After an absence of more than 40 years and following the success of the Grom and Monkey 125, Honda is resurrecting the Dax name for its latest mini bike.

In recent times, there have been many rumors suggesting that Honda is looking to introduce a new minibike (or monkey bike) based on the iconic Dax but in a 125cc guise.

Putting all speculations to rest, Honda has finally taken the wraps off the resurrected Dax minibike, called the 2022 Dax 125.

The Dakar Rally is one of the world’s most gruesome competitions in the world where participants have to endure all kinds of terrains and conditions. Now, regular people like you and me will probably never get to witness a full-spec Dakar bike in action, let alone ride one, but what we can do though is to try and replicate those kitted-out rally monsters to a certain degree.

This is where the Honda Grom’s Dakar bike body kit comes into play. It may not give you the same capabilities or make you think that you can jump over anything and everything, but it will surely make you look and feel super cool.

Black Tea, based out of Germany, has unveiled two electric motorcycles; the Bonfire E and the Bonfire X, for 2022. Both motorcycles are based on the scrambler platform and aim to be a fun replacement to 125cc ICE motorcycles.

The Yamaha Vino has been a popular scooter in the Japanese market since the late 1990s and has established itself as an easy-going city scooter for the masses. And to make this already likable package more delectable, Yamaha has updated it for 2022. Though the update is mainly visual, it is still a welcome update that adds to the scooter’s appeal.

Ever since it debuted, the Honda Grom has been quite popular. Owing to this popularity, we’ve seen numerous custom builds based on the Grom, most of which aren’t really road-friendly.

Japan-based TTR Motors, though, has taken a different road altogether and introduced two completely reversible body kits for the Grom, both of which transform the minibike into Honda’s exotic superbike, the CB1100R.

Honda’s humble little Super Cub maintains its position as the most prolific motorcycle in the world with yet another generation for MY2022. Reduced overall heft makes the new engine even more efficient than before for a net improvement in performance. Classic bodywork keeps it all under wraps while paying the appropriate amount of homage to the original design.

Anything with Steve McQueen’s name attached to it will always add a couple of zeros to the asking price. That’s understandable when it’s a rare and desirable motorcycle or car, but when it’s a moped, aren’t we all going a bit mad? This 1970 Solex was used by McQueen on the set of the movie ’Le Mans’ and is now up for auction with an estimated price of $40-50,000. Would you be tempted?

The original Honda Monkey Bike of 1961 was an astonishing deviation from the company’s serious business of making giant-killing motorcycles of ever-increasing capacity, culminating with the CB750, the first Japanese superbike in 1969. Introduced into Europe in 1967, it remained in production up to 2017 in its original 50cc version. With the release of the Honda Grom, it wasn’t long before a Monkey bike version was released. Now 125cc, it has been further updated for 2022.

There are many motorcycles that could be called the most significant for a number of reasons. What if I told you, however, that the most significant is also one of the most humble?

The Honda Motorcycle Company’s history is one of huge success - including staggering single-model sales - impeccable engineering provenance and, dare it be said, a distinct lack of character. Which makes it all the more surprising when Honda engineers let their hair down and brought us something as wacky as the Monkey Bike. Into the second decade of the 2000s, they seemingly had another fit of giggles and resurrected the Monkey Bike, this time called the Grom. It’s still as mad as ever and, for that, we have to be thankful.
