2019 First Look: Aprilia Concept RS 660
As a general rule, Aprilia’s sportbike line falls in the superbike displacement range, but the factory ventures into new territory with its Concept RS 660 supersport. That’s right; Piaggio’s racebike subsidiary has designed an all-new ride around an equally-new, mid-size, twin-cylinder engine. The new engine borrows from the 1,100 cc V4 that powers the Tuono V4 and RSV4 1100 Factory for both its design and its electronics to make this a very well-rounded road machine. Add some comfort-related features and you’ve got yourself a fun-bike with some real potential. Details are still a bit sparse, but here’s what we know as of now.
My Top Concept Bike Picks From 2018 EICMA
As much fun as it is to see all the new bikes that are already slated for production and release, it’s the [concept bikes-<mot297] that really do it for me. The EICMA show presents a number of such items, so join me while I give a run-down of some of my favorites.

Designer Dario Caroselli has recently come up with a very aggressive naked motorcycle concept based on the Aprilia Shiver 750, a veritable Italian naked built around a V-twin engine. Called simply Aprilia Naked, the concept bike features compact bodywork and solo seat, while being defined by the lines and color schemes of the original bike.
We’re quite impressed by this concept although we must admit that it isn’t quite in strict accordance with the naked style, but simply a production bike taken to the extreme.
Italian designer Luca Bar recently signed a motorcycle concept based on the Aprilia SXV 550. The bike is called Aprilia Street and it is a blend of cross and supermotard. Claimed to have an impressive power to weight ratio, it’s clearly destined for the urban adventurer.
This one is definitely an eye-catcher and, hopefully, if it is seen by interested brands, we might just pop the big news.
Having recently gone a little over its hand with the all-new Mana 850 – a typical European naked bike that features CVT shiftless transmission, an electronic ride-by-wire system with multiple throttle maps as well as a helmet storage place instead of what appears to be the gas tank – Aprilia finds new ways of recovering Piaggio’s investment.
The first result takes the form of the Mana X concept which was recently presented at the EICMA show in Milan. So while the original Mana 850 is a dedicated commuter, its X derivation can be easily confused with a supermoto bike or even a dual-sport one as it is radically changed, mostly in what concerns the apparel because the same basic chassis underpins the X.
Get a look at that extremely low and spacious seat, at those thick tires covering the spoked wheels as well as at the waved rotors. Should I even mention the headlights or you’re already hooked? I thought so.
Vanjey-design visualizes the road version of the RSV 4 in the best way we’ve seen so far, but the concept is surrounded by mystery so far. It is strongly recommended that you leave your opinion in order to help us to see it unveiled and ready for a test run. Although it is premature to talk about such thing now, you have to admit that it looks inviting.
Aprilia has made quite an entry with its radical concept named FV2. It manages to showcase what the manufacturer is heading towards and, as you can see, it does it with great success. The bike looks imposing and aggressive thanks to its Hossack-style fork, but it isn’t all about design, is it?
The heart of this concept is a fuel-injected 1200cc, 90-degree V-twin engine featuring bore and stroke of 106 x 67.8mm. Delivering 134.5 HP and more than 10.5 kgm of torque and if we take in (...)
2007 was the twentieth anniversary of Aprilia’s first GP win and a year in which another four world championships were won. This extraordinary achievement is a repeat of Aprilia’s 2006 success story and takes the total of Aprilia’s world championship titles to an amazing 31. What better technical and sporting heritage could there be behind the Aprilia FV2 1200 concept bike? The FV2 1200 embodies the latest Aprilia technology and reveals the direction likely to be taken by technical and (...)
