Almost 30 years ago, the Africa Twin had conquered the Paris-Dakar Rally with a 1-2-3 win in 1986. Last year, Honda re-imagined the same True Adventure spirit of the NXR750 and gave us the promising CRF 1000L Africa Twin.

For 2018, the Japanese Red Winger will update the Africa Twin by giving it a more off-road focused equipment list that will include a larger fuel tank, crash cage and more. It is expected to debut at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan.

Nicknamed as the Honda Africa Twin “Big Tank,” the Africa Twin will chuck the existing 18-liter fuel tank and replace it with a larger 22-liter fuel tank which will eventually increase its mileage to around 230 miles from 180 miles provided by the current CRF1000L.

Apart from this, the teaser image gives us a glimpse of what looks like a crash guard that will come standard on the 2018 version. It is, however, available as an accessory in the current generation.

As a matter of fact, Honda had showcased the Africa Twin Sports Concept at the Osaka Motorcycle Show last year that had gained a few changes with the bodywork and had a single long saddle with a flat design. A high-drag exhaust system in titanium and a more stripped rear frame was also seen on this concept.

Expect all those designs to relay through to the 2018 version which will be put on stands at Honda's stable at the EICMA Motor show in Milan starting from 7th November.
