You are allowed to think that Ducati has mastered the dark arts and cooked up this mad looking Diavel from a parallel universe with the help of another Italian madhouse Haute couture production, Diesel. Together they have couped up a radical looking post-apocalyptic machine that will tear apart any other cruiser down to its soul.

This motorcycle was announced as part of Milan Men’s Fashion Week 2017 and was launched at the Motor Bike Expo Italy in 2017.

In the words of Ducati Motor Holding CEO Claudio Domenicali – “The collaboration with Diesel enabled us to explore original stylistic and technical aspects whilst staying within the Ducati brand and fully respecting its values. In this case, we worked with Diesel on an already uniquely original bike like the Diavel and the result was surprising to put it mildly. 2015 Ducati Diavel

The Ducati Diavel was first introduced in 2011 as the Italian manufacturer’s second cruiser, following in the footsteps of the Indiana, which went out of commission in 1990.

My, how times have changed.

These days, the Diavel is widely considered as part cruiser, part sportsbike, a distinction that has made it one of Ducati’s most controversial machines. A lot of people didn’t like the Diavel at first and Ducati was bombarded with complaints that such a bike - a cruiser!?! - betrayed everything that Ducati stood for.

But that’s precisely why the Diavel was controversial. For all the flogging it received, a lot of people who ended up buying the bike came away impressed with its uncompromising combination of style and power, two things that Ducatis is also known for.

The arrival of the 2015 model represents the next evolution of the Diavel. Oh, and in case you don’t know, this bad boy is littered with all sorts of new features and components. It’s hard to name another bike that has been talked about more in the past four years than the Diavel. The fact that it’s only been around since 2011 only adds to its growing legacy.

The Strada version of the Ducati Diavel comes with a set of special accessories especially developed to increase the rider’s comfort. Among them you’ll find side bags, a windshield, a new seat and raised handlebars.

The motorcycle sports Ducati’s modern Testastretta 11°, 1198.4 cc, L-twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled unit that offers a perfect balance between a sporty performance and an enjoyable ride. The unit puts out a maximum power of 119 KW (162 Hp) at 9,500 rpm and 127.5 Nm (94 Lb-Ft) of torque at 8,000 rpm. All this power is handled by a 6 speed transmission with wet, multiplate clutch with hydraulic control.

For enhanced performances, the 2014 Ducati Diavel Strada is also equipped with a Ride-by-Wire (RbW) system which uses three different mappings (sport, touring and city) to regulate the power delivery.

Out back, there is an adjustable Sachs suspension unit mounted under the chassis in a horizontal position and operated by a progressive pull-rod linkage from the swingarm.

2012 Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition

Those of you who follow the automotive industry already know that AMG and Ducati are not at their first partnership. And when things go in the right direction you should always expect to see more than just one thing coming from a collaboration. TheDucati Diavel AMG Special Edition is the latest, but of course not the last, development from Ducati and Mercedes AMG.

This special edition is based on the Diavel Carbon and features AMG’s signature 5-spoke wheel styling, carbon fibre lateral radiator grills with aluminium trim, AMG-style sport exhaust system with engraved end-caps and AMG-style horizontally ribbed seat upholstered in Alcantara.

The model comes painted in matte black carbon fiber bodywork with AMG’s very own “Diamond White Bright” stripe and frame color contrasted with black wheels.

Also, every engine has its Desmodromic cam-timing set by hand and authenticated with the name of the engine technician engraved on the left-side engine casing.

The model will make its world debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show and will be available in early 2012.

After unveiling the 2011 Diavel two months ago, Ducati is already offering a special edition for it: Diamond Black. As the name suggests, this edition Ducati replaces the originally presented pearl white with a brand new diamond black with black frame. The new scheme will be further enhanced with black anodized headlamp body and lateral air intakes. It will be available starting February next year.

After months of speculation and spy photography the long wait is almost over, the Diavel will make its first public appearance at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan 2-7 November.

The name “Diavel” was inspired by the Bolognese dialect word for “devil”: One day, early in the development process of the bike, the first prototype was assembled and wheeled out in front of a group of Ducati engineers and technicians who were viewing the complete motorcycle for the first time. One person looking from the rear of the bike saw its silhouette and exclaimed in Bolognese dialect: “Ignurànt comm’ al Diavel!” Which means: “Evil, just like the devil!”

The new Diavel is powered by a Ducati Testastretta 11° engine - developed directly from the incredibly powerful, world-beating race engines of Ducati Corse. With its 162hp and colossal 94lb-ft (127.5Nm) of torque, the Diavel Testastretta 11° engine is all about authentic Ducati Desmodromic performance. The revised intake and exhaust ports combined with radical adjustment of the cam timing have enabled Ducati to achieve a fantastic torque curve at low rpm, which remains strong through a wider rev-range. The increase in bottom-end torque is managed by Ducati’s Ride-by-Wire (RbW) system to considerably enhance the Diavel’s effortless ridability, while ensuring plenty of power remains on tap for high-rpm riding.

The Diavel is available in two versions: Diavel priced at $16,995 and Diavel Carbon priced at $19,990 and enriched with lightweight composites and milled aluminium components that meld the two worlds of sport and style with features that are both visually beautiful and functionally high-performance.
