The new Apple iPhone 14 lineup is out and like always, it’s pushing the boundaries of technology and price. The top-spec iPhone 14 Pro Max, with its fancy new notch, begins from $1,099 and goes as high as $1,599. Now, that’s a lot of money for a mobile phone and there are plenty of more practical purchases for this amount; for example, electric bikes.

Commonly known as E-bikes, these don’t have the hassle of a full-sized motorcycle (gear shifts, clutch, and gas prices), are perfect for commuting around the city, and help keep you healthy too, all for the price of one iPhone. Looking to invest in one? Then, here are five electric bikes you can buy for the price of one iPhone 14 Pro Max. Oh, and there’s a surprise at the end for the gas engine lovers too!

Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser

Going in decreasing order of price, the Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser is a stylish electric bike you can buy for $1,595. It draws inspiration from old-school bicycles, evident from its swept handlebar and the flat rear rack, but bits like LED lights (front and rear), LCD instrument cluster, and powerful battery-motor combo help it stay modern. Focusing on the latter, you get a 750W motor coupled with a 0.72kWh battery which gives it a 20mph top speed and 30-50 miles of range, respectively.

RadRunner 2

For the utilitarians out there, the RadRunner 2 is a great prospect at $1,499. Unlike the Cafe Cruiser, the RadRunner features a moped-like low-step chassis design with the battery placed outback. This not only helps to get on and off the bike more easily but also leaves space for you to carry things. Plus, Rad also offers a handful of bespoke accessory kits - for instance, a child seat at the rear - to make the Runner even better. Other notable details include a 20mph top speed, 45-mile range, LED lights, and even puncture-resistant tires. Sold on it? Head to Rad’s website to buy it.

Aventon Pace 350

The $1,399 Aventon Pace 350 is a perfect blend of style and functionality, and justifies the moolah with bits like a colored instrument cluster (not as crisp as the iPhone's, though), app connectivity, likable looks, puncture-resistant tires, and, our favorite, chassis-integrated LED tail lights. From a functionality standpoint, it can reach 20mph with/without pedal assist while offering a range 40-mile range with pedal assist. You can buy it straight from Aventon's website.

Propella 7S

Taking things up a notch style-wise is the Propella 7S. While it boasts a not-so-impressive 18.5mph top speed, the 7S looks properly handsome in its black chassis and blue wheels. Other than this, it gets the basics bang-on by featuring an LCD, seven-speed gears, disc brakes, and puncture-resistant tires. Oh, and the 250Wh battery pack (offering a 40-mile range) is removable which is a neat little touch. To know more and place an order, head to Propella.

Aventon Soltera (Single-speed)

Last but not least, we have the Aventon Soltera. Priced at $1,199, the Soltera is a lot of E-bike for little money. The only catch, though, is the absence of gears and discs. Apart from this hiccup, the electric bike boasts a color display and integrated LED lights while promising a 40-mile range and 20mph top speed. The range even creeps up to an insane 63 miles if you ride at 6mph.

As impressive as all these are, we know some of you would still prefer a gas-powered alternative, and there is one - the Honda Navi. Yes, you read that right, you can buy the Honda Navi for $1,807, just around $200 more than the 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max. Sure, the Navi isn’t a full-sized motorcycle or scooter, but hey it’s plenty of fun and surely something worth considering before spending $1,500 on a phone.
