AWD for handling purposes. Now, since this is a muscle car and burnouts are in its DNA, the driver can have the ability to choose whether the drive should go to just the rear or all four wheels. From there on, the electric powertrain will also provide a silent and relaxing driving experience (at normal speeds), incredible acceleration due to instant torque, and emission-free operation. This means that the Chevrolet SS EV is the definition of perfection, right? Well, yes, but there is a slight problem.
Current Regulations Will Not Allow For Such A Design
Ever wondered why manufacturers never revive exact replicas of their old vehicles? The reason here isn’t because they don’t want to, it is simply because they can’t. Changes in design need to be made for the vehicle to be legal. For example, headlights on new vehicles need to be at a certain height, the exterior should be designed in a way that provides cushioning in the event of a pedestrian accident (the sharp edges of the original certainly won’t work here), and a variety of crash tests must be passed. The biggest hurdle here are the crash tests as they require thick pillars and crumple zones that will protect occupants but will alter the design. So, sadly, the Chevrolet SS EV can’t exist; however, this seems fitting as perfection also doesn’t exist.
