A 600-Horsepower, Topless Alfa Romeo Could Be In The Works

Don’t sleep on the possibility of seeing a convertible version of the GTV Coupe

Alfa Romeo’s plan to flood the market with 26 new and updated models is well-documented. We also know that at least two of those models will be the scintillating 8C supercar and the Giulia Quadrifoglio-based GTV Coupe. Now it looks like a third performance model is in the works, specifically a convertible version of the aforementioned 600-horsepower GTV Coupe that will be released more than a year after the coupe version drops and takes all our money away.

What Do We Know About The New Alfa Romeo 8C?

What Do We Know About The New Alfa Romeo 8C?

Up To 800 Horsepower, A Monocoque Chassis And Sub-3 Second 0-62 mph time

It would seem that the most important goals for any manufacturer today are continuity and clarity. If you do cheap cars, do only them. If you do sports cars, focus only on them. If you are premium, adapt to what the people think is premium and push.

Alfa Romeo had a problem with its mission, vision, and continuity. Since the Eighties, it seems to have shifted its vision two or three times basically confusing buyers when it comes to what the brand truly represents. Now, it is eager to find its footing with what it should have done all along - sports character, upscale styling, and premium nature.

At a press conference held earlier this year Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Maserati and Alfa Romeo said: “We know our future depends on staying true to our sports car roots. We have learned that when we stay true to Alfa DNA, we can stand out in any segment.”

Thankfully, the brand seems to have found what it wants to be the best at. To communicate this noble vision to the automotive lunatics and solidify brand recognition, Alfa Romeo has to do some extraordinary things. Having the Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio was only a start. Now, the company needs to go further, and that further comes in the shape of the 8C.

Recently, the late Sergio Marchionne hinted at the new 8C only months before his death. Moreover, the plan FCA displayed in June clearly showcases a planned super sports car called the 8C, and it will appear in the next three or four years.

2022 Tesla Model S

2022 Tesla Model S

Creating a worthy successor to an EV icon

The Model S is far and away Tesla’s most popular vehicle, known for singlehandedly shifting public opinion of EVs from dowdy, boring people-movers, to sexy, high-tech performance machines. This is the model that set the stage for all of Tesla’s other offerings, including the top-shelf Model X SUV, and more recently, the affordable Model 3 compact four-door. However, the Model S was first introduced in 2012, which means it’s starting to get a little long in the tooth, and a second-gen for the full-/mid-size luxury sedan should be headed down the line in the next few years. As such, we put on our speculation hats and got down to reasoning out what the next Model S might bring to the table.

Next-Gen Tesla Model S Rendering has us Hopeful for the Future!

Sign us up if this is what the next-generation Tesla Model S looks like

The Tesla Model S has been around since 2012, and while it’s still a few years away from getting a full redesign, a rendering of a next-gen Model S is already making rounds on the Internet. It looks exactly like what we hope the next-gen Model S looks like. Designed by Emre Husmen, the new Model S rendering is far more aggressive and dynamic than the current model that’s on the market today. More importantly, it doesn’t deviate too far away from the current Model S to the point that it becomes unrecognizable. It’s still the Tesla Model S, albeit rendered to look sharper and edgier than what we have now. In other words, it looks fantastic.

Someone Has Already Rendered the Ford Focus Pickup

It actually looks pretty darn good

The Ford Focus could be used as the basis for a compact, unibody pickup that the Blue Oval is looking to offer in the U.S. in the future. The rumored model was first mentioned by Automobile Magazine as a possible addition to Ford’s shifting product lineup in the country. As the company’s car lineup is about the go — the Focus and the Mustang are the only ones being spread — the rush to beef up its crossover, SUV, and pickup offerings begin. One of the reported models is the Focus-based compact, unibody pickup, and as is often the case with ground-breaking model developments like this one, it didn’t take long for renderings of the rumored pickup to surface.
