2020 BMW S 1000 RR

It Has More Of The Goods That Made The Previous Generations Such A Hit

The Bayerische Motoren Werke leads off its 2020 lineup with a new version of its race-tastic S 1000 RR. As usual for BMW, items that were optional equipment last year are now part of the standard equipment package; I’m talking about such features as all-around LED lighting, lean-sensitive ABS and an adjustable clutch lever, just to name a few. The 999 cc powerplant shed some weight and took on the ShiftCam technology in a bid to deepen the torque well a bit and pick up a few ponies in the process. In short, Beemer’s new street-legal racebike comes to the table with more of the goods that made the previous generations such a hit.

2019 BMW S 1000 RR

A Record-Setting Bike, It’s The Fastest BMW Motorcycle To Date

If you like your streetbike served with a side of track-day performance, BMW has good news for you in the form of its S 1000 RR. The “RR” marks one of those happy mediums between run-of-the-mill, supersport wannabes and the six-figure “proper” race machines, and it represents a significant return on its relatively low MSRP. Solid performance is supported by safety and stability systems, and that acts as a skill-multiplier to help you keep it dirty-side down.

Is this the BMW G310RR? The German's new secret mini weapon?

Is this the BMW G310RR? The German’s new secret mini weapon?

Clad in carbon-fiber, it is a fully faired G 310 R sportster

Back in 2013, BMW teamed up with TVS Motors in a Euro 20 million partnership to support them with the manufacturing and distribution of smaller capacity motorcycles, starting with the G 310R. TVS also launched the Apache RR 310 that was nothing but a full faired G310R for the Indian markets.

Now though, the Germans have perfected that sportsbike and have slapped their badge on what we believe is the potent new mini-superbike, the BMW G310RR Supersport. Snapped by our friends at Oliepeil, this BMW G310RR was on display at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan and has its dad, S 1000 RR, written all over it.

BMW’s new lethal S-1000RR superbike designs leaked

Patent imaged from China surface the web

This is the final showdown. And nothing is going to change henceforth. This, guys, is the 2019 BMW S-1000RR. Published by China’s intellectual property office, this liter-class weapon from the Bavarian manufacturer is finally out from the cages in the CAD forms, unofficially though.

Looking at it, and with the snapped test mule we showcased in July, we can confirm that this is indeed the 1000RR we all have been waiting for. The designs are a reminiscence of the S-1000 RRs’ we have been accustomed to before but misses out on that all prolific asymmetric headlights. Instead, we see a pair of matching lights on either side of the central air intake.

2016 - 2019 BMW S 1000 XR

When Supersport Meets Adventure

BMW put together the S 1000 XR for the adventuresome sort that prefers to stay on at least moderately civilized routes. Built on the proven S 1000 literbike platform, the XR really puts the “sport” in adventure-sport with a solid, 999 cc powerplant and a claimed top speed that lands upwards of the 125 mph mark. The XR also maintains a sportbike-like panache in spite of its adventuresome qualities, thus avoiding the blunt pragmatism associated with so many adv bikes. Of course, Beemer is a firm believer in better living through technology, and it includes a host of safety gadgets meant to help you keep it dirrty-side-down. Sound good yet? Let’s dig in and see what else the Bayerische has in store for us.

In a huge salute to all women riders across the globe, Erin Sills with her team TOP 1 Oil and Hunter Sills Racing (HSR) broke a land-speed record for the World’s Fastest BMW Motorcycle previously held by none other than Erin Still’s late husband, Andy Sills, who set the record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2013.

Setting a new FIM world record of 229.266 mph, Erin Stills rode on a near-production BMW S1000 RR with aerodynamic aids and engine mods, but still a naturally aspirated machine at the ‘Cook Top of the World Shootout’. She overshot her late husband’s record by eight miles per hour.

Video: Watch 4 superbikes making a rainbow in the sky

Seeing the title image should tell you how. Idiots or no, four rich Brazilian guys calling themselves as the ‘Rainbow Bikers’ are upto some appalling stuff with their liter-class sportbikes. In a quest to create rainbows at their pool party, they decide to use their bike’s rear wheel do the job for them.

With four BMW S 1000 RR, all costing upwards of $15,995 a piece, they decided to dip the rear end of the bikes into the pool and hang them in balance at the exhaust belly panel. The tire is in contact with the water and by hitting the rev limiter, huge amounts of water gets displaced to form a big arc of water steam that ends up creating a rainbow in the sunlight.
