Ducati XDiavel

Ducati branched out from its Diavel family tree in 2016 with an even more cruiser-like version in the XDiavel. Still every inch the sportbike, the XDiavel strikes a more cruiser-like tone with pullback bars and forward foot controls that puts the pilot in the windsock riding position. Like its big brother, the “X” brings serious performance to the masses with its 152-horsepower engine.

The Sport-Cruiser That Really Is A Cruiser Sportbike

It’s safe to say that “cruiser” isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind when I think of Ducati, or even the third, yet here we are with the XDiavel and its slightly dressier “S” stablemate carrying the brand into uncharted waters. The “X” signifies the cross and blending of the two worlds — cruiser and sport — and the end result is what the factory calls a “Techno-cruiser” due to its melding of Italian performance DNA and a more cruise-tastic rider triangle than you normally see from this brand. Powered by a 1,262 cc Testastretta engine, the XDiavel duo put the “sport” in “sport-cruiser” and opens the performance field to folks that ordinarily wouldn’t have such an option.

2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark

It has the stump-pulling torque of a cruiser and the horsepower of a sportbike wrapped in a blackout package

Ducati explores its Dark Side with the new-for-2021 XDiavel power cruiser. Built with the same relaxed cruiser attitude as its kin, generous blackout treatment adds a decidedly sinister tone that pairs well with the industrial look that the Diavel/XDiavel platforms bring to the table. In addition to the whopping 160 horsepower output of the powerful engine, its emissions have been improved, as well, to meet Euro 5 emissions requirements.

More on the Ducati XDiavel

The XDiavel expands the Devil’s footprint to draw in riders that come from a proper cruising background. This bears out in the sales figures as the “X” has drawn business away from H-D’s cruiser base with its curious blend of features.

Like its base platform, the standard Diavel, the XDiavel brings blistering performance to the table with one of the fastest 0-60 times that can be had from a production machine slated for use on public roads.

A trimmed-down tail section accentuates the all-up-front visual balance, but it’s the muscular, 1,262 cc L-Twin Testastretta engine that really seals the deal. The 157-horsepower mill comes backed up by a robust suite of safety electronics that sport lean-sensitive interventions that let you safely get the most out of the machine.
